I got a neon PS2 sign from Gamestop for just walking in during renovations and saying "can I have that?". They said yes and now I have a sign that I can't put anywhere.
Also I don't think I've won anything since high school. Back then I won a ton of stuff including:
Third Place in a male beauty contest (with 12 contestants. I already saw that joke coming)
Prom King
Most Likely To Succeed
4 year running Pie Eating Champ
Lord of the Dodgeball
Employee of the month
Oh way, I won best dressed at work recently. Because I wear WACKY ties.
Is it just me or do these all sound like concepts to terrible comedies?

I won a timberland backpack and a shit ton of grapefruit soda from a radio call in back in '01. I used that pack for school from 8th grade til I finished high school.
I wish I could win more stuff.
Am I the only one who has never heard of grapefruit soda

Fresca has been around forever.
Is that what that is?
I have literally never seen a bottle of this and have only heard of it referred to on Venture Bros
edit:Wikipedia says it has been around for 50 years and is sold worldwide?
I was at a food place two weeks ago and these people ordered one of those big awesome pretzels, and the place had to cook it hot and fresh because they don't keep em stocked
Turns out they didn't want salt and I was like "I'll take it!" and they gave it to me.
Was at an ice cream shop THREE weeks ago and the people in front of me left, leaving two complete double-dip vanilla waffle cones in the hands of the attendant. I said "I'll take em!" and they gave them to me.
For those of you who haven't worked in the food biz before, employees will usually be happy to hand over made things that they are just going to throw away, if you ask them nicely.
One time in high school I bought a pop from a vending machine and the bottles just kept on coming. I ended up taking 6 to bring back to my friends but they kept coming so I just started giving them to people who were around the vending machine.
Eventually some guy came up and without paying attention to what was happening put his money in the vending machine and hit the button, causing the flow of free pops to stop.
When we were little, my brothers and I found a vending machine where something in the bottom had busted and all the quarters were just laying on the ground below it.
I once found a $50 bill lying on the ground at a fair. I even went up the the people running it and told them that I found it, and asked if anyone had lost it.

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
When I was a kid, I won a VHS of The Beauty and the Beast. Think I still have it somewhere.
I won a video card at the first or second PAX.
Also won a t-shirt by beating a guy at smash bros (again, PAX).

I got a free satchel from working a temp job for the US Census.
After my job finished I asked if there was anything else I needed to return and they told me there wasn't so unless they suddenly call me up and ask for it back I'm keeping it.
No idea what I'll even use it for but hey, free stuff!

Same thing more or less happened with me. Except I worked security. They let me keep my hat. It says SECURITY. I wear it when I wanna look tough :P
I have exactly one awesome free shit story, and the item is not really that cool.
So one day I was taking the bus in to town, and it was nice and sunny. Now, the bus stop is about a 10 minute walk from my house, so once I was there it wasn't like I could just run back inside and get things I needed.
Anyways, I got to the bus stop and noticed that awww, someone left an umbrella there. Wonder why they had an umbrella, it's like 72 and awesome out.
About 30 seconds later, and for about 5 minutes until the bus came, it suddenly starts pouring ridiculous amounts of rain, before hailing.
I still have that found umbrella, it is my favoritest umbrella ever.

Oh man, years ago, when it was still made and stocked here, Dr Pepper ran an "Under the cap" promotion that 1 out of every 2 bottles won you another free bottle.
I once won a free blockbuster rental from a Sprite bottle cap. I never used it, but it was the principle of the thing. Until that day, I believed I would never be a winner.

pipe are you telling me you can't get dr. pepper in australia?
I used to love entering competition so I've won a bunch of stuff over the years:
Microwave
Scrabble Game
Xbox
Terminator t-shirt
3 month unlimited movie pass
24" LCD Monitor (this was was an awesome surprise and I still don't know which contest I won it from)
My biggest win was from a video contest run by an online store that sold electronic goods, I entered this:
pipe are you telling me you can't get dr. pepper in australia?
you've won nothing
The manufacture and distributing rights were owned by a local company for ages and ages and it was manufactured here you could get it just in regular stores
But they ditched it in the mid nineties I guess due to poor sales (lots of people here hate it)
there was a big dry patch where it was impossible to find
but now you don't have to look hard to find it. It's imported in bulk and sold in a lot of privately owned convenience stores and specialty candy stores which seem to be pretty popular lately.
Why just a couple of weeks ago I bought a 12 pack of cans for $15. For reference, 12 packs of locally produced coke in grocery stores are about $18-$20
