Dentist appointments (appoitments of PAIN)

So I just got back from my regular check-up and cleaning. I really hate going to the dentist office because when they clean your teeth, they scrape at them with a pick, and it just makes me cringe to hear that hook-on-tooth sound. The worst part is when they clean your teeth with that HORRIBLE stuff to polish them up. I also hate it when the person starts talking to you when you have like 5 instrements in your mouth

    I always get the teeth scrapy because I have bad tartar. One time it was really bad and they gave me nitrous to distract me from all the jabbing-at-my-gums-with-a-pointed-metal-hook.

    Never had a cavity, though.

    I've never really seen what the big deal with going to the dentist is. the worse pain I've ever gotten from one is that odd ache you get after they scrape your teeth too much.

    I mean, I've had my wisdom teeth removed, but that was basically just "fall asleep -> wake up with numb, bloody holes in mouth"

    wasn't bad at all, not with the painkillers.

    I think it is standard, just that everyone hates them.

    Anyways, since I have braces, they also used this ultrasonic cleaner, and my god does that thing suck. They would bring it into my mouth and then my ears would be filled with static, so I got to experience all sorts of pain today! From hearing pain, to scraping pain.

    I enjoy going to the dentist. It makes me think of that Bill Murray scene in Little Shop of Horrors, and that's just a good feeling all around.

    The one time I actually had anything hurt at the dentist was when the went to give me a shot when they were pulling the tooth that had previously had a root canal and they fucking hit something that hurt like fuck and I had a bruise on my cheek the next day.

    And the dude would not stop apologizing.

    My dentist is a pretty rad dude, but since we moved I guess I'll have to find a new dentist, damn.

    I had to get 2 fillings done yesterday. Right between my front teeth.

    2 shot of freezing in my upper, front gums made my nose go numb. It was an odd feeling.

    Depends on the teeth. I had 3 impacted, so I had to go under. If it's just a straight pull they don't always put you under.

    one time the dentists gave me a local anesthetic and when he started to drill I could feel it, like really feel it

    he gave me two more shots and I could still totally feel intense pain

    turns out I'm immune to Novocaine

    Guess I've been fortunate for wisdoms. Had an impacted one cut and removed but still was just the local. Would have to be something pretty severe for wanting to be put under, extra risks and all.

    Friend was at his dentist a couple weeks back. Dentist is all jokester with him. Opens a cabinet and there's a poster with Steve Martin ala dentist.

    He didn't find it all that funny, but the rest of us sure did.

    I do now.

    I never used to.

    I used to brush my teeth like...oh...now and then.

    And then the morning of the dentist appointment, I'd brush 'em and he'd be like "your teeth look great!"

    This is after the root canal stuff. The real problem I had with my teeth is that they came in so slowly. I didn't lose my first baby tooth until like..3rd grade, and that one had to get pulled because the permanent tooth came in behind it.

    The last baby tooth I got pulled was senior year of high school.
