Sweet, I finally get to see the end of a game I don't think I care to play =D
I'm honestly more looking forward to your play through of IS. I never could get through it because my ISO was glitched in both run-throughs I tried (with different ISOs even -.-).
Last time, Super John undid the bad ending, and the gang went back into Mary's soul to find Mary (and also to find Mary and also to talk to Mary about Mary.)
Mary is kind of important, in this game.
Are you alright? Is everyone OK? Ow...Damn...That hurt! Oh...Looks like this compact carried us here. Ohhh...Where are we..? Looks like everything worked out...This is the forest where we found Mae, the Little Mary... Why did you guys come back!? What happened to Guido!? Huh? What about you? What are you doing here, Nancy? I don't know...I thought I heard Mary's voice after I transported you. I just blacked out...And this is where I woke up...What about you guys? Why did you come back? OK, I'll explain...
Fade to black!
...That's impossible...What about Mary!? What is going to happen to my daughter!? If she's lucky she'll live the way she was before. But, if she's unlucky... No...Can't you do anything? She is so miserable... Nancy, calm down. That's exactly why we came back! Trust us, Nancy...We won't let it end this way. Thank you everybody.
Was that Mary? She must be here in the forest! Let's go!! Little Mary may know something! Wait! Take me with you! I'm Mary's mother! I can't just leave my little girl to suffer in pain! Okay...But I have to warn you, this forest is dangerous. I can't guarantee your safety! That's okay...I can take care of myself! So she says, John. Let's go have the mother-daughter reunion. Into the woods, it's always when you think at last we're through, and then, into the woods we go again, to take another journey. You've been waiting for that chance, haven't you? ...Maybe.
And indeed, we go back into the woods. The first leg of the trip is exactly the same as before, except we only have four party members and the monsters are all new. But we have pretty rocking Personas, so there's nothing that can pose even a slight threat to us.
Our goal, as always, is the gingerbread house.
Mary! You're Mary, right? Mom!! I'm sorry, Mary. Are you doing okay? Yes... Mary...We'd like to help the other Mary. Can you help us, Mary? Damn, this is strange... No...I can't do anything. Why not? You and the other Mary are the same, aren't you? Maggie is trying to wipe out this entire world. She went to see another me, the most evil one of all... You mean there's still another Mary? She's the worst! She's called Pandora. Maggie broke open the seal and let Pandora out. Maggie, who got sucked in by Pandora, is now trying to erase this whole world, even if the real me dies... Pandora, huh? Good job, Nate. I...That's just...You can't...Shut up! ...Where can we find Pandora? It's at school! At the other end of that door in the library! That's right. But, to enter that door you'll need three compacts and the power of the ideal me. Ideal Mary...and the three compacts that Mary talked about? Don't we have them all? Nate, quick, what's one plus one? John, you had two, one red and one green. We need one more. One more compact and the ideal Mary...Where can we find them? First, you must rescue the Ideal me...Since it's all my fault this happened...The Ideal me is crying at the deep end of this forest... So you're saying...Mary's gone off the deep end? ... Too soon? If Mary is just beyond this door...I want to go, too! We made it this far. It's okay to keep going, right? Let's go, John!
This time, we exit through the back door and enter a new section of the forest.
MAP:
Pretty tiny, right? Especially after the last dungeon we went through. Even the dead ends tend to be worth exploring, because the treasures are actually pretty decent, including an item to fuse a unique Persona, a few SP increasing items that go right to Chris, and a weapon for John. Our goal, though, is the room marked with an exclamation point.
Mary...I'm your mother!! Let's go home! Your friends were worried about you, and they came to look for you, too. No! Why did you guys come here? You all know what kind of girl I am! Mary, I know I can't just tell you to forget about it, but...I know how you feel! Everyone gets jealous! Everyone wants to better themselves...I do, too. You were just being used by Guido. He's the one who's evil, not you. No! I found my true self, and I knew what she was thinking...I think I was the one that was using Guido...Yes, that's probably it! And how many times did I try killing all of you!? Why are you so nice to me? Please, don't sympathize. I'm so miserable. I should kill myself! No! That's not true! ... John...You think so, don't you?
Seriously? You're asking me? When have I ever advocated running away from things? God, I just...you know what? I can't. I just can't anymore. Tell her off for me, Nate. Me? Really? Sure, why not. You did pretty well against Guido, surely you can tell off a mentally unstable sixteen year old girl. John is right...Everyone has their own responsibilities! If you want to die so badly, then why don't you just go ahead and kill yourself!? Just sitting there thinking and moping over self-pity is an easy way to escape! If you just talk about things then you'll never end up doing anything! ....... Don't ever say you'll kill yourself unless you mean it! We all live because we have people around us who care for us...We each have our own responsibilities! Only those that succumb to their overwhelming demands of their responsibilities speak of death! Surely, it's easier to die, but what about those who are left behind? Your choice can leave scars on those close to you for the rest of their lives! We didn't come here to sympathize with you, but to empathize with you. If you still want to die, then go ahead! Then you can forget about everything. But, we will never forget...That you were once our friend. ......... Shall we go now? Let's go help Mary on our own. I cannot give up now! Wait!! I...I'm sorry...Take me with you...Please! Haha...Of course you can come with us. We're glad to have you back! Psh... Thank you...Thank you everyone! (Sob) ...Thank you everyone...Thank you! Mom...I'm sorry...I've been terrible. I remember everything now. I always wanted you by me. I was lonely and in pain. I forgot that you were working hard for me and all I did was hate you. I'm so sorry... Forget about it...Everything is going to be OK now...I'm sorry, too...I'm sorry, Nate...I'm sorry, John...Thank you so much! ...I'm sorry, too, for being so hard on you... What? No! What? Don't apologize! Oh, man, fine. See if I ever let you give another speech. I was starting to like you more than Chris, too! Nate...Oh man, check him out! He's all red! No one has ever thanked you before, huh? It's because you're so negative all the time, Nate! You should cheer up! Sh...Shut up! Damn you...John, let's go!
Sorry for the ghetto portrait there, but I lost the file The Anonymous sent me in the transition to a new computer. Besides, as you all saw, it's pretty short-lived. Anyway, now Mary's as sane as she possibly can be while there are still twenty of her running around starting all kinds of shit, so let's go back to Mae Mary.
I'm sorry. Forget it. I should be apologizing. I'm sorry. I'm the ideal Mary! I shouldn't be crying or getting discouraged...Okay, tell me where the last compact is at. Okay...The real me has the third compact. The real Mary? The real one has...the third compact? Then...John has it, don't you!? No. Honestly, you guys, we are in high school you should be able to count to two! That is the one from the actual world...Right now, my conscience is in the Cavern behind the Shrine. My conscience has the last compact. The Cavern behind the Shrine? I'm coming, too... Mom, please wait here. Why? Why can't I go, Mary? Beyond this point I like to take care of myself. I have friends to help me. I'll be fine, Mom. Mary...Okay, but be sure to come back. Take care of my mom, all right? I have to take care of this. Okay, be careful...me. When you have collected all three compacts...I'll cite the special words in front of Pandora's door, and the door should open. Okay, let's go to the Shrine. Hey, Chris, you've been pretty quiet this whole ti--oh my god, you're smiling!
Hahaha, hey, Mary, check it out, Chris is--why are you staring at Mae so much?
Hmm...guess you're not completely sane yet. Oh well, to the Shrine!
Oh wait, you want them to be on black backgrounds?
Yeah, I meant ones like The Anonymous got for me. I don't know how to dump images like that. But it's cool, I found them through some lucky googling. If it's not all of them, it's certainly more than enough for the LP at the very least. Thanks, though.
The problem with IS (and presumably, EP) is that it uses a completely different method for storing data (from the looks of it, a non-standard filesystem; in that case you'd need special software and extensive debugging to get to the files you want). That means you can't just dump images from the CD like you can with P1 and most other PS1 games. The only way to get around it is to dump VRAM when the portrait is uploaded to it, and manually extract the images from that. The process itself isn't difficult, it's just there are a lot more portraits in P2 than in P1, and of course you'd have to play through the whole game to get every portrait you need.
tl;dr: since P2 was programmed by Satan, there's effectively only way to get all the portraits, which is far too time-consuming to be worth doing. Sorry

Don't worry. Like I said, I found 'em (for both IS and EP). :P I didn't manage to get
MAJOR P2 SPOILERS
The Shadow selves and maybe one or two others, but I can do those the old fashioned way; most of them aren't around long enough for me to care. I was mostly concerned with the main characters
Gemini, the guy behind translating and hacking IS, claims he made a custom ripper for P2 here and provided packs of what he ripped, but the links are dead. If anyone knows him or isn't shy about e-mailing, that could be a lead. The portrait rips I know about don't have a few characters, including the Big Bad.

You could try reaching him through his blog, I guess.
Last time, Little Mary told us to go to the Shrine. We've got a lot of ground to cover, this time, so let's not waste any time!
Okay, guys. To the Shrine! Wait for it... No, I'm serious let's-- But first! What? Hey, John, remember what you said at the Black Market? Uh..."I'm going to ram my gun so far up her ass I'll have to press her belly button to fire it?" No, before that. "Nate sucks"? After that. Could we maybe skip ahead to the part where you realize I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about? You said after I hit Persona level 55 you'd let me finally get rid of this level 14 Persona I've had since before I even met Guido. Oh, right. And?
Considering the fact that there isn't a single spear skill that can hit Mary as far back as she is in our formation, this Persona makes her literally immortal to anything that doesn't use Evildark magic. Her spells are pretty good, too. Destruct is a decent AoE spell, Inferno All (which is from an Inferno Stone from the casino) is maximum Fire Damage to all enemies, Elixir All is just as useful on her as any other Persona, RestorePOW cancels out any debuffs affecting your party, and Light All is the ultimate "Light" spell (Light --> Lighter --> Light All) and will take out just about all non HolyLight enemies in one or two casts. Petri Eyes is the only bad spell AllMighty has. It's kind of Ironic that her worst spell is her final one, but with the good choices she gets along the way, her last spell could be TrapCure and she'd still be great.
All right, that's taken care of. Now, to the Shrine!
Who could have guessed. You know what this means.
Well done! You've made it up to this point. In the back of the shrine is a cavern. Through this cavern is the path which leads to the pool of man's mind and soul. It is here where souls are created and emerge; and then, later, brought back for eternity after death. Right now, the real Mary is dying, and her soul is on its way back to the pool. She is calling for you and her other self to save her. You and the other Mary must go and save the real Mary's soul.
I am 100% sure I can't listen to both of you. Fortunately, I'm also 100% sure I never listen to either of you! C'mon, Mary, to the cavern!
The Cavern is a tiny place. How tiny? So tiny that most of the MAPS are Old School:
Our ultimate goal is actually one floor lower, but the event room on floor 8 is holding something special, too.
Well now who is that handsome bastard? Who's there? John, somebody's there! No way!?...John?! John, there are two of you? I don't know why you, of all people, are freaking out over seeing two of the same person. What are you doing here? Playing a video game!?
You...Are you really John? Yes it is I. I am John. I'm a student at St. Hermelin. If you don't believe me, I can tell you my height, size, and types of food I like. So can Ellen. That doesn't mean she's me. God, she's so creepy. Haha, I know, right? What? I am you. I know everything about you. What you've done, what kind of person you are...I know it all.
Hey, it's Yuki! Hi, Yuki! John! She's still alive! Here, give me a hand! John! She's not going to live! Come or you'll be dead, too! Hey, John! The monsters are just around the corner! You helped this poor nurse, without giving it a second thought. You risked your life... Actually, I mostly did it because Nate's an asshole.
I've had enough!! No more deaths! Nobody wants to die, right? We can capture Guido later! Let's help the doctor! You chose to save Dr. Nicholas rather than kill Guido... Good thing, too, or else we wouldn't be Super John right now!
John...I'll give you one chance to live. Which do you think is better? My beautiful painting or Mary's painting...Answer me honestly! You stuck to your own beliefs even though your life was on the line...It is something one can't do with ease... Actually, just between the two of me, I really did kind of like Selina's painting, but I wasn't about to agree with her on anything. Also I really wanted to kill her.
But it sounds like Mary's mom...Doesn't it!? I don't know why she looks like that...But what if it really is her mom!? John, don't fight it! You have the ability to discern the truth from what's false...You judge not only with you eyes, but with your heart, as well...Very well done. Actually, I was just really tired and didn't feel like fighting anything. I told the rest of them they could kick its ass if they wanted.
Young man...I have not heard your answer. Why must you live? This man's soul was sick and lost...But you've given a peace to this man's soul, because your own soul was with you. Mostly I called him stupid and then shot him in the face a lot. ... Come on, speed it up Ghost of Christmas Past. What's next?
John...You think so, don't you? You think I'm terrible! You chose the right thing to do. It's easy to run away from problems, but sooner or later they'll catch up to you...What do you do then..? Hey, you finally got one!
We are one. But not just me. In your heart lives tens of thousands of you. Some of you are inside waiting for the chance to emerge and become you, but that's not always possible. Your true self matches your body like a glove. It's proof that you're very well established. Here, take this. You and your friends can use this to its fullest potential. It's the key to unlock the strongest Persona sealed in your heart. Go show it to Igor and he'll know what to do. Remember, this me is the same as you. If you carve that into your heart, nobody can defeat you. You're also strong already.
These are the items that will let us make the "ultimate" Personas. Don't let that name fool you, though. As you'll see, these Personas aren't generally very ultimate at all.
You must be the gay me, huh? ... Ah well, whatever. As long as you stay in this cave that's cool, I guess. Come on, Mary let's go find You number thirty-seven. See ya, Gay Me! Bye, other John! ... ... Oh my God. I'm a douche.
Next time, we finish the Cavern, make the Ultimate Personas, finally get to fight a little girl, and go into the final dungeon!

I really think that avatar fits him better than 'boy with the pierced ear'.
Nate's Ultimate persona isn't bad for where it is at. And if we had chosen Brad you could keep making him suicide for easy wins. The rest... eh.
Can you edit that first bit? I kind of want all the P2 stuff under spoilers since a lot of people haven't played it.
As for the Ultimates,
Nate's plays a big role in my "cheese Pandora" video, thanks to having Magic Wall and enough Agility to go before her. He sticks to gunning in a real fight, though. Light All is the only valid attack it gets.
Ra has Boss Damage, though, which is great for Pandora and any lucky Alice encounters.
Guido found peace, but Nyarlathotep didn't give a shit and resurrected him anyway. Nyar's kind of a dick like that. You'll notice that Guido is a lot less enthusiastic about his job in EP and is pretty much fighting out of obligation.
There's not much else for him to do anyway, his company thinks he's dead and he still has Nyarlathotep in his head. It's a choice between doing what Nyar wants now or being manipulated/driven mad until he's too crazy to say no. About the only thing Guido could do was do his job and hope the heroes got around to killing him again.
Woo! Gemini came through for me and sent me the portraits for both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, so I can finally stop dragging my feet on the last couple updates for this, and finish it up. Expect that this weekend.
Anyway, when we last left John, he had just realized what a terrible person he is. Well. Sort of. Now he and Mary are off to find Mary. It feels like this is how I've started every update. Let's see how that's going.
If you remember, our primary objective was one floor below where we were last time:
As you can see, this level is very complicated and you need to keep careful track of your progress. But for real, behind the door we're standing in front of there is the Well of Souls or whatever Philemon was on about last time.
The camera focuses on one soul in particular...
I found it! I found my true self! .....
It's hard to believe, but Mary runs away.
Wait a minute! Where do you plan to run to? There's no more places to run! Those countless bubbles, they represent people's consciousness. People's consciousness are just bubbles from the sea. I was not supposed to be born. If you were born first, my life would be different... Stop it!! I don't want to hear anymore words come from you!! That is the greatest thing any of you ever said. Did you try to change things? What things have you done? Or, did you just cry in bed!? I want to trade places with you, Mark, Nate, Chris, and John! In watching all of you, wouldn't you? It makes you think that there's nothing you can't do! What destroys everything is your own feelings in your heart! ...... I'm not going to run away anymore...I'm in charge of my life! I'll fix my own mistakes! .....Take this with you. This will let you enter the Avidea World where Pandora is. I didn't want John to see me like this... Trust me, I don't want to see you naked and floating inside a giant bubble like some emo Glinda, either.
The Real Mary leaves us her compact and disappears.
Did I say it right? I have to start believing in myself now...Let's get back to meet the others!
Thanks for waiting! Damn, you guys took so long that the clothes I'm wearing went out of style. What are you talking about? You're wearing a uniform. Looks like everything went well. Let's go back to school to meet Pandora. That's a great idea, Nate. Let's get back to school right away! ... Oh, come on! It's no fun if you guys don't say it. (sigh) Wait for it. BUT FIRST!
Welcome to the Vel-- Hey, Iggy! Here's some random crap you can find just about anywhere, whip us up some ultimate Personas. Unfortunately, your level is too low to control these Personas. What? Bullshit. We're all at least level 50! How much higher do we need to be? The lowest is level 58. Yours is level 62. You've still got a lot of growing to do before you can realize your full potential. Fine. All right, guys, you heard the creepy nose dude. Let's go kill things until we stop sucking. Where are we going to go? Don't worry. I know just the place.
Welcome to the ruins. This eight floor dungeon contains every demon in the game. Naturally, the strength of the demons increases the deeper we go, with the most powerful, and therefore most rewarding, waiting on the eighth floor. Most of these are either Evildark or Holylight so those two classes of magic are absolutely essential. Fortunately, we've got it covered.
I'm not including maps because it's not a "real" dungeon. Just know that it's pretty twisty and entirely annyoing until floor six or seven, when the enemies start giving decent experience.
Everything about this place is largely unimportant unless you're attempting to grind. There is one thing of note down here, though...
Oh my god. Yes. Absolutely yes. I have been waiting for the chance to shoot a little girl in the face since this whole thing started. John, that's awful! You can't just do that. I'm going to try talking to her...Hello! It's okay, we aren't going to hurt you!
All right. We tried it the hippie way, now it's my turn. NOBODY MOVE. She is mine.
It was as beautiful as I expected it to be.
Alice is a pain to kill, because she is highly resistant to everything (except one spell we'll see later), and will run away occasionally. It's a good idea to try and paralyze her if you have that ability. However, if you manage it, you're obviously greatly rewarded for your efforts. The only trouble is, she is remarkably rare. I lucked into this encounter here, and in the course of getting three characters to level 99, I only ran into her twice.
Once we finish in the ruins, we head back to the Velvet Room to make the Ultimate Personas. And then we'll make some that don't suck, too!
He's...okay. Heavy on Fire, as you can see. Bind is useless. Lighten, despite the name, is actually an Electric skill not a HolyLight one. Boss Damage is a great attack that you will see in action against Pandora. The 98 in strength is nice enough, as it means John now has three maxed out stats in Strength, Agility, and Technique, with Luck nearly maxed as well. One of the better Ultimates.
Mary:
AKA: Verðandi. It's worth noting that they actually probably tried to not butcher this one, but something was almost certainly lost in the jump from Old Norse to Japanese to English
STR: 44
VIT: 50
TEC: 65
AGL: 34
LUK: 39
OMP: 237
DMP: 207
Strong against Magic
Valzante is another one that's just...okay. Her higher OMP makes CureAll heal a good amount, Blue Fire and Holy White are both decent-to-good depending on the enemies, and Elixir All is Elixir All. My personal opinion is that single target healing spells are useless in this game, since spell costs are calculated on a Persona basis and not a spell basis, so there's no reason to not heal everyone if you need to heal anyone. Also, there is no reason for her not to have Revive More instead of just Revive. Still, she's not awful, and that's about as much as we can ask for from an Ultimate Persona.
You remember all those Ray spells I told you about, that were dangerous and likely to wipe us out? No, you don't, because they don't exist. Remember how I told you a weakness to spirit is awful? And then remember how I told you the most powerful enemies in the game were all either HolyLight or EvilDark? That should be all I really need to tell you about Demo, but let's look at his spell list, too. Every single one of them is either awful or not as good as it should be. Eternity, Gale Wind, and Sonic all have more powerful versions that should be there instead, and Bone Crush and Kill Punch are all physical attacks and if I wanted Mark to use a Physical Attack he'd use his axe or gun. The worst thing about Demo, though, is the fact that his OMP is high enough to make the weak spells look almost viable, so you don't realize how much he sucks until it's too late.
Chris:
AKA: Mot
STR: 30
VIT: 25
TEC: 56
AGL: 76
LUK: 91
OMP: 188
DMP: 148
No Effect against Spirit
Ummm...it's immune to Spirit? That is literally the only thing this Persona has going for it. It is terrible. It makes Demo look like a god. Curse All would be decent if it had a better OMP, but it doesn't so it's not. The only things worth using Magic Seal on reflect it, same with Petri Eyes. If you haven't worked out that Kill Punch is worthless by now then I don't know what to tell you. Wolf is interesting enough, at least. It adds the Beast status to a character, which makes them stronger or weaker depending on the moon's phase. The fuller the moon, the stronger the character. But it's really, really, really not worth it.
So, let's get Mark and Chris Personas that don't suck, okay? Their new Ultimates are as follows:
It isn't unreasonable to call Jester the EvilDark Allmighty. I added a Glacier Stone to further that comparison. He has Glacier All while Allmighty has Inferno All. Curse All is the EvilDark Light All, and his OMP is high enough to make use of it. The rest of his spells aren't too useful. Lunar Trap simply keeps enemies from running away. Invisible is kind of fun, though. It turns a character invisible, which makes him or her immune to, physical attacks while increasing their vulnerability to magic. Of course, if the character reflects magic like Jester or Allmighty... He also gives Mark a much needed Agility boost.
Chris:
AKA: Suzaku
STR: 45
VIT: 35
TEC: 44
AGL: 99
LUK: 66
OMP: 222
DMP: 187
No Effect against Wind
Weak against Gun
It only does one thing, but man does it do it well. Wing Flap is also a surprisingly decent physical skill. Though still not as good as simply using a gun or weapon. 99 Agility can't be argued with, either.
YES. Frankly, aside from Light All and Magic Wall (which you'll see in action shortly), his spell selection is pretty terrible. All he's missing is Lunar Trap and Trap Cure. Elixir is nice enough, but see above re: single target heals. But, seriously, Silver Surfer Samurai Butler. There is no way we are not using this forever. The high Agility and Luck are nice, too.
Did Nate just get cool? You guys, I think Nate just got cool.
It's also worth noting that both Chris and Nate have Ultimate Personas of an Arcana different than their initial Personas. This is to represent their growth as people. Of course, Chris changed from Devil (turmoil, temptation, sin, etc) to Death (change, aimlessness, etc) so it's maybe not such a good move. But Nate went from Hierophant (stubborn, traditional, etc) to Judgement (forgiveness of past sin, transformation, renewal, etc) so it's meant to symbolize his finally becoming the man Alfred wanted him to be.
Alright, that's enough making Nate feel special. To the school!
Next time.
Only one or two updates left, guys. Next is the last dungeon and final boss, and then a special showcase of the REAL ultimate Personas. By which I mean the "oh my god why would you ever grind this much" Personas.
Where did the Alfred art come from? It looks pretty different to what's in the game.
Also, excellent update as usual. Can't wait for P2.
The only real difference is the size of the surfboard thing. He has the spear when you use his physical attacks, and the other minor things (wings, coloration, etc) I am just chalking up to graphical limitations.
Also, Persona 2 spoilers, Eternal Punishment specifically (don't read if you haven't played! Persona 2 is good enough to go into blind)
It was like, eight hours ago, so you all better remember what happened last time. :P Now, to the school!
Everyone at school is a product of my imagination. It's complicated, isn't it? It's not that complicated. You're insane. ... I mean, uh...to the library!
In the library are two people the game really thinks we care about more than we do.
Selina and Bruce! You're both alive! Mary! You're OK, too! And so are the rest of you! I'm so glad you're all OK! I'm sorry, and you are...? John, it's Selina! You remember, from the Black Market? ...Didn't I kill you? Nope. Huh. Someone remind me to do that when I'm done kicking Pandora's ass. Hey, Bruce, what happened to the school? Where is everyone? I don't know...When we came back, nobody was here. The east side of town is completely gone, too. I wonder why... Must be Pandora. Pandora? Oh, just some all powerful evil force bent on destruction that Nate created using the power of suggestion. ... I'm sorry...Everything that happened is all my fault. Let me explain...
Fade to black!
I promise that I'll return everything back to normal. Apologizing won't change things, but I am sorry...Selina, you can take it out on me if you want to. You're so stupid! You've always been so stubborn! Hey, Selina... I'm the one who owes an apology...You called me over here because you thought we were friends, right? And I betrayed you...I'm the one who should ask for your forgiveness... Thank you... Now, go. I'll wait here, so I won't be in the way. When everything is resolved and back to normal again, let's all go to Dreamland! Sure! Dreamland! It's like being a kid again! Let's go for it! Ahaha. Right. I'm totally going to hang out with you guys once this is over. Absolutely. Mary, please open the door! Here I go!
Mary places the three compacts on the floor.
Abra Kadabra!
Apparently the fact that this works is completely shocking to everyone.
Let's go!
Welcome to the final dungeon. Please don't hate me for not having a YouTube link to the music, but I couldn't find it for the life of me.
Anyway, MAPS:
Obviously, it's huge. But, there's only one part that can send you on a long road that results in a dead end. Every other door except door 6 will take you forward.
I'd also like to take this time to point out that the trees and healing springs all have unique dialog. Usually, this is pretty boring, or a poor attempt at a pop culture reference (one tree, upon leaving, says Ya'll come back now, y'hear?). But, the healing spring in the final dungeon is a thing of beauty. If you call up Kelly and then tell her you don't want to be healed, well...
Eventually, we find ourselves outside the final boss' door.
This is it... Yeah. One way or another, it all ends now... Hey, guys...I know I've said a lot of stuff, especially to you, Nate, but...I just wanted you all to know...I have truly hated every second I was forced to spend with you losers. We know, John. We know. Okay, good. Now, to Pandora!
For some reason the video is a little bit laggy at the start. I'm not really sure what happened there, but this was my fourth attempt at recording this fight, so I wasn't about to do it a fifth. It gets better toward the middle anyway, so it's okay. I also made sure to show off some of the spell descriptions, because I don't know that I had done that yet.
Anyway, Pandora's first form is just as mindless as all the other bosses in this game. Her second form, though, can be won in one of two ways. The first way makes the fight take forever, but also makes it 100% impossible to lose:
Like I sad, it takes forever. If you watch the first two rounds, you're good. Pandora has two "phases" for this fight. Red Hair and Blue Hair. Like you saw in the video, her Red Hair form is weak to physical attacks, and her Blue Hair form is weak to magic attacks (except Ice). All of her major threats are magic attacks, so using Magic Wall with a character fast enough to go before her takes away all of the challenge.
But that's boring. Let's fight her normally, and see how bad B-Storm really is:
A few things to note here--1: I got really lucky, and she only used B-Storm once. 2: If it looked like B-Storm didn't do that much damage, keep in mind that I am about ten levels and ~150 HP higher than I should be due to grinding for the Ultimates. 3: This would have taken a lot longer if she had changed her form. I can't do nearly as much damage when she's weak to magic, due to not having anything with Magic Up.
Naturally, Super John delt the finishing blow.
...You should know why! Because we're not alone... Haha...Because we believe in ourselves! No one can live alone! When things get tough, just turn around...I'm right behind you. Well, that's a terrifying thought. You and I are parts of the same Mary...A friend of everyone here. Enough is enough...Let's be one again.
Pandora disappears, and Mary...reabsorbs her or whatever is going on there, it's not really clear.
It's over... Yeah... Thank you everyone...This is good-bye, but I'll never forget any of you! What do you mean...Good...bye..? Dude. Seriously. Did you pay attention to anything that's happened the last few days? I am just a shadow of Mary. I can't go with you. But, it was really fun... Mary! This can't be happening! Damn!!
So...I don't wanna tell you how to run your soul or anything, but you seem to have forgotten someone. Namely, me. I've sent everyone back to the real world... No, I...I'm pretty sure you haven't. John...Before I send you back, may I have a word with you? Uh...I don't really have much of a choice, so I gue--
That is not a word! That is an activity! Thank you...Remember me from time to time, okay? Good-bye...I've always loved you...
Good-bye everyone! Good-bye...John! Oh god, I need an adult...
That's not funny, Universe. There is nothing more for me to say. You have found your way back to the world as it should be. The smile on your face is no longer a mask, but your true self. No longer do you have to fear when you encounter problems or pains. Just ask yourself who you are. You now will be able to withstand any adversaries and conflicts that may arise in your life. Go now, into a bright and promising future. This is not a smile. It is a grimace. Anyway, what are you gonna do? Oh, I thought I'd take my mask off then turn into some butterflies. ...what.
...Well okay then!
Oh? After hearing you whine so much, I'm surprised you even came. Hahaha... What's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well? Mark, I heard that you're afraid of heights.... W...Wassup!? Brad's been spreading it all over town...I'm looking forward to seeing you cry like a woman! Haha! Damn, this will be good! I want to see Mark cry like a woman! Damn Brad! Him and his stupid mouth! What're you all laughing at? That's it! I'm not going anymore!
Hey guys! Did you wait? No, they already left. What happened? Why is everyone laughing? Mary, John, you came at the right time! Although I am kind of surprised to see you here, John. Mary broke down my door and forced me to come. Why does she still have a Persona, by the way? Wasn't that just Fake Mary's thing? Anyway, what's up? It seems like Mark doesn't want to come with us.... Too bad. What!? Why? I was looking forward to this, too. Shut the heck up, Nate! Hahaha... Is it true, Mark? Well...Um...No, I'm going, I'm going. Cool! Selina and everyone else is waiting outside... Let's go! Both of y'all better remember this!! Psh...Anyway, doesn't Mary seem like a different person? Hmmm...Pandora..... What's up? You're still thinking about that? I just remember the last thing that Pandora left behind...Anyway, we should get going now John! Wait up! What was it? Remember...Selina...oh my god! I forgot to kill Selina again Hurry up, John! Coming! I volunteer to sit next to Selina on the way up!

Reiji had a son? With who? O_o
(Note: Maki's boyfriend probably isn't John.)
You made Avidya World and Pandora look way too easy.
The painful memories of fighting that witch when I finally beat Revelations. Yeesh.
Wait for it: a woman that reminds him of his mother.
You made Avidya World and Pandora look way too easy.
No, it just is easy. :P Nah, like I said, if you cheese it it's impossible to lose, and I got pretty lucky in the one I didn't cheese. It can be a rough fight, depending on what she decides to do.

No Effect against Tackle
Weak against whip
Yes, they both are as shitty as they look (though at level 32, Anuvis is slightly viable at least, especially with the Light All added from an item); no, I didn't add them by mistake. Do you remember way back in the Black Market when I explained how you can delete Rank 8 Persons for special items?
Fate Pin and Dark Ash, two incredibly important items. These aren't weapons or equipment of any sort, though. These are special items to fuse unique Personas.
In a way it is fitting that this Persona is both everything Wals wants to be and isn't, and everything Valzante should have been. You see, Urðr/Wals, Verðandi/Valzante, and Skuld/Scrag are the three Norn in Norse mythology that determine a person's fate. Wals being the weakest, Valzante second, with Scrag the most powerful. And boy is she powerful. Rank 1 Elixir All is enough to make her a great Persona. Holyest will wipe out any EvilDark enemy on the field, Eternity should be Judgement but her OMP is high enough that it will take out any HolyLight enemy in the area regardless, Revive More is Revive More, and you've already seen how great Boss Damage is. I have no idea why she has Elixir, though. It is literally entirely pointless. But with everything else she has going for her, it doesn't matter.
This is the first Chris-only special Persona worth using, and it is amazing. Sure it only has four spells, but look at them. Holy Word and Judgement are the strongest HolyLight and EvilDark spells, respectively. Nuke Most is Nuke More only better, and Revive More is still Revive More. The stats are great, too. That 89 in Agility is more than enough to let him go before any enemy in the game, and the spells are enough to kill absolutely anything you find. Definitely one of the best Personas in the game. He also has the distinct honor of being the only Judgement Persona Chris can use.
I still think the weakness to Spirit is only so she doesn't outshine the higher level Personas. Ishtal is amazing. Bolt All, Gale All, and Blast Most are decent enough, and Revive is always nice, but the real fun is Ice Arrow. Ice Arrow is an attack Skill that is actually worth using. It is ridiculously strong, and hits four or five times. I actually recommend using this attack. A physical attack skill. I am recommending it. Think about how strong it must be.
That's not all Ishtal does for us, either:
The David Star. If you make the Persona this unlocks, you are officially insane. So let's do it!
...yeah. Yeah. The only thing keeping this from being 100% ridiculous is the fact that Lucifer is literally entirely useless against EvilDark Demons, as they tend to reflect all magic except HolyLight, which he has none of. Everything else will fall to pieces. By themselves his spells are only okay, except for Judgement. But with 999 OMP, he could be tossing out Blaze and Chill for massive damage. But, I can hear you already. "He looks so bland!" "Why is Lucifer so boring!" "Blackjack, change it so he doesn't look so boring!"
Well. Okay.
Is that better? Lucifer is, as far as I know, the only Persona with two unique sprites. Normally he looks the way he does in his status screen. But, if you use his Judgement spell, he sprouts giant white wings.
But, he's not the best Persona in the game, believe it or not. His inability to do anything to EvilDark enemies is a real hinderance in normal battles. You see those things in that screen shot? That Judgement spell was reflected back at Chris for over 8000 damage. Fortunately, Mary killed them for me, and they dropped a Silver Dish. We can use that to make the real best Persona:
You know most of his spells by now, but Bi Strike is a new one. Only one other Persona has this spell in the game, and it is Brad's ultimate Persona, so you've never seen it. BiStrike kills the user and does roughly twice his max HP to every enemy on the field. Normally, skills like this are useless, but consider this: Most normal enemies have less than 1100 HP, and by the time you are on Persona level 94, your character is going to have well over 500 HP. This means Bi Strike will entirely eliminate every single non-boss enemy you encounter. And for the bosses (and Alice), he has Boss Damage, too.
There we go. The best, or at least most of the best, Personas.
If I were to assault Pandora at these levels, John would have Ra, Mary would have Scrag, Nate would have Ishtal, Mark would have Abracab, and Chris would have Satan and Lucifer (Satan for the dungeon, Lucifer for the boss). It would be an Ice Arrow and Boss Damage fest, but it would be immensely satisfying.
I just read through the entire thing over the past couple days (because I have that kind of time) and I really liked it. I was considering buying Persona 3 Portable, and I think this has cemented that purchase.
Though, one thing that really only affects people like me who didn't start reading from the start. It'd be nice if in the future you numbered your updates in the updates themselves. It's not a big thing, I just started at the wrong update a couple times because they weren't labeled.

If you end up not liking it, it's not my fault!

That is fair. I'll keep it in mind for the future.
It's only harder if you do it backwards, and that's just artificial difficulty, really. Otherwise it's about the same, if not even easier due to having a much better party.

I'd gladly offer it as a post-LP if I could capture the images from my PSP, as I'll be taking it on at some point soon.
Posts
I'm honestly more looking forward to your play through of IS. I never could get through it because my ISO was glitched in both run-throughs I tried (with different ISOs even -.-).
Next time.

"Nate sucks"?
After that.
Could we maybe skip ahead to the part where you realize I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about?
You said after I hit Persona level 55 you'd let me finally get rid of this level 14 Persona I've had since before I even met Guido.

Reflect Magic
Weak against Spear
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Nate's Ultimate persona isn't bad for where it is at. And if we had chosen Brad you could keep making him suicide for easy wins. The rest... eh.
As for the Ultimates,
Ra has Boss Damage, though, which is great for Pandora and any lucky Alice encounters.

There's not much else for him to do anyway, his company thinks he's dead and he still has Nyarlathotep in his head. About the only thing Guido could do was do his job and hope the heroes got around to killing him again.

BUT FIRST!
Welcome to the Vel--
Hey, Iggy!
John:
AKA: Amun-Ra
STR: 98
VIT: 31
TEC: 51
AGL: 53
LUK: 36
OMP: 207
DMP: 162
Absorb Blast
Weak against Physical
Mark:
AKA: Susanoo
STR: 79
VIT: 53
TEC: 68
AGL: 40
LUK: 45
OMP: 244
DMP: 184
Reflect Ray
Weak against Spirit
Mark
AKA: Barbatos
STR: 32
VIT: 38
TEC: 42
AGL: 68
LUK: 68
OMP: 222
DMP: 179
Reflect Magic
Weak against Spear
Nate:
...
...
STR: 59
VIT: 38
TEC: 32
AGL: 70
LUK: 89
OMP: 249
DMP: 199
Reflect Magic
Weak against Spear
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Also, excellent update as usual. Can't wait for P2.
Also, Persona 2 spoilers, Eternal Punishment specifically (don't read if you haven't played! Persona 2 is good enough to go into blind)
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Pandora Form 1
For some reason the video is a little bit laggy at the start. I'm not really sure what happened there, but this was my fourth attempt at recording this fight, so I wasn't about to do it a fifth. It gets better toward the middle anyway, so it's okay. I also made sure to show off some of the spell descriptions, because I don't know that I had done that yet.
Anyway, Pandora's first form is just as mindless as all the other bosses in this game. Her second form, though, can be won in one of two ways. The first way makes the fight take forever, but also makes it 100% impossible to lose:
Pandora Form 2 -- Cheap
Like I sad, it takes forever. If you watch the first two rounds, you're good. Pandora has two "phases" for this fight. Red Hair and Blue Hair. Like you saw in the video, her Red Hair form is weak to physical attacks, and her Blue Hair form is weak to magic attacks (except Ice). All of her major threats are magic attacks, so using Magic Wall with a character fast enough to go before her takes away all of the challenge.
But that's boring. Let's fight her normally, and see how bad B-Storm really is:
Pandora Form 2 -- Not Cheap
I forgot to kill Selina again
Hurry up, John!
Coming! I volunteer to sit next to Selina on the way up!

(Note: Maki's boyfriend probably isn't John.)
You made Avidya World and Pandora look way too easy.
The painful memories of fighting that witch when I finally beat Revelations. Yeesh.
PSP wasn't much easier.
Humble contribution, PSP ending music:

I kind of like it.
Oh, and Pandora's music
is AWESOME.
Wait for it: a woman that reminds him of his mother.
No, it just is easy. :P Nah, like I said, if you cheese it it's impossible to lose, and I got pretty lucky in the one I didn't cheese. It can be a rough fight, depending on what she decides to do.

Let's start with the Fate Pin:
AKA: Skuld
STR: 58
VIT: 58

LUK: 40

Reflect Attack
Now, the Dark Ash:
AKA: Satan
STR: 36
VIT: 37
TEC: 45
AGL: 89
LUK: 70
OMP: 280
DMP: 217
Reflect Magic
Weak against Spear
This is the first Chris-only special Persona worth using, and it is amazing. Sure it only has four spells, but look at them. Holy Word and Judgement are the strongest HolyLight and EvilDark spells, respectively. Nuke Most is Nuke More only better, and Revive More is still Revive More. The stats are great, too. That 89 in Agility is more than enough to let him go before any enemy in the game, and the spells are enough to kill absolutely anything you find. Definitely one of the best Personas in the game. He also has the distinct honor of being the only Judgement Persona Chris can use.
AKA: Ishtar
STR: 54
VIT: 53
TEC: 48
AGL: 35
LUK: 69
OMP: 235
DMP: 205
Reflect Blast
Weak against Spirit
AKA: Lucifer
STR: 99
VIT: 99
TEC: 99
AGL: 99
LUK: 99
OMP: 999
DMP: 999
Strong against Everything
...yeah.
AKA: Vohu Manah
STR: 61
VIT: 43
TEC: 51
AGL: 99
LUK: 61
OMP: 269
DMP: 282
Reflect Magic
Weak against Spear
Next time:
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Though, one thing that really only affects people like me who didn't start reading from the start. It'd be nice if in the future you numbered your updates in the updates themselves. It's not a big thing, I just started at the wrong update a couple times because they weren't labeled.
That is fair. I'll keep it in mind for the future.
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
That said, it is still the same game. First person dungeons (though, hey, you have at least basic maps now!), frequent random battles, etc.
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Note, "somewhat" harder still means piss easy
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
The only time I got one the damn memory card died on me, as if to spite me. MAG Up was so awesome early in the game.
I'll probably show off at least one in Innocent Sin, though. And, of course, the three special ones in Eternal Punishment.
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
Also, Snow Queen Quest, which is much harder.
And hey, Persona PSP has... uh, four good songs, which I think I've already shared.
None of them being the random battle music.
