Vera is a strange case. At HW he was an exciting fighter, but then he moved down and the only exciting thing he produced since was TKOing Mike Patt with leg kicks
It's like he can't fucking pull the trigger when he fights nowadays
I can't be the only person who trained and wore contacts right? Because i've had mine knocked the fuck out of my face quite a few times yet I never ever see it happen in professional bouts. Do they just go without? I know i've done that before depending on how intense the sparring session was but it's interesting.
Bas Rutten fought Kevin Randleman with contacts. He lost one and the other broke. He also had to vomit out blood between rounds, buts neither here nor there.
There's also a clip somewhere of a fighter getting knocked the fuck out were his contact lands right on the camera lens. Can't remember which fighter though.
So that happens.
Edit: That happened to Ray Elbe. Here is the clip:

I wear glasses to train and just take them off beforehand. Unless your vision is really really bad it doesn't seem like you should need to wear contacts or glasses.

I would imagine that most fighters, if they could afford it, would get the laser surgery if they were aiming at professional careers
I'm sure they could still fight without perfect vision, but I'm sure most of them wouldn't want to.
As for fighting with lenses, that is just stupid. I mean, okay if you're desperate, short on money and you got no alternative, there's not much you can do. But man, having lenses slide around and blurring the shit out of your vision is probably much worse than just skipping them altogether
I don't see how contacts would work, so many times especially when grappling there'll be some body part or another grinding into your face/eye area.
Honestly my vision is pretty bad too, but I still train without glasses or contacts. It's not like the other guy is very far away from you, and you don't need to be able to read the tag on his shorts or anything, just notice if one of his fists is on its way to your head.

I don't even think i've ever thrown a spinning back kick in my life.
hitting someone on the jaw with one? holy shit.
edit: I don't think fighting in contacts is stupid at all. Assuming that you have disposables anyway. If I lost a contact it wasn't a big deal and when rolling I rarely lost any at all. To be truthful I mostly lost them to boxing gloves.
I really hate Fox Sports. Now that football season has started, Bellator is being pre-empted by as much as 4 fucking hours for some stupid ass football games. I have to be up for work at 5, motherfuckers. I can't just stay up until 2 in the morning to see your show. I really wish I could. I don't have DVR.
Basically, I hate Fox Sports, Bellator and football all at once for slightly different reasons. But they all relate to the fact that football is ruining my MMA watching experience.

Last night I finally found out what channel Bellator is on around here! I am excited about this. However it should not take me this long of actively trying to find a show I want to watch. Seriously. It's pretty dumb.
Incidentally, on Lavigne. Turns out that website which posted an interview claiming he talked loads of shit about Koscheck pulled it from their site and this is the same site that a few pro fighters are in the process of suing for posting fake interviews.
I hope this shit gets sorted for Yves, he's a shouldn't be reffing because he sucks; not because of some assholes after page hits.

He has the tools to be exciting, but isn't. Go home, gym tiger. Time to rethink careers.

I think it was the first time I saw him do that stupid looking around thing.
Brandon Vera will rise again!

K.O (by spinning back kick no less) is about at the 50s mark. Contact lens on camera follows shortly.
