I know we recently had a similar thread, but we have some kittens that will be joining us in a couple weeks and we are not decided on names. They are brothers and so we are leaning towards famous duo names, but open to suggestions.

Both of us love video games and our top choice so far is Cloud (for the silver one) and Sephiroth, but I'm thinking Sephiroth might be a bit long for a cat name.

And now for some inspiring pictures!

I'll think of some good names but first I have to say: D'awwwwwww! These threads are my favorite!

As a quick thought, in relation to your sig, the second kitten looks kinda like a Wombat... name idea?!

Also 2nd kitty's first picture makes me think he/she's got an attitude. True/false? Anything you can tell us about their personalities might help!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to meet them just yet, but I have seen many other pictures and I have a guess to personality.

The silver seems like he is very curious and kind, likes to stalk and pounce but not very aggressive towards non-toys.

The smokey one definitely seems like he has a much more assertive attitude, he will go get what he wants.

You could always go with Cloud and Zack, if you wanted to keep the FF7 names, especially since one of them is darker.

    I like Cloud/Zach or other light/dark ones like Luke/Darth.

Keep in mind that most pet names, if they are not already one syllable, will probably get shortened to one syllable over time. So, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern will probably become Rosey and Guildy or something like that. Holmes and Moriarity might become Holmes/Mo. At least that's been my experience.

This is why I wasn't so sure about Cloud and Sephiroth, because there is no good way to shorten that. There are some great suggestions here! Keep em' coming and help us come to a decision.

Also, in our computer/gaming room we are making a small mario mural and some mario related cat furniture in the way of the green pipes (in carpet) and cubes.

I used to own two cats who were brothers named Mario (black and white) and Luigi (dark gray tabby; as a toddler, I thought he was greenish gray and would draw him with a green crayon)--so, that's always an option.

Maybe Bowser and Boo? I really do think the name Boo is cute :3

I have been saving Biggs and Wedge for my cats when I get 'em.

It's a fairly obscure reference that works IMO, because Cloud and Sephy just screams 4chan or something to me.

EDIT: Oh also L'Chaim and Chutzpah, but that would be hard for some people for I would only let them pronounce it correctly, with the, uhh... phlegm.

Also, this is just personal taste, but I love names that have lots of potential fun nicknames. For example: My roommate has a big gray kitty with white socks. So her name is Socks - sorta boring. But her nicknames! We call her Socko, Miss Socko, Sockster, Sockette, Socksee... everything.

And maybe you could go with Sephiroth and just abbreviate to Seph? That might sound awkward - like you're trying to say Seth but you have a weird lisp - but it could work!

I bet everyone who gives their cat a fancy name like "Sephiroth" eventually ends up calling it some daft cat name like Mr Fuzz-Fuzz, because it is just impossible to take a creature very seriously that spends hours licking its own bottom.

    Cuuute kittens!
