Something I noticed is that people who are great with linework has serious problems with painting, while people fantastic with painting are not so great with linework!
Wakkawa, I think your arting is excellent, but something that's bothering me is the sameness of your ladies. Looking at some of your art on your site and thinking back, most of the girls you draw look really really bored, with their bellies thrust out, very soft and untoned and young, with kind of homogenous faces. I'd like to see you draw an older woman who has an intense expression on her face, who looks like she's been through some shit and looks like she could hurt someone bodily (or is actually hurting someone on the page). I know you get a lot of hassling on your art, so forgive me if I just haven't seen enough of it and I'm missing something.
One thing I have always wondered: why the hell does she have long hair? I'd either tie that shit up, or cut it ridiculously short, a la Morena Baccarin. (I know she's always depicted with long hair, so it's just a general question, not a knock on wakkawa's stylistic choice)
In case anyone is interested in seeing me fail and fail again on that latest painting I did, here's a 40+minute long time-lapse video in 5 parts. (painting took me 53 hours in real time... :-/ ) I'm not really asking for critique as I already finished the thing and I was both happy and unhappy with it and I would rather move on to the next project than look at this more now.
Disclaimer: It's not a tutorial. It just shows my process, from sketching all the way to the final touches. Just posting it here for completeness as I got tons of help here with it. The video is mainly for me to study and learn from my own mistakes plus I kinda like making the videos but it's not something I recommend anyone to watch if you want to learn drawing or painting or even if you enjoy this type of time-lapse videos as mine is way too long and boring to watch. If you do watch it, I recommend watching the first couple minutes of part one and maybe a minute from the end of part 4 and part 5 (only 3 minutes) for the final touches.
i'm searching for a style that I can produce really quickly. This is some quick pencils and some easy 30 minute color. I kinda want to make a comic, but i'm not sure i actually can yet.
ND is deliberately depriving us. Shes torturing us, because shes House.
Lupuuuuussssss
lol's...but for reals, I'll be posting something...soonish. I have a couple of things that will be post-able soon, but I hate posting one thing, then one other thing, then one other thing...I'd rather post all mah arts en masse. It'll happen! I promise!
I actually went HEEHEEHEE! when I scrolled down and saw the horse. Granted It's easier to get me to do that than it is for most people, but still. I like it!

Also, still working on this!
Yeah his expression isn't quite what I want yet. I want that faraway, look of religious ecstasy - in the old sense of the word.
It will take some fiddling!
Screwy, ain't it?
Aside from that, I think it's fantastic. Lovin' that background, too.

This is one of my favorite Samus images ever.

a little someting I did at work while I was babysitting a branch store...
let me know if I need to work more on it....
go figure...I work in a costume shop and we happen to sell props too...so it's not a real human skull, just a miniature cast in resin
I think the issues should be clear, but I can list them off if it'll help.
the skull I was working off of wasn't nearly as detailed as that...in fact it was rather flat-featured and kind of uninteresting...
I should have grabbed one of the giant ones that look really creepy....I'll do one of those next time and light it like I oughta...
that's nothing like impressionism
Red Hot Writer - what particular style are you trying to achieve? Got the reference for upload?
I'm always exited to see ND as the last post, but then disappointed when there is no art.
I was just trying to draw what was there...:(
