    Isn't Masterpiece Megatron goddamn awesome?

I've got mine posing with that laser sword he comes with, standing over a defeated Optimus Prime. (Not MP Prime, just a little one I got.)

I don't mind Optimus having lips. Mainly because Optimus Primal had lips in the first season of Beast Wars, and they were badass - mainly because whenever Primal meant business the faceplate would snap closed and his eyes would narrow. It was just really cool.

So I guess Optimus just has no trailer at all this time. I suppose that's better than the old "appears/disappears from off screen" method.

I guess they want voice actors that can be marketed.

    Hugo Weaving as Megatron!

Then again, without his original VA, that pretty much kills the original voice for half the cast, too.

Too bad, I was hoping they'd open it and it'd have that little car in there and the machine with the claw and stuff and rocket launchers.

    Nah not really.

    Actually

Frank Welker IS going to be doing a voice(s?) for the film, just not Megatron. I'm not sure the exact reason why, but I heard it was because he was getting older and the particulars for doing the Megatron voice were really hard on his vocal chords nowadays.

Yeah, Frank's voice just ain't what it used to be. He doesn't seem to be able to do Megatron like he used to; It just comes out deeper and he has a much, much harder time putting any inflection on it (or so it seemed) so it sounds like Megatron is being strained by speaking. (And while his original voice wasn't exactly crisp, it did have a range to it.)

Frank Welker does 99% of animation voices. The remaining one percent is done by actors who are voiced by Frank Welker.
