Because I can't get ding-a-lings to work, the hit indicator with the blut still gives it a big advantage
if you are using a custom dingalong
put "play /soundnamegoeshere.wav"
into your autoexec
and only connect to servers from the ingame server browser
if you connect with the steam server browser or from "join game" on a friend, your autoexec won't get executed before you connect, making it so your custom hitsound won't get past the sv_pure settings of the server
therefore, just load up the game and then connect to the server of your picking

That explains a lot.
It may explain *why* it doesn't work, but that is stupid/obviously a bug, and really should be fixed.

It's a sv_pure thing.
TF2 won't cache a sound until something requests to play it, and a custom dingaling is considered a mod.. so TF2 won't load it if you're on a server with strict settings.
But if you play the sound prior to joining a server, it gets cached in memory, and everything is okay.
Also, even if the Bonesaw is the better melee option, anyone trying to fight a gun with a melee weapon is pretty much screwed. So saying "it's the better weapon of two options of last resort" isn't exactly saying much.

Currently, 25 to 50% of my charges come from the Ubersaw.
melee combat is such that a marginally faster swing speed is mostly meaningless.
Yeah, that's exactly it. The way melee combat works in source you weave in and out trying to be in melee range at the "hit" phase of your strike. It's not about DPS, it's about timing.

this fix isn't that hard to remember to do once you know it, so i'm not really sweating it

Looks good, but might look more tf2-ish if you could find any older DrPepper logo to use.

Which is why scouts are so tricky at extremely close ranges.
Nothing a little eyelander can't fix.
HOLY SHIT HE CUT MY HEAD OFF FROM ACROSS THE ROOM.

tofu had some great screenshots today
gonna be honest no idea how the shit that green overlay happened to this screenshot
tyrannus where are your nikes bro?
and it plays pretty damn well too
i'm very impressed by it
yeah, there are other ways up but people seem to keep cramming themselves into the elevator and the ramp
but i think it's something that has potential to be on one of the normal servers
I like how consistent the style is, even using a new health cabinet, cart, and "do not enter" logo.
ooh i didn't notice the do not enter logo
also i like how a good amount of the maps that we played that crazy night on the honc used those air elevators
i like those elevators
i unfortunately didn't get one successful ubersaw tauntkill when the offensive team was pouring through it though
I'd guess the green is from some minor jpeg corruption.
And here I was going to suggest that somehow Nealcm's hat envy went digital.
whoa man
i got me a modest pile of hat
i'm good son, when you get to the towering pillar it just feels a little unnecessary at that point!
