Battle.net account hacked

A friend of mine contacted me yesterday and informed me that my WoW account had probably been hacked. I haven't played for about a year or so now, so he thought it was unusual when he saw my character online. He phoned me, I went and checked my Battle.net account, and sure enough it has had an authenticator put on it (I don't use one). I'm not really super concerned about it, since I don't play WoW and it helped me make the decision to cancel my SC2 pre-order. I would like to get it resolved, though, on principle if nothing else. I emailed Blizzard customer support already. What are the odds of getting it straightened out?

    I would also like an answer to this question. I emailed them last Sunday night, and it took them 3 days just to forward my case to a specialist for review. I haven't heard back from them since.

    The odds of getting it worked out are very high. Blizzard is pretty good about account hacking. Just be patient, it takes a little while for them to find out what happened.

    It's just going to take them forever to get back to you. I tried to call them multiple times and a recording said that they were experiencing a high volume of calls and to call back later, no message or anything. It took about two weeks for them to finally remove the authenticator from my account (My phone broke and when I restored my backup to a new phone the authenticator serial changed).

    They ask for a state issued ID and for you to fill out a TOS form, then you fax or mail that in to verify your account. Then it takes about a day to get everything reset properly.

    Here is a helpfull if little known piece of advice. When calling Blizzard it gives you the option to use their IVR troubleshooter DO IT. Select password recovery and at the end when it asks if this resolved your issue select no. The IVR when then put you at the top of the Que turning a hour and a half wait into a 5 minute wait.

    In addition, if you don't have an authenticator, THINK STRONGLY about it.

    It has become big business to rip off accounts, so adding a much stronger layer of protection is really in everyone's best interest.

    Yeah, this is really good advice. I'm not planning to play any more Blizzard games any time soon, but if I was, I would go this route.

    This is funny, I think this happened to my account. I don't play anymore, someone got it and put an authenticator on it when I tried to change the password back and stuff.

    Exact same situation here. I wouldn't have noticed at all, save that my friend saw my Level 80 Druid online and was hoping I'd join his guild and do raid healing.
