Scintillating stuff there, Chick! Top-quality drama. Why would his wife do such a thing to him?!

Years ago, someone on this forum had a signature with the first panel photoshopped so that he was saying something like "This is a shit sandwich. It is made of ass and poo." I never knew its origin was a Chick tract, and for this knowledge I thank you.

    No problem!

I've read every tract he's ever done, mostly for humor and partly so I know what lies he's spewing in case I ever encounter them in the real world.

What's the consensus on dropping Chick Tracts in the mailbox? That doesn't seem as bothersome as knocking on doors but it's still a form of proselytizing.

Those are hilarious and I was thinking of collecting them. I mean, they are just so hateful and completely unashamed of it. It's like looking into the mind of a madman.

I wanted to start a Photoshop thread for Chick Tracts but it could be seen as offensive to bigots, so I never did.

It kind of does. Unexpectedly showing porn to people you've invited into your house is pretty boorish behavior. If he didn't want to listen to their religious spiel, he could have just shut the door. It's not like they were forcing anything on him.

Politely knocking on someone's door constitutes harassment? He could have just told them to go away and they would have.

    Man. Peanut butter.

There's just some times, murder should be legal.

no, you miss the central point of most Chick tracts: regardless of what's illegal, you can do anything you want and get away without consequences as long as you are are really sorry and put your faith in Jesus afterwards.

This is actually a common Christian thing, not just Chick. If you have, in the past, committed sins be they terrible or whatever, if you repent you can still get into heaven, etc etc. People seem to say the above as an attack on Christianity as a whole without taking in the entire idea.

Most places are sure to stress that you have to actually repent though. Saying "jesus is awesome" out loud but feeling no remorse or whatever for your actions doesn't count. And why would it? If you are actually repentant, then you'll be forgiven, because that's what God does. (According to Christianity and whatnot) If you go rob a bank thinking "I have a get out of hell free card" you are incredibly mistaken, and do not understand the concept of repentance.

Not saying that that is what you are doing up there, but just clarifying that bit.

The Jewish version is that god will let you escape with your puny life as long as you say "uncle" and don't turn around. He even let David keep his crown after the crap he pulled.

No, they came to his home to ask him if they could share their beliefs with him.

He agreed, and then instead did something highly inappropriate, solely because of their faith.

He could have just as easily politely said no, and let them be on their way, without wasting their time.

You see, Sniper Guy, Disco's gay friend displayed obscene material to the hated Christians. They're sub-human so it's okay to insult them. Heck! Offending Christians will get you all sorts of kudos from your internet chums.

If Disco's friend did what he did to real people he invited inside, he would have been a jerk. Now let's all watch some youtube videos of people throwing water balloons at Christians on the doorstep and we'll go out for frosty, chocolate milkshakes afterward.

I think it depends on intent here. If they came over with the goal of telling him what a rotten homo he was and that he was going straight to hell for fudge packing, then it is completely OK to subject them to gay porn and I say the more perverted the better. If on the other hand they wander over simply for the sake of saying stupid mormon stuff it is not OK to turn on the prono, just tell them to GTFO.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a dick for the sake of being a dick, if it get's him a laugh, fuck it. But it still makes him a jerk.

Deliberatly going out of your way to offend someone is a dickish thing to do. Asking someone if they'd like to hear about Jesus isn't. If they say no, and you continue telling them about Jesus, yes, that's a dickish thing to do.

Or if they refused to leave. Telling them- "Thanks for stopping by, but I'm going to now watch Beach Butt Boys XII"- that would be fine too. Putting on porn is a great way to get unwanted guests to clear out, especially in-laws.

This is a group from a church at the end of my street. Apparently they have been grouping in front of a [lesbian/gay] couple's house and reading their bible loudly for the past 7 years. They may have also driven another couple from the area as well by doing the same thing. Tonight most of our neighbours came out and were successful in getting them to leave. The people who go to that church don't even live in our area! Police came by shortly thereafter.

I have more of that if it's what you want
    Oh, right, sorry.

I've read most of the tracts over the years. They are amusing, but I have to constantly remind myself that they're deadly serious.

The "death cookie" is one of my favorites.

Death cookie... it's like a Saturday morning cartoon or something

Wait wait, he's railing against communion? Of all the things in Catholic dogma to rail against ritualized symbolic cannibalism isn't one of them.

Chick is violently anti-Catholic. Which, you know, I'm not a Catholic myself but the nightmare world he makes Catholics live in is insane. All Catholic characters in a Chick tract are fat/ugly/evil. Every last one of them.

No, anyone that doesn't agree with Chick is fat/ugly/evil.

And many of his evil characters, especially the secular/liberal ones, are drawn stereotypically Jewish.

By way of example for the earlier Catholic hate in tracts:

Most people who are "on the fence" are on the fence because they don't know anything about politics and neither does anyone they regularly talk to. The informed, legitimately conflicted voter is a myth. The most effective way to reach these un-engaged people is to knock on their door and try to have a conversation with them.

I bet there's people out there who really are interested in saving money on their long distance bill, too. It's still no excuse to interrupt dinner, it's just politicians once again exempting themselves from "everyone else's rules".

And political marketers aren't interested in informing people about shit, they're interested in winning. They'll no more discuss their side's flaws than a Coke commercial will talk about diabetes. At least when Billy Mays and Vince Offer were "informing" me about stuff they were entertaining.

When one oppressed minority group which has won its legal struggle for civil rights oppresses another minority group that hasn't, it's actually much more hurtful than when privileged white people do it.

Sorry for being the one to point this out, but it's fucking true.

And man made God in his image. The ego in the first frame alone is astounding.
