Too scared to make a thread for your art? Afraid to step on toes in the chat thread? Perhaps you find the "doodles" in the doodle thread intimidating...
You can come post in this neutral ground and get a feel for the place. This is overlord approved.
Not the intent, he's supposed to be old, but the legs were my forgetfullness
The other one is supposed to be "smoking" from it. The shading pretty much erased it, there was supposed to be a slot right below the screen. Unfinished doodle and all.
Here's something I thought would be fun. How about posting our oldest, crappiest drawings and then critiquing people based on that? This way even if someone is a lurker, they don't have to admit to their work being their most recent. It could be from any stage in their artistic career. I'll go first.
I know, I know. Even 13 years ago, I was so damn good, any criticism would just be like telling the sun it don't be good at shinin'!
The problem with doing that, is that you wont be getting any meaningful critiques. And even if you did, it will likely be something that you've already corrected, just from the act of drawing over the course of 13 years.
There should be no fear in admitting what is recent work or not anyways, since the sooner you come to terms with your current skill level the sooner you can seek to improve it.

This is true. I know a lot of people who start saying the work is "old" or "not their best" as soon as people start critiquing it. Bad news - people will criticize everything you do, no matter what. Best to take the words to heart, accept your shortcomings (when they're real and not just someone being a jerk) and get better from there.
Not saying anyone is doing that here, but just a little insight into the creative and corrective process inherent to any talent. Writing, drawing, music, etc. It's all about the same in this sense.
I tried to find the oldest thing I had, to prove that critiquing old work has no merit, only to find that I still draw crappy hands and trees the same way I did in kindergarten. Fuck!

Your perspective is way off. And is that a giant ferret with gills? Come on man. Have you ever even looked at a fish ferret? They're nothing like that.

Beautiful stunning work but yeauh he has truth in this I'll chip in some old work to help.
There is no way you can possible crit me now based off this. Besides more life drawings but that's as far as you can take it with a general answer. And that I had great taste in women when I was 18
Also other lurkers POAST MOAR I am very curious to see who else traverses this forum. So come on in and post! Rear those beautiful heads!
Well I wasn't implying that we crit current skill based on old drawings. I just didn't see how people, who didn't want to make their own thread, would feel any more comfortable posting their stuff here. I guess I was hijacking, but it was all meant in good fun.
While I have no critiques on your even earlier work, I would point out that - though life would be happier and peaceful with so many animal friends - they're still far more fun to eat.

It wasn't necessarily about posting work. It's just a place for lurkers to delurk, whether that's posting art or saying hello.
That's what the SE++ lurker threads are, and they seem to work out well.

Holy crap, you drew that when you were 18? There might be hope for me yet.
Although that means I actually have to draw things.........
But back on topic, yeah I thought that picture was cute. I was thinking 'puppy or seal?' because really they look so much alike which obviously isn't your fault. It looks very good.
Edit: Oops, meant to add that to my last post. I don't know how to use an internet.
Also hams, I don't know where Mr. Dave is, I can't remember what his handle/name is elsewhere, but toji still posts stuff on DA: http://tojisuzuhara.deviantart.com/

Life isn’t divided into genres. It’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel … with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.
Are you just trying to be inflammatory? It's definitely a half seal puppy, half puppy seal.
You heathen, it is a puppy seal.
There is no such thing as half seal puppy half puppy seal. Well... unless it, like a mule, is sterile. Do you want that cute thing to be unable to reproduce?

Haha, don't worry. By default, I simply assume that everything on the internet is sarcasm, and then work backwards from there.

Does that count?
Can we be brothers?
At the very least I remember you actually do have a Pierced Neck.

Yeah, I know one of them is missing legs.

Psh, I'll just draw straight from Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon. That's how I want 'em to look anyway!
