Free stories online

Do you guys know of a place where I can read free stories? I've found a couple of short story websites, but they are really short, like a couple of paragraphs, which is fine, but I'm looking for something a little longer to keep me entertained while I take the 30 min train ride from work to my home.

It doesn't matter what they're about. I just want to read something.

You could always try Google Books.

Google books is cool, but I can't copy past it to a word document. Usually, I print it at work and I try to use as little pages as possible.

I'll also check the writer's block!

All of H.P. Lovecraft's stories are public domain and can be read here.

A lot of the same stuff as Gutenberg but I think the site is a lot more user friendly, it also has stories regular people write and put up, and a variety of options. I use it to get all the classics for my e-reader.

To help narrow things down a bit, might I suggest Ambrose Bierce as a beginning?

If you like the stuff Baen Books publishes, there's the Baen Free Library and various sites that collect the free CDs they pack in with some books (legally)

The Kindle and Nook stores have a bunch of free eBooks, but I think you can find most of the selection at the Gutenberg site. Nook runs a weekly themed promotion that, in addition to the free books fitting the theme, tends to include 1 or 2 books that normally cost money.
