It has seriously changed the way I think and care about a character. I found it funny when I was a little more than halfway I started wondering if it was getting a little preachy, but I immediately dismissed the thought. Lo and behold...
Was there anything in that book that wasn't remotely significant?
I can't remember the last time a comic affected me this strongly.

Man, here I was thinking that Spider-Woman was being drawn like that for a gratuitous ass shot.
It's a female comic book character in a skin tight costume, every other shot is a gratuitous ass shot even if it wasn't planned.* It sort of just happens.
*Greg Land art does not apply to this because every shot is a planned gratuitous shot since it's just traced over porn.
Immortal Iron Fist has contained nearly all of my cool moments since the series started. It's everything an awesome comic should be. I almost feel I don't even need to be reading anything else.
I just realized the look on his face is that of someone yelling what is perhaps the most awesomest/absurd statement I've read since I got back into comics. And yeah...

And yet Scarlet Witch can do it without even meaning to.
She reformed the universe to her will in the blink of an eye. You're going to have a few loose ends (or dead people) slip through when you're that stupidly powerful.
Now, she shouldn't have been able to do any of the things she has done recently, but that's a different complaint. With her established as "hurf durf it's chaos i can do anything!!" dead people aren't a problem.

The end of the argument is that it doesn't matter whether she changed the Solar System or the Universe, it's retarded either way.
If you're asking what lead to his getting shot, he and the rest of the team faced that reoccurring Serpent gang (while Invincible and his team were fighting the martians), only to find them way tougher this time. Dupli-Kate was completely killed, while Rex had his hand bit off before that moment.
As for his surviving: remember, he's been heavily genetically and surgically modified to have his powers in the first place; given the ability of the Clones to rebuilt Immortal, I'm not going to say its out of the ordinary for the Government to be able to fix Rex up.
You guys are making it so goddamned hard for me to wait for the Invicible trade. Rex is right behind Blue Beetle in my list of favorite characters that wear awesome yellow goggles.
Last page of the Dr. Thirteen backup, hands down. Nothing else this week even came close.

Picked up this week's stuff today. Between Nova #2 and Dead Days, it was pretty hard to choose a motw. But honestly, I think the best book this week was Thunderbolts 114.
Apparently, Steel Spider is a badass.
Fucking awesome.
I think the 'NGGAAAA!' is what makes this work so well.
Well. I meant saying he lived was more of meaning he's a badass. Then "What hell? HOW?!" type of way
Well, that in itself isn't unprecedented.
Spinning around and knocking the crap out of the person who shot him, however, is just too awesome.
Also, my second favorite line (after Nova's comment to Stark about Annihilus), "Yeah, but -- I save the world, too -- and I was shot in the head. Where the Hell is my parade?"

I liked that page cause it makes me think that's going to be Swordman's role in the book. Just be one of the first to constantly get his ass kicked by d level heroes.
Although it does make me wonder how Ellis is continuing things, because I mean, your first reaction is to cheer for the D Listers, but obviously they really can't win, otherwise they make the thunderbolts look like chumps, and who wants to buy a book about chumps? But then again, if the trend continues that and the d listers get beaten and manhandled, do I really want to buy a book about that?
Ellis is doing a great job of shedding some light on these forgotten D list characters and pointing out how much untapped potential they have. Hopefully it could wake some of the other writers up in the process. "Guys, you're not even trying; in the space of 3 issues I managed to make both Jack Flagg and Steel Spider look like a bad asses. It really isn't that hard people."
And Swordsman cannot be beaten badly enough to suit my tastes. Now if they would just bring in Spidey or Daredevil to beat the crap out of Bullseye...

But, yeah... It does seem like a lot of hero-hunting, which isn't cool to me. But then again, I'm pretty cool on Ellis already. But all I know is what I've seen here, so for all I know the next issue will be a treatise on evolutionary epistemology.
I just can't get enough of the Thunderbolts getting their asses handed to them by z listers. Songbird and Rad Man are cool guys, but for the rest of em, man, seeing them get beat down is so satisfying.
I think it's pretty impressive that they put out a book about a team, on the idea that you're kinda supposed to hate all the main characters, and made it work.
