I will add you to the game after this round, unless someone has a good reason why we shouldn't do that. Because this is a win-win, in my opinion. Tie votes are a bitch, and you are a rad dude.
We shouldn't do that because it's against the rules.

Not as far as I can tell.
So, what, anything that isn't explicitly disallowed in the rules is okay? I guess I can just go ahead and fill in 200 points next to my name then. Oh wait, I can't because it's not my thread.
Listen, nowhere in the rules does it say that you have administrative rights over the game. As far as I'm concerned you're just another player, with the responsibility of editing the OP for convenience. If you want to make a change to the game then you need to get a rule passed like anybody else, and adding a new player definitely qualifies as a change.

I think, at this point, we can all agree to this without some sort of bullshit rule. I can understand if its 45032890473047 rules in, but its not. Its close to the beginning of the game and, as much as I'd be a stickler, we've made one new rule....lets just not be cocks here, k?

I'm not being a cock. The entire purpose of this game is strict adherence to rules. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it were any other game, but adding new players to the game constitutes a rule change. It sucks that Rank didn't join earlier, but now that the game has started the rules are not flexible.
I have no issue with letting him join. Make a proposal and I'll vote for it.
I know that since the game started, I'm just another player. And adding Rank to the game, while not explicitly against the rules, is certainly an act that would occur outside them. I think that we can all agree that it would add to the game, however, and have a gentleman's agreement to let him slip in after this round.
Also, you can't give yourself points. There are rules regulating that. There is no rule about adding players to the game, so technically, it is A-OK under Rule 116.

Well, fine, just so long as that's the interpretation of 116 that we're going to stick with. I don't think you'll like the direction that takes the game though. Which rule is it that regulates giving yourself points?

Rules 202, 204, 206, and 208 all have to do with points.
No rule has anything to do with adding players.
Therefore, Rule 116 is applicable for the latter, but not the former.
Fair enough. So your final answer is that, according to 116, any aspect of the game not explicitly controlled by a rule is not regulated and thus any related player action is completely permissible?
So wait, If you have to vote on the rule you yourself proposed, then during the first round couldn't you just wait until one person votes against and then do the same to avoid loss of points and to gain 10 at the same time?

No, not in the first round because if you voted against it the proposal would fail. And you would still lose points. But yes, from the second round on you can vote against your own proposal and if it still passes you'll gain 10 extra points.

One would assume yes, as a strategic method.
No, because that only becomes active once mandatory unanimity is eliminated.
This game just made me type the phrase "mandatory unanimity."
If this wasn't the first round, I'd say a vote would be required for Rank's entry. But it is, so I won't. Let Rank join.
Umm, hold on. Have we decided Rank's entry is reliant on me saying yes to this?
I'll only vote yes if Rank's joining the game is independent of the current proposition, mostly because I think Zek's being cocky and argumentative, and I want him to be wrong.

Yeah, that sucks. Want to change it?
the one that says everyone else has to vote on your proposal.
Good luck getting people to vote on "HEY GUYS I WIN!"
I don't need a proposal, I'll just be writing it on the list there.

But I did make an offer, and I will stick to it. I am changing my vote.
I vote in favor of the active proposition.

It just sucks that all first-round votes require unanimity to pass.

As inconstant as the wind.
He did.
I just want Rank in the game, and I'm not too attached to Rule 204 to begin with.
