if silva knew how make himself money, this is where he would take a page out of sonnen's book and make fun of vitor about how he's ducking the awesomest puncher ever to fight a washed up puncher or maybe he saw the sonnen fight and is afraid of the ground so he's going to boxing instead, or a combination of the two

Last Time I Defeated The Myth, This Time I'm Defeating The Man
UFC middleweight number one contender, Chael Sonnen has been speaking about being granted an immediate rematch with Anderson Silva around the turn of the year, explaining the first time he defeated the myth, now he’s planning on taking out the legend.
The Verbal Assault Goes On: Micheal Bisping Calls Patrick Cote Irrevelant (And A Piece Of Shit)
"UFC middleweight contender, Michael Bisping has launched a verbal attack on former title contender, Patrick Cote, labelling the French Canadian an “irrelevant piece of sh*t” who needs to get back in the gym rather than talk trash about him."

So he says...and it seems he's still undecided. "It's about how I feel and if I want to go back and make a run at a title and how far away that would be. And whatever I think is left in the tank. I've been doing PR stuff for the last couple months, and I'll finally be home for the month. I'll probably decide sometime in September, when I have time to relax.... I don't feel like there's anything left to prove. I still love fighting, but there's a lot that goes into it. Maybe it might be time. I'm just not sure yet. You know, I've enjoyed the ride. No matter what, I've had a good time. I never expected it, but I've gotten paid a lot to do what I love. There are no complaints."
Plans For International UFC Tournament Is In The Works
For years, many mixed martial arts fans have wondered aloud why their favorite sport isn't a part of the Olympic Games.
After all, with boxing, judo, wrestling and tae kwon do already slated as modern Olympic events, what's the problem with adding the arts together?
That's an argument for another time and place. UFC president Dana White has far more pressing concerns on his mind. And besides, he envisions an international tournament staged far more frequently than every Olympiad.
"What we're starting to do now is we're working on ways to get 'The Ultimate Fighter' in other countries," White said. "We're going to start getting 'The Ultimate Fighter' in each of these different countries and try to figure out how when we do the finales, the finale would be all the countries come together and everybody fights."
Below is the link to the full story and the website:
White has long discussed the plan for international versions of the long-running Spike TV series "The Ultimate Fighter." Canada and the Middle East have been tagged as frontrunners, though the UFC's recent expansion into China has also opened up another potential market.
White said he envisions a system in which the multiple versions of the show can run simultaneously and culminate in a massive international finale. And while there was some initial concern that fans would find it difficult to track the results of the international versions of "The Ultimate Fighter," White said as the promotion expands, company officials are actively seeking out ways to broadcast the fights around the globe.
"Technology is our friend," White said. "There's more ways to watch this stuff. People will be able to watch the 'The Ultimate Fighter' from other countries online or however. That's our long-term goal and what we're working on and trying to figure out how to do it."
White has admitted in the past that as the company visits foreign lands, the prized recruits will likely be found in the sport's smaller divisions. As such, he sees WEC-focused versions of "The Ultimate Fighter" on the horizon, and he still sees the flyweight division as part of the sister promotion's future.
"As we continue to do more fights and continue to travel around, we need more weight divisions," White said. "So we're going to be adding weight divisions and getting those lighter weights in there."
With the UFC already operating at a breakneck speed, it's hard to imagine the promotion's activities multiplied exponentially on a global scale, but White seems to think it's possible.
And while some fans are concerned the quality of the sport may be diluted over time, White has no such fears.
"It's scary how many fights (we're going to do)," White said. We just did four fights last month. As this thing continues to open up to different places, and as long as we can keep putting on great cards, we're just going to keep popping out fights left and right.
Stephan Bonnar v.s Igor Pokrajac For TUF 12 Finale
Stephan Bonnar (12-7 MMA, 6-6 UFC), finalist in the original season of "The Ultimate Fighter," returns to where it all began.
Well, kind of.
While he'll compete at a different venue that the night of his legendary April 2005 battle with Forrest Griffin, Bonnar will fight Igor Pokrajac (22-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in Las Vegas on a live finale of "The Ultimate Fighter." This time, it's the soon-to-debut 12th season.
News of the intended matchup was first reported on Friday by "MMA Live's" Jon Anik. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed that verbal agreements are in place, though contracts have yet to be distributed.
As MMAjunkie.com first reported, The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale has not yet been officially announced by the organization but is expected to take place Dec. 4 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
FO: "On the Ultimate Fighter the other competitors made assumptions about your sexuality. How did you feel about it?"
NR: "People call me 'Light in Loafers' and so on. Honestly, I don't really care. Either you're tough or you're not. You can act as tough as you want to; all that matters is what you do in the ring. I'm not all about the tattoos or pit bulls or tight TapouT t shirts. The only place you're going to prove yourself is in the cage. As far as the attitude goes, I'm there to have fun. I think too many MMA fighters are all about trying to play the part and not enough about the training and the conditioning. It is competition but there's no reason to act like a jackass the rest of the time and I think too many guys do. I know what I can do in the ring so i don't care what other people think. Does it matter how I act outside the ring, or does it matter how I act inside the ring? The fight is actually what matters. They tried to portray me as a kind of gay guy or whatever. I thought it was funny and my friends back home all laughed"
FO: "You later said you were playing it up almost. Were you just having fun at their expense?"
NR: "You had Yager on the show. He was very homophobic and he was also a big germ freak. They didn't show that part. He'd complain about people not washing their hands or reaching in to the fridge. I poked a lot of fun at him that way. I would kind of have fun with some of the guys, especially if they were really quirky like Yager was. It was pretty easy. I like Yager. He was fun to live with. He was really homophobic and they started calling me gay so I started acting gay. I was like, 'Ok fine. You want gay - I'll give you gay.'"
Shinya Aoki will face the man who once submitted Takanori Gomi, Marcus Aurelio, in what should be a very interesting clash of styles. Non-title.
Kazuyuki Miyata will take on Shooto’s poster boy Lion Takeshi in a fight that’s a little badly matched in my opinion (I would’ve rather seen Lion face Hansen or Takaya or someone like that).

Awesome. This topic has been brought up here before, I'm most happy to see it being considered. They're not doing it the way I imagined, but this seems like a really cool format, the whole international tournament thing. The tournament system has a lot of potential and throwing in the international market just makes things all the more diverse and interesting.
I've been thinking a lot about tournament style events. I'd like to see them come back to popular MMA. Certainly, no fighter should fight more than one fight per event and with injury rates being what they are, tournaments may well be too risky, but I feel they would create tension, excitement and clear achievable goals for fighters. I think it might also endear fighters more to the public. We get to watch and root for them as they make their way towards the big fight.
I'd certainly rather watch an elimination tournament than a season of TUF.
I've had that exact same thought myself. I've been expecting TUF to morph into something like that when it outgrows its current form, but who knows when/if that will happen. It is also I think very interesting if one looks at markets the UFC wants to break into, such as more of Europe, more of Japan, and new markets of China and India. Putting on TUF-like events is a good way of providing hype for fighters and events. I think a reality TV show isn't the right format for targeting foreigners (and foreign fighters) in most cases, but a tournament? You can throw whoever you want in a tournament and make it be interesting.
I dont think the time is quite right for this yet, but imagine a show, featuring Chinese fighters who want to get into the UFC. A TUF style may appeal to the Chinese audience (I have no idea what they watch on TV), but the rest of the world wouldn't care. Instead have a tournament, or tournament style of fights where guys compete to get a UFC/WEC contract, or something. Have blurbs hyping the fighters, showing them training and the like. Mix up the rules of the tournament to make it more engaging over time, and to make it easier for the audience to remember the fighters. The team format may be useful here, along with multiple wild-card matches.
Anyway, yeah, lots of potential for elimination tournaments. I don't care about huge, best in the world type tournaments. I think ones involving lower level fighters are a great way to show-case their skills though.
I have to admit, I like White's ambition. These kind of grand ideas are what I've been thirsting for. At least now, all I have to do is wait instead of hoping.
As you can tell from the trailer, the main reason why Sakuraba's fighting Miller is because both of those men have some of the best entrances ever.
I severely hope Miller and Sakuraba end up on the ground instead of on the feet. I like Sakuraba's chances there alot more than the latter.
TRANSLATION FOR THE VIDEO FOR SAKURABA:
Saku says that he wanna fight someone he can have fun with while fighting, and that the fight gotta be something the crowd can also go crazy while watching.
"If it's in the middleweight division, I would say Melvin Manhoef who KO'd me, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, and Mayhem who fought Jacare." "Mayhem is very interesting to watch. I get worked up about fighting him.
Even though I may lose the fight, I'm still excited coz I simply wanna fight him.
I am no Bisping fan, but as a Brit I do think he gets way too much hate. He is a top 15 at best gatekeeper who is well rounded but lacks any kind of power or submission skills that I have seen baring TKO's that are mostly his cardio > theres.
His douch moments for me were after the Hamill fight (he apologised, Hamill forgave him) and moments on TUF 9 which lets face it, it's reality TV. My issue is 2 fold:
1. People talk shit about him, usually in order to gain some kind of fan favour (ala Cote who is bordering on irrelevant) as they know he is a draw due to being so...polarising, when he retaliates it's HIM that's labelled a shit talker.
2. Any moments of class are ignored, like after the Kang fight, after the Miller fight (and during) or before the Wand fight when it was Silva talking shit.
I get that he is annoying, he trys to come off like he doesn't care what people think but he clearly does (this is where Sonnen shines, they guy just does not give a fuck) but the man earns my respect for never turning down a fight or ducking an opponent, even after Hendo blew his jaw up with Dynamite he still wanted Wand straight after (he got Kang but was asking for Wand first).

I might have missed it, but did anyone mention in this thread that Okami/Belfort was signed to be the main event for UFC 122 in Germany? It'll be on Spike.

Hmm, odd choice. Okami is in such an odd position. He was promised a title shot years ago, and is hanging in a sort of limbo. His wrestling and decision style fighting could pose problems for the explosive Vitor, who is worth far more to the UFC than Okami is. Interesting anyway, and free fights are always good.
Every division needs an Asian grappler that mercilessly fucks the shit out of everyone.
Any idea where we can get an Asian heavyweight that "mercilessly fucks the shit out of everyone"? I can't think of too many that fit that mold currently
Here's what Frank Mir said in its entirety regarding the situation:
“I don’t know if he’s ever really lost his step. I just think the fighters now in the UFC are just a little bit more aggressive than the fighters in PRIDE. Studying tape on him, I noticed that guys that back away from him and give him that respect, it seems like they get unleashed on a little harder than the guys that come forward… I think Cro Cop has a good sprawl; he has a good double underhooks. I think if I were to try to just drop and shoot on him, he would stop my shot. I think standing up with him is actually the route to go at first and then eventually when you work in the clinch, going to the ground is obviously a lot easier to do with him than Nogueira.”
DREAM Is In Negotiations With... Ultra Draw X?
Kamipro chief-in-editor Saito talked with FEG president Tanikawa today for the next issue of Kamipro. He tweeted some quotes by Tanikawa.
“Our new form with PUJI will be ready by the end of this month.”
“When the new form is settled we’ll have great influence again.”
“All problems/questions will be settled/solved in September, October.”
“An offer was made to ultra draw X for DREAM.16. It won’t happen this time but if we come to terms I want him to come forth on NYE.”
He also said that he wants to start putting on womens fights (starting with stand-up fights) from NYE or next year and onward and that he isn’t worried (about the competition) about SRC holding a NYE event. He isn’t against them doing something together as last year though.
Shine Fights In Dark Days - Unsanctioned By Virginia, Sunny in Oklahoma
With just days to go, Shine Fights has moved their embattled Lightweight Grand Prix to the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma. However, the event will now be unsanctioned and MMARising.com has confirmed that the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission will have zero involvement.
Shine Fights representatives contacted the OSAC prior to the event’s move and were informed that the commission would not approve the tournament format that the promotion intends to use. As a result, no commission will be present at the event in Newkirk if it proceeds as planned on Friday.
The Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix was originally set to take place at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia, but the event was scrapped this past weekend by the Virginia commission. According to Shine Fights, issues at hand were concerns over a “fan matchmaking” concept that allowed fans to choose the first-round matchups, as well as reports from MMA media that painted the promotion in a negative light. Shine Fights CEO Devin Price maintains that his promotion met all obligations from a failed May 15th card in North Carolina and that online reports suggesting otherwise had been instrumental in the cancellation of the Virginia event.
James Toney: "TELL BELFORT LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN"
James Toney responds to Vitor Belfort:
Earlier today, UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort released a statement urging UFC President Dana White to allow him to face future boxing Hall of Famer James "Lights Out" Toney in a boxing match. "Dana, let me fight James Toney on a 6 round boxing match. I think I can catch him with my speed. Dana, this will be the first boxing match in UFC and I promise he will feel my power and we will show the world that a UFC fighter can do better," Belfort posted on his Twittr account. Naturally, upon hearing the news, Toney wasted no time in replying to the Brazilian knockout artist. "Tell Vitor Belfort let's make it happen. I like that because he ain't no scared little bitch. He wants to come to my world and I'm more than willing to welcome him into my world," Toney would inform FightHype.com moments ago.

Cool, thanks. Thats... a very odd thing to put on a shirt.
It should have ended with "209, bitch!" instead of the Welterweight Champion of the World thing.
What I don't get was he paid to do this? I assume he's friends with Nick Diaz but where did he go to make that shirt? Did Nick write it? Are these available to the public?
I hope this doesn't start a trend with fighters wearing tl;dr shirts during their interviews

Great minds think alike. I did a little investigative work:
It reads:
"Nick Diaz - Coming from a troubled past of delinquent and criminal behavior, he has changed his life for the better by finding a different path. With the introduction of jiu-jitsu, Nick was able to shed the image of old and start anew. Now known as an intelligent fighter coupled with explosive striking skills, Nick can claim what very few can, Welterweight Champion of the World."
