I had a hilariously badass moment last night in my Insanity run. I had Garrus and Zaeed with me on Purgatory and they both ate it fighting a YMIR mech. I finished it off with a headshot which set off its nuclear explosion. Garrus and Zaeed revived when it died but before the explosion finished, so they come running back to rejoin me right through the mushroom cloud. So friggin' awesome.

Because I'm going to buy a hat before the orgy then nuke existence so that for some unexplained stupid reason I become a god. Then I will create a street, a streetlamp and rain and will spend the rest of eternity (though time has no meaning anymore) singing "Dancing in the Rain"

I'm pumped for the Shadow Broker DLC. It's gonna be sweet to have Liara flay some dudes with her mind.
I finished Horizon on my Insanity Infiltrator last night, and it was surprisingly not too difficult. The final battle took me about 8 tries, but I only died when I got impatient or made a bad move. I had Zaeed and Grunt with dual Mattocks, which absolutely chewed through the Collectors with Squad Incendiary. Those tough SOBs didn't fall once during the Pretorian fight, and I was able to finish it off pretty easily with their Concussive Shots and my Collector Beam. The worst part of the whole fight was having to leave cover to deal with rushing Husks. Bring on the Collector Ship!
The Mattock is pretty much a cheat code. That gun is sick.
Ha ha, yeah, when squad members shoot things with it, there's actually a chance they'll kill something! I've never fired an assault rifle in ME2 myself, so I don't know how it compares to the stock guns. I'll give it a whirl when I do a Soldier playthrough, but that will have to wait for the next DLC after the Shadow Broker.

Well. The main selling point of the Mattlock is that it is as accurate as a sniper rifle, yet it doesn't have zoom so it is really easy to quickly line up headshots.
That because said, AR in general are the best weapons in the game. Mainly since they're good in every situation.

The Mattock also does crazy amounts of damage. It's like a Viper without the zoom.
this is my first time running as soldier in ME2, and i have to say
the default assault rifle SUCKS.
glad i have the mattock, that thing was awesome on my adept. adrenaline rush should make it even better. :^:

I don't remember the default AR being quite that bad...then again I think I switched to the Collector AR just 'cuz so maybe that's what I'm remembering.

Default isn't bad, persay, just outclassed by pretty much every other AR. It still has a pretty good RoF though.

shuriken has 20.5 base damage, 1.5 multi versus barriers and shields
avenger has 10.5 base damage, 1.25 multi versus barriers and shields
fire rate is super close
as i said, only thing avenger has on shuriken is sustained fire
