you could have the bomb impact in the distance and the wall of the explosion could come in to "separate them"- that would allow for both the realism and the pacing.

That was originally planned as well, but for that's not really the mood that I'm going for. I also proposed the idea to my tutor apparently he likes it, so I'm not going to argue with it if it means less work and more marks.

EDIT: Arg, so many good ideas here. I'm not going to have time to follow them all through, I need to get three assignments done in a week.

EDITx2: Hmm... I think I might be able to restructure it a bit. I've finished doing a basic timing test of what I currently have, I'll see if I can host it on youtube.

The title 'the separation' wasn't chosen by me - it's the stimulus I used for this project. Thankully I am allowed to change it this time, but I haven't thought of something suitable yet.

(Also, if you think my story is simplistic, you should see some of the other animatics. One of last years 'top 20' was a happy rubber duckie swimming around in circles. That was pretty much it.)
You know, if I were given the theme of "The Separation" for an animation, I probably would have just done a classic 'guy's tongue stuck to a frozen flag pole gag or something'- when you invoke the imagery of the deaths of millions all of a sudden things get a lot more complicated to deal with. :P

Yeah, I have a tendency to bite off a bit more than I can chew...

Experimenting to see if I can make any improvements just by using different cutting/removing a few scenes.

EDIT: I'll probably have to draw some new frames for that second-last sequence, but you get the idea.

Ugh... Three days of solid work and still nowhere near finished. How can this take so long?

Finished! Well, almost. A few more touch ups here and there...

Even after working almost solidly for a week, I've barely managed to get this done, so I don't think I'll have time to make the changes you guys suggested, unfortunately...
