I was just interested in your workflow, mainly because I have a helluva time singing and playing at the same time. Invariably either my playing or vocals suffer, unless I'm doing basic strumming.

Oh, I definately agree; its hard to do both. That's the main reason why I've been sticking to easier songs for me to play and sing when trying to do both. As of now, I only have 3 songs I'm decent at singing (if you include the Murder by death song I posted earlier and this song).
Strangely, the thing that seemed to most improve my ability to sing and play at the same time is playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band with my friends while we goof around and bad mouth each other. Playing on expert while trying to wittily insult the drummer definately improves your multitasking abilities. Also its pretty fun.
So this week I actually have two things to post. Sadly, neither one is very well done, I haven't had much time this week to record. I've even been doing homework or had both of my roommates in the room and being themselves (i.e. loud)

Just on your new one, I like it but you might want to cut it down by at least a minute as it covers the same ground a bit. I like the chord progression in it, I actually think it would sound nice on an electric. Obviously not played as bombastically though.
The second song sounds more energetic, but you didn't lose the languidness of the last one, so go you.
Also, I finally got myself a microphone, so when I record something I'm satisfied with I'll get you to hammer me on poor technique and timing.

The newest song has actually mutated into something almost completely different now. I'll try to get a recording of where it stands now, but I'm glad to hear you like the basis of it. Hopefully the changes I've been working on add to it instead of taking away from it.
And I can't wait to hear your music Mustang, I'll do my best to give you some good feedback when you post it.

Did you drop your E string on that? Sounds pretty rad, I almost thought you had a bass track on there for a sec. That being said, I don't think it would be horrible for you to do some doubled tracks, it'll give you far more options rather than being limited to the immediate chord pattern you are playing.
I think this is definately your best one yet though, a lot more interesting than the others.

I actually used an Open C tuning (its the same one used on the john buter song I've been trying to cover and similar to another song I've been thinking about covering, Skinny Love by Bon Iver)
Its a pretty sweet tuning, I definately suggest you check it out.
And I do have a basic idea for another guitar line in the song- I've just been trying to perfect the main part before I start adding layers for once

Your voice has improved since I last heard it Napp, sounds more confident.
The light noise recording is a lot slicker, a LOT. I really quite like it, though I really do think it would have more impact if you filled out the slower sectioned middle with a simple melody overlayed. It just lacks something there to bring it back to your intro melody.

Though, i have to admit, one of the reasons I probably sound much more confidant on this song is because I've been singing it on and off for the last two years . That said, I hadn't sung it for months but its a song that i'm really familiure with.
I do agree- light noise needs something extra during that part. I was hoping to get a part that worked with out needing a second guitar but I guess it doesn't really hurt to make use of the recording tools to make a good song

Yeah... like i said, I have to re-record all the tracks
I need a higher gauge set of strings for songs this.
And the tuning is roughtly DADGBD i believe- i just ear-balled it so i could quickly get into writing.
edit: I realized right after I posted this and left the house that I never checked my guitar's original tuning- i just did the alternate tuning by ear. I assumed it was tuned to Standard but it maybe have been dropped a whole step. It would explain how slack the strings all felt.
The guitar melody is mostly a place holder for my vox- I don't know if the vox will ever come (my voice is awful lol)- so this ends up sounding quite a bit like some of my older stuff. I think I pulled it off better than in the older songs though, let me know what you think.
The guitar is really good, and the lyrics aren't bad either. The words could be cleaned up, but it's got a definite message and feeling. Give it a different title, and it'll knock away some of the cheese smell.
I don't mean to sound harsh about the singing, but you're mumbling sooooo much. What I first thought of was Weird Al's "Smells Like Nirvana". I sang it myself to hear what the words really sounded like. Sorry.
Napp, honestly, I want to do something to tweak the lyrics. Would you mind if I rewrote some of it?

sure- i wrote the lyrics in like... 10 min last night. They probably deserve some tweaking.
