I messaged a person who had a red level of response rate and an indication that she was 'picky' with who she responded with.
And she's basically not giving me any material to have a damn conversation with.
That is flat out annoying.

Have you tried doing the quickmatch thing and rating people at 4 stars?
My experience with quickmatch is that it first pairs you up with people who rated you 4 or 5 stars, then it chooses random folk for you to rate. If you rate them high, it puts you at the top of their quickmatch queue.
Doing things like drastically changing the body of your profile, altering your profile pictures, and posting on the OKCupid forums also put you at a higher spot on their match-listings and get you more visitors.
