I used to hate achewood and thought it was dumb. Until I, you know, actually read the comic. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to realize how funny it is. You know a comic is good when it makes you laugh more with repeat viewings.

But, you know, it's not fart jokes so maybe that's why it's pretentious. I wonder what kuntz thinks of The Big Lebowski.

The Acheworld thing is pretty cool

Except for this one doofus who never shuts up about being gay and how much he totally wants to rock Onstad's can and how rad it'd be if Ray and Beef had hot gay sex

Seriously! He is the Katchem_ash of Acheworld except instead of anime he's obsessed with dongs

It demands a position of authority or respect that is not merited?

Not seeing this. Please cite a recognized definition and explain how Achewood fits it.

Defender is so pretentious he can't even read past the first definition on dictionary.com.

I can think of many words to describe a comic which uses a massive cat cock as a punchline, but I certainly wouldn't use "pretentious."

I currently have the "I'm the guy who sucks/plus I got depression" comic as my background. That is a quality strip.

Not only is this like the first time we see ray's eyes, but having blood splurt out whenever he talks is disturbingly hilarious.

whoops, those aren't eyes, they're just his eye-bags from being stoned.

It gets much better. A lot of the stories seem disconnected but still excellent as you read through the whole series. When you get to The Kindly Ones (where everything comes to a climax basically) it is so awesome to see how all these seemingly random events tie together and he makes it work so well. Gaimen is so fucking rad.

Like $75 bucks on B&N.com, I think. It's the first three trades, only the first two trades are recolored specifically for it.

It's also oversized and in beautifully bound in a hardcover. With one of those ribbon bookmarks. And the full script for issue 19. And other neat stuff.

The first month or two is rather lacking. Part of it is because nobody's developed and there's no focus on humoristic style.
