Pretty much. 40 puts you born in 1970. Pong didn't even exist yet.
I am getting close to 40 and pong was our first videogame. We pretty much had them in our home starting around 78 or so. Which means they were part of my life for almost as far back as I can remember. Of course back then you spend your after school time at the local arcade wasting tons of quarters far more often than sitting around the house.

Tell us more, gramps.
My point is that I completely got the movie so 30 is not really a good cut off date but 40 ish seems a safer bet.
Jay just said this movie was like Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Not sure how to feel about that.
Since Scott Pilgrim's rated PG-13, hopefully people will not expect any topless scenes after that comparison.

This movie made me so happy, so very very happy.
Ok, so first of all, Alison Pill was great as Kim she nailed it, ditto for Ellen Wong and the rest of the Evil Ex's.
Patel's Indian style dance was hillarious.
My only gripe is that it felt super rushed especially after the fight with Todd, it was just like bam, fight fight fight. But thats more a problem with transcribing a 6 volume series into one movie, so of course they couldn't give me all the extra bits I wanted.
The zelda riffs, just at the beginning and then throughout everytime someone realizes something and the "secret passage" sound happens was great.
The music was amazing.
I can't say everything but, man I loved this movie.
Been playing the game all night. Almost beat it. But I have to ask, has anyone been to the radio tower area that's west of level 1 on the map? My friend and I can't figure out how to get there and were even more confused by this picture in which it's unlocked despite not having beaten the first level.
We tried finding secret passages in the first level, holding left on the map, playing with four players like in the picture, using the Konami code in various menus and the map, and holding left at the beginning of the first level. Nobody else on the internet seems to know anything about this. Does anyone here have any info we're missing?
I find it disheartening that for a movie that takes place in Toronto, based on a comic written and illustrated by a Canadian dude, there have been no early viewings here. What the hell, Wright? What the hell?
There haven't?
Also, you guys got a big deal for the last book. You had your fun.

The hell are you people doing watching Leno? I don't care who is on that's involved with Scott Pilgrim, that's an atrocity.
Ignores the very charisma of the source material to mold something one-note and glossy...clip reel of console carnage, more tuned into surface delights than treating O’Malley’s material with the sincerity and breadth it deserves.
Eh, I thought it dragged on, the 12 or so endings irritated me. I guess it wasn't that bad, at it's core, but It wasn't more than mediocre for me.
Hmm, I was worried that they wouldn't have time to deal with all the relationship with all the exes in one film.
Have to tone down my foaming at the mouth a little bit.
Just in case it might disappoint

OK, I was just in the SE++ Scott Pilgrim thread, and saw that some dumb movie reviewer called this movie "Twilight for Boys."
I think I better stay far away from Rotten Tomatoes for a while, lest I end up suffering an entirely rage-induced heart attack. This is more annoying than the hipster shit from a while back.
Seriously, if some reviewer says something akin to "darn vidja games" one more time...
Actually, I just read that "Twilight for boys" review, and aside from the moronic opening salvo of his first paragraph, he actually has some fairly legitimate gripes.

This is basically what I think, it's not an age it's a kind of person that is just not going to care for what this movie is offering.

Yeah. 30 year olds were born in 1980. The perfect time for the NES.
That is all.

Also, Wallace is awesomesauce.

Even worse, Conan would be such a better interviewer for the SP cast.
So far I've managed to keep my promise of never watching anything on NBC since the Tonight Show bullshit, and I'm not about to break that vow.
But Community! You're truly streets behind my friend.

Posted a couple page back, I believe.
Seems a bit weird releasing the score/soundtrack before the movies out though...
Uh, that's standard practice. Soundtracks/Score CDs, if there is one, are nearly always released before the movie.

Armond White giving the film a good review may give a lot of people the wrong idea, and thus avoid it.

Just seems odd, I guess.
Keep in mind, he also liked Coraline.
Even a stopped clock is still right twice a day. :P
He liked A.I. as well so he does have moments of clarity.

Well I liked Minority Report more but I thought A.I. was overall solid.
