I thought it was terrible, however, it was worth my $7.50 to laugh for two and a half hours. It's definitely not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it's not like one was to expect some sort of arthouse film. I went in with the "popcorn flick" mentality and I was still disappointed. The closed-fisted backhand that MJ caught was definitely one of the most satisfying parts of any movie I've ever seen though.

My only fanboy complaint was the lack of a double voice. Venom has a fucking double voice. Fucking "We are Venom." Topher's voice alone just wasn't right to me.

man i loved that shit back in the day.

remember that first activision spider-man game for the ps1? that scene where venom, after kidnaping mj, swings in chasing spidey and chuckles to the camera "hah! what a dweeb" or something like that and then catches up to him and says non chalantly "hey! wanna race?"

yeah that was pretty awesome. :) as dorky as it is i almost wish they had time to put in that kind of venom into the movie. maybe with the inevitable maximum carnage movie that'll come out?
oh dear god, please don't make a maximum carnage movie. i'd honstely prefer clones

If this is the version people like Hobbes were pining for... D:

OH dear lord no. I would rather kill myself than see that in a movie.

Venom planned, Brock showed his face a few times, and he didnt have the goopy tongue, the movie did that pretty well. Lets look at the movie Venom, as Eddie Brock with the recently-gained symbiote

I don't know if that's just me but that scares me. I think there was good design choices in the movie, there just wasn't enough time for a proper Venom story.

Agreed, the movie seemed a bit busy what with "New Goblin", Sandman, and Venom, and would've been better holding off to make Venom the main villian in another movie.

yeah i wish they would have let sam rami do his thing and have it just be Sandman and the Vulture and leave Venom for another movie. This one just seemed to busy too many sub plots and no main plot. Oh well at least it was funny

I think it would have been spot on if it was just the black suit and Eddie Brock's set up in this one. Giving more room for a Venom story in another movie and leaving it for another director, someone who actually likes the character.

Raimi was apparently going to do this, spreading it over two films. He said that he couldn't write an appropriate climax for the end of the first movie this way, so he decided to trim it down into a single film, apparently.

so i really liked this movie. all these huge complaints a lot of you had are seem pretty piddly. the jazz scene and the sidewalk scene were fucking hilarious. it was a little busy but it's by no means the worst movie ever like some people made it out to be.

the butler scene was atrocious though. holy shit was that butler the bane of my night.

He also used to sing that song all the damn time when he was web-slinging along.

Um...am I missing something, or did the writers confuse the Sandman with the Mummy? I admit I haven't read Spiderman comics in a few years, but since when can the Sandman fucking fly, and turn into a giant, incoherently-roaring monster?

Sandman can do lots of things. He's just not very smart, so he usually sticks to turning his hands into big morning stars.
