Eve Online is a political, sandbox, spaceship, economic, military MMO in which you can literally do anything. It takes a departure from other MMOs in that it all occurs on a single server or universe and skills are trained 24/7 in a time-based queue (as opposed to a physical grind.) While the game has a learning curve, most people usually join in the following progression:

1) This is interesting I shall try it.
2) Mining is fun.
3) Mining is not fun.
4) I am bored with missions and the new season of Fringe is starting, I'm quitting
5) *6 months later* You know some political thing happened and everyone is talking about it, I'll give it another shot.
6) This is better than I remember.
7) Skills are taking forever, I wonder if I can get out to nullsec
8) T2 guns are almost done *suicide*

If you can get past that suicide in #8, you're hooked for life. The hook comes from the fact you can choose to do anything, administrate, mine, fight, trade, or construct the tools to do any of those things. It literally is a sandbox. Every six months or so new features are added, which may or may not fix or unfix some continuing lag issues that occur in larger fleet battles. Regardless, it's ever-evolving and you should try it! The current expansion is the Tyrannis update which was released several months ago and added planetary colonies to the mix. Here is a general up to date guide, but it has everything so prepare to skim.
header_292x136.jpg?t=1275007476

Organizations are based on corporations, which then band together to form alliances. These powerblocs often ally with other alliances to form coalitions. For more information on the biggest Penny Arcade presence in EvE, check out the:
Any other corps out there with PA members, let me know so we can add you here. There are also a variety of trailers, which I encourage you to youtube because they are all about 3 minutes of awesomeness. Here is the most recent one, and the best one:

So, I don't think much has been mentioned about the news for the new expansion yet. Here's a link to the article at massively: CCP unveils EVE Online's latest expansion

    re: the different points.

    1. This kinda scares me. I run a pretty big PI farm even if it's a horrible clickfest, but...
    CCP wrote:
CCP became dissatisfied with the fact that players would set up their colonies and mining operations and then leave them be. So to encourage subscribers to keep tabs on their colonial investments, the game will now encourage players to check on their investments periodically and tweak them depending on how low resources are getting and where better deposits lie.

Now we're going to have to log twice daily to click all our extractors over again just to continue scraping a meager profit? Ugh... 23 hour cycles were already pushing my limit.

    2. This seems pretty cool, and could be a nice way of reinvigorating Low Sec. But c'mon, faction supercaps? :cripes:
    CCP wrote:
If the mothership goes kablooey, then ISK and loyalty points will be had by all, in addition to the brand-new blueprints to said defeated mothership

    3. Eve gate stuff, eh, ok?

    4. New character portraits are cool i guess. I'll believe incarna when they hopefully reveal it fully at fanfast.

Personally I don't give a good fucking damn about PvE, walking in stations, new portraits, EVE Gate or PI (especially not PI, chist). What are they doing about lag!?

Either the one universe doesn't work and there never will be a true solution until sharding, or they just don't care.

Sorry to piss all over the first page but i'm just so tired of CCP. Nul-sec alliances are the meat of the game. Everything else is just gristle to me.

    Fuck it, /rant over.

How active is the Merch? I finally got them to send me an e-mail in response to my account issue so I can now reactivate it.

Merchi is quite active. We've normally got 10-20 people on depending on TZ's.

As for ops, goons and friends have stuff going on all the time.

I think that they definitely have some work to do with the PI stuff, and I'm glad it's getting an overhaul. I'm a bit sad to hear that Incarta or whatever they were calling it is not happening this year, but it's hardly a surprise. These "incursions" seem to be pretty similar with what's been happening around Minmatar space lately with the Sansha. I participated in one and it was pretty fun, even though I lost a ship to Electus Matari for stealing their loot. I had only been playing for about a month and it was definitely one of those 'lesson learned' moments. They are something else for the empire mission runners to do. Seems like a pretty minor expansion.

Yeah, it sounds like they're automating the invasions that are already happening and taking them up a notch. It does sound like a good idea to help nudge players into more dangerous situations.

Some good ideas, but pretty light for an expansion. Is this where I mention they only have x number of devs working on EVE?

Well, Atlas never gave up the supercapitals, so Chribba gave back the isk. From the sounds of it what people are left in Atlas were moving to around Providence. Nothing really that exciting :?

Once you are accepted to the corp, the best method is called pod jumping.

Set your clone to N-Theta We Trust. Undock in your pod. Self destruct. Leave everything behind if you've finished the tutorials, we'll give you plenty of money to get started up North. Just please, don't try to fly up, it's not worth the trouble.

Since it's such a pain in the butt to move north, I think I'll train my Minmatar up and firesale whatever he has at the end of the tutorials and go north that way, instead of abandoning my Caldari miner's shit. I'll keep her to use as a neutral market buyer slash source of extra income.

You have to wait for the great courthouse, who...as Avynte said, is sick.

So, I've been out of game for like a week and a half due to school starting and making my life hell.

I finally finished my first set of homework and got a head start on this weeks homework, was about to sit down and finally play some Eve WHEN!

The wife informs me it's time to go run errands and consume a large chunk of my day doing nothing that benefits me.

    Grumble grumble.

At least T2 large AC's will be done soon....

if waiting a day or 2 bothers you then you are playing the wrong game... do the tutorials and get used to the stuff. train things from the 30 day newbie plan so you can actually do something when you get accepted. you will make way more money salvaging in 0.0 than you would doing level 1 or 2 or even 3 missions in empire. I have spoilered the plan. In like 3 days you should be good to go for salvaging and in pretty much a day you can fly a rifter and actually be useful in pvp.

I do have another character I can play, I suppose. I tried a mission earlier... I just couldn't pick up the crate of cargo pods I needed, even though I was at the station. I'll play some more after we're done with D&D tonight.

And WTF do you mean by spy? I ain't no spy.

How active is the corp after DT?
I've been looking to join but worried that no one would be on in my TZ (Japan).
