Am I too early? I know its only September, but i couldn't remember when we started this last year, and just thought I'd check in, and see if I need to start stalking anyone soon...

Think you're fine so far. We haven't started it up - more likely whoever decides to take the reins will start organizing in October or November. Usually, the thread will get stickied, so it'll appear at the top no matter what when things get going.
But if you want to start prepping now, I think your (eventual) santee would be very happy.
If sending books is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Though to be fair, it's funny that both "OMG BOOKS!" and "... just send everyone World War Z" are both memes of the event.
And yeah, I always look forward to this, but don't they usually officially get underway late October/early November?
Edit: which isn't meant as a criticism, more just that I wouldn't be surprised if it hadn't occurred to many people yet, as we're 1-2 months from the usual mega threads.

In all fairness, Secret Santas have to start a little earlier than your shopping for anyone else, if you want to do proper stalking and gift personalization. I end up never having time to do anything more than "here's some stuff I think is great which I hope you will also like", but given the past history of LewieP's Mummy, I can see why she wants an early start.

Man Christmas Creep just shows up earlier and earlier each year...
Don't war on Christmas.
I'm not anti-Christmas in any sense. But it's SEPTEMBER.
There are two other American holidays still to come (Thanksgiving and Halloween).
When I worked at Wal-Mart we got our Christmas trees the first or second week of September. So you're too late. It's already happening. Soon, August will be consumed.
At any rate the fine lady is right, it does seem about time to maybe start organizing this. Or giving it consideration. Who is gonna manage it this year? I -might- get involved (for the first time!).
I'd be up for an early start if Doc is running it again this year, its tough to stalk someone and get stuff together in time. plus if we had our santees early we would be able to follow them longer, which is good.

I'm going to assume that was not the right Spartan?

How did you like your candy from the last one? And all the other stuff?
I am curious what people have got previous years.
I got a tray for serving deviled eggs (not from this forum, I missed it last year). Bizarre but very practical at my next party. Also, the tray rocked for just holding party mix.
Probably a lame regift, but it found a good home.

Machismo kinda brings up a good idea; has anyone cataloged gifts people have gotten for one-another? Not that it's important to keep track of but I'm kinda curious about it too.
Last year was when JAEF got someone a fucking Playstation 3 and some games, right? Good lord.
JAEF hooked my ass up for 2008. Swag all over the place, fitting fare from the forums style, the whole nine yards. (only mentioned because I was struggling to remember how JAEF and I were tied together (:winky:) in these shenanigans)
It's all about the giving, but it never ceases to amaze me how generous people are to (often) absolute strangers. I participate in the D&D and G&T ones each year, and people have spent ridiculous amounts on shipping alone, just to brighten someone's day.
To say nothing of the Bunny adventures for those who would otherwise fall through the cracks for one reason or another.

I look forward to the Secret Santa every year. It gives me the warm and fuzzy feelings inside knowing how much effort we go through for eachother.

I had so much fun with it.
I can't decide if I should do D&D again or G&T this year.

Obvious answer is both.
I would love to do both.
$$$ is an issue.

Alternatively, bleach.
I would actually love some good books :P

I think someone got a kangaroo ballsack once. That always amused me.

I'd love a Halloween Santa. We send candy.

Do we still ban people who bitch about their gifts? I forget.
I'll forever adore LewieP for threatening to send K_A a bunch of shit that was counter-K_A when that stuff was being discussed, oh lordy.
hopefully I get henroid as my santee, then I can send him some actually good internet
henroid sends someone a resume.
someone sends henroid a job.
This is the best fucking post I have ever read on this forum.
Well, in all fairness, you do realize that you don't need to wait for Secret Santa for this?
Like,
You can just pretend that Starbucks is the forum.

Pretty sure that was also JAEF.
Edit: Also, for the guy asking about a listing of who got what:
Secret Santa 2008
Secret Santa 2009
I don't even care! Christmas hurrah!
