So my friend has recently been streaming games for our group of friends and we've been having fun going through Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, etc. We have one issue though, and it's the fact that we can't isolate the sound broadcast. We can do stereo mix to get the sounds from the game, but then we can't get together over Vent or Skype to voice chat because we'll hear our own echoes.
Is there any way to do this? He is running on Windows XP. If there is no way to do it on XP, is there a way to do it in Windows 7?
You could use a usb headset with built in mic, this will create a second 'sound card' that will seperate its audio i/o from your main soundcard.
Set your chat app to use this new usb device as its default record/playback devices and leave the default windows audio device as your soundcard, with stereo mix as the default windows recording source.
