The Obama thread confuses me. Why did it not just end on, "He won the democratic primary, ran in the 2008 election, and was chosen by the majority of American voters to lead the country for the next four years." ?

Because he should have waited his turn. Or something, I kinda lost the plot on that one.

We also gave the world "Craic".

    Craic is an awesome word.

Yeah, my first time in Belfast was made more interesting by a misunderstanding of that word. :P

I had that once, when the news regurgitated a scientific theory that a nearby supernova would fry us with gamma radiation. Then the kind denizens of [chat] pointed out that said theory was based on faulty numbers and if the journalist had done his job would have noticed the rebuttal published shortly afterwards. And then I watched Newswipe, so now I'm better armed against such stories.

I spent last night at our Saga group (when I wasn't in the active party, obviously) talking up Dark Sun to the other people at the table. I may have the beginnings of a group for it. So exciting.

Now to decide where and when they will be eaten by halflings.

Everyone lives in a climate, attended a place of education and has a mental (disorder to be determined).

They are therefore eminently qualified to speak expertly on the topic.

It's like DEMOCRACY++ but intellectual instead of political.

Dude, I'm right there with ya. I'm going to be a science teacher and I'm in a masters program that has a strong lean toward helping psychologically and mentally disadvantaged students.

And yet, this being the internet, my input is worth exactly the same amount as the dude with the "GLOBAL WARMING IS A LIE, PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CORRUPTING OUR YOUTH" flier next to his monitor.

Bacon and pancakes for breakfast and I think I just heard her take something out of the oven. So, yes.

My body is busy punishing me for eating a plate and a half of food at the Chinese buffet last night, though.

    Sigh, I wish.

People are perfectly happy to have stupid viewpoints on any and every topic as far as I can tell. Think about the CERN blackhole hysteria. Or anything ever to do with stem cells in the US.

The president of the entire defense division is visiting today. We were all told to be in the lab during his visit and were sent the dress code. For some people, though, this means having to be in multiple labs during his tour. One of the senior engineers brought extra shirts so he can run between labs and change.

I like to imagine that they are fewer in number. Or possibly just less willing to admit to it.

On a related note, I overheard a real conspiracy theorist today. Bilderberg and the like. It was truly ridiculous.

As you should. Even my manager accepts that we're just going to be in there to make it look good. Hell, the program director for one of our biggest chunks of business said the same thing as well.
