Well it brings it to a standard charge for us Brits (I'm only comparing this to WoW actually, but I think SWG was similar).

All you day 1ers (and day 0ers) are gonna have to produce some reports on the retail client.

Namely major changes from beta; like how the hardware mouse is, any additional levequest changes (beyond the 36hr change), any changes to the performance of the engine itself, etc.

Hey, to you who have already got the CE and created an account, do I need a credit card to use the free month? Also, does the CE have two free months, or was it a dirty marketing trick when they said the CE gets one but never mentioned it for the standard?

Looking over the Synthesis lists on the Lodestone site, just noticing some stuff:

Seems like Cooking, Weaving and Alchemy are the most "independent" crafts (at least at lower levels), as in they don't rely on other craft's for parts. This is especially true for Cooking because the end product also isn't used in any other crafts (that i've seen in any case).

Weaving also seems to have the largest variety of crafts, but this may just be to make up for the fact that it's more independent (for example it looks like you need to make several "hempen [part]" to make a hempen whatever).

Alchemy will let you imbue certain weapons with new effects (enchanting a dagger with a Blinding Potion to make a Blinding Dagger).

Good luck! I hope they are more helpful for you then they were for me. I tried to nab it when they opened because I was in the area for my 1 week PRK follow up. The guy seemed annoyed i was there. Then I told him BB was breaking the street date and he got even more annoyed.

Also I just want to say that the EB at St-Hubert is awesome and everyone in Montreal should shop there.

The store had a literal explosion last night (there was a hole in the roof and rubble, though the clerk wasn't completely clear on what happened), but despite that they still opened and gave me my copy tonight <3
And this was after they let me preorder the CE yesterday afternoon.

So some places list the server live time as 5pm PST and others say PDT.
Some are saying 1am GMT but we're currently in BST for daylight saving.
Damn Japan for not using it and confusing me as to the actual server live time.

So two patches, one really tiny one (probably under a meg) and one at ~450MB.

Server still down for me (listed as maintenance) so I guess the 5PST timeframe was wrong.

696 score on the benchmark. Not sure if that's good or bad but there it is!
I do really need a new vid card though. Gotta find a powerful one that still fits in this average size case and only used one power connector.

Yeah I figured as much. I guess we can all cross our fingers for the full release on the 30th to have a delicious 12 GB patch to bring it up to size.

    What difference does it make?

I thought it was silly that people were predicting that since the system requirements said 21gb that is the amount of space it'd take up. I.E. people were thinking the client for beta was only a small part of the full client.

It was pretty apparent to me that they were requiring that space both for cache reasons and for future space usage.

I don't expect the retail client to perform drastically differently than the beta client; but sometimes developers put in tracking processes into beta/alpha software that eat away at performance; that are typically removed in retail.

But I'm not sure what people were thinking was going to make up the 12gb difference between beta and the supposed retail install size.

EDIT: And to your above post, no, we can't. There's not going to be a 12gb patch, what is live now is retail, it is what it is. If you're expecting 12gb of magical content you're SOL.

Gave up and registered a Japanese members account so I can play on the JP client.

I can't seem to input the bonus item code yet. It's not saying it's been used, it's just saying "that's not a registration code," so I'm guessing until I get the code for the game I can't put this one in.

Can anyone actually log in yet, or is everything still locked?

Ok, I got in right away, done my starter quest and a few leves so far.

Running appears to have been made slightly faster. Not 100% sure but it feels like it has.
It looks better than it did in Beta, I havnt altered visual settings any differently.
    Hardware mouse for the win.
Running around city is alot smoother but that may be because not many online this early.

When you choose your server it asks you if you want to use your beta character.
Starting quest chain is alot less generous with gil than it was in beta.
Gridania's escort quest, with the kids, has been sped up significantly.

I must now sleep and play again in the morning.

I had a feeling they'd nerf the gil reward from the starter quests, since it was clear that two players (or two characters if there's a mail system I haven't seen yet) could get together and just mill it for easy money.

If that's the case with the beta characters, looks like Beef Supreme is gonna be lost to the abyss. Pity.
