As a Marine Biologist, I thrive at the waterfront. Being 0.0 miles from the event is pretty badass too. Any bets on how fast the westin is sold out? I give it a weekish.

Woo indeed. I stayed outside Boston last year since I had a friend living in Lowell that was gonna be driving in every day anyhow. Sucked to have to drive out at 2am every night, haha.

I just popped this link into the OP, it shows the full blocking for all the hotels. Westin Waterfront is already very low on 2-bedroom rooms for the night of 3/13.

    edit: correction, it's gone

Just booked my room at the Westin Waterfront as well, for myself and my man. I'm so excited. Last year we didn't even stay in Boston, so this year I went the other extreme.

I'm so excited! *does a happy dance*.

Right, nevermind then. I'll be in the Seaport if anyone needs me.

Actually from the website the rooms in the Seaport look a little nicer than the Westin, but I want the convenience of being attached, and I don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's also more a holiday for me (I'm doing a 5,000 mile journey each way!), which possibly tips things for me a bit.

Given 2 bedded rooms in the Seaport appear to have gone now, for the Wednesday night, I was probably not alone in this opinion...

Yeah, last year I stayed at the Holiday Inn Brookline, which was at least a couple miles away from Hynes, and it worked out okay. You should be good!

Also, it should probably be noted that Westin does not offer free wireless internet :(

Waterfront and Seaport ran out of 2 bed rooms for Sunday already. If you think you got 2 beds for Sunday, double check your confirmation.

Anybody know the best way to confirm your reservation?

Last year I had to jump through a bunch of hoops calling the hotel (Holiday Inn Brookline). The first time they told me that my reservation was only from Saturday to Sunday (wtf?), so they changed it. Then the second time I called they told me my reservation was cancelled - but apparently it was because I was "double booked" somehow. I still had my reservation, but the process of confirming it added a lot of needless stress :p

In the end I have always received what is on my email confirmation. I think checking in on Thursday helps because the hotel isn't physically full at that point. Your mileage may vary.

They aren't going to have that information until probably a week or two before the actual date.

    Yeah, it works like this:
    Nowish:
    - Hotel reserves block of rooms for OnPeak
    - OnPeak sells the rooms to you, the consumer
    Februaryish:
    - OnPeak takes all the deposits (check/CC)
    Early March:
    - OnPeak sends all the reservation data and moneys to the hotels
    Mid-March:
    - We all show up and awesomeness ensues

You could but now you can't because the blocks for that day are all sold out. As it stands, there are only 30 2-bed rooms left for the Westin Waterfront for the Thursday before PAX.

They went live earlier today. You don't need cash on hand to book, right now they just take your card number to hold the room. Deposits aren't pulled until much much closer to pax.

It's kind of like watching that scene from Aliens with the auto-turrets. They're tearing up aliens left and right, but you know that soon enough, despite their power, they'll be out of ammo, and truly boned. There are a lot of 1 beds left though, which isn't too bad (presuming people don't mind sleepingbags/cramming into one bed).

I saw Khoos twitter about the hotels about 25 minutes after it was made. (Since I was in class.) I immediately went to book and were already out of 2 bed rooms for sunday/monday. Holy crap guys give me a chance!

But my friend and I are still going with a single bed room, just gonna have to rent a cot or something.
