If 10, 25 or even 40 of us gang up, coordinate, and attack the moderators, do we win anything special, like loot and titles, tabards and legendary weapons? Cuz that'd be awesome!
So this ability queuing shit is even worse than trying to hunter PvP atm. This is a pretty god damn shitty way to deal with people being "GCD locked," or whatever that issue was with min-maxers that they were trying to fix. : |

The ability queue is supposed to be set to whatever your latency is.
EDIT: And I think you can turn it off.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I could've sworn that the ability to turn off ability queuing wasn't being put into the game until either 4.0.3 or Cataclysm proper. And if its already in the game, I don't see where or how to adjust it.
I can't login to check the game settings atm, but I understand that there was, or will soon be, a slider added in the beta that can effectively turn it off.
And I was only partly right about its original intent -- it's to keep people from artificially lowering their GCD client-side.

But you're talking about people who bitch that they have to PVP for the holiday metas, or that there is too much RNG. Oh they will bitch. For a laugh, I went to check out the Achievement forum the other day. Hallow's End is like the kind of RNG bitching holidays, and the forum did not disappoint! Honestly I don't even understand it. I've gotten like 15 Squashlings already, I've been doing nothing but vendoring this shit all holiday. How are people *still* having trouble completing Sinister Calling?
Hey, it was definitely very legitimate to bitch about it when the meta still required "A Mask for All Occasions".
That's the one exception I'll make on the bitching since that one was/is flat out broken. (I am one freaking mask away after 3 years of doing this.. where are the damn tauren female masks?!)
I am inclined to also accept the old version of the Love Fool candy achievement since that was like 3 RNGs on top of each other, with the loot things broken for like the first three days of the holiday or something (I still got all the candies myself :P). People still bitched about the "fixed" version though. My favorite was the "well I stopped trying because it was hopeless! You suck Blizzard!" I think they also added the Black Dress back onto the meta which was hilarious since I think I got like 10 of those or something, but people bitched about that too. I'm still 100% convinced they accidentally swapped the drop rates of the dress and the candy bags, and that's why they were so damn rare.
And as a related side note, I've never been super happy about the overall meta awarding a 310% mount because it just turns people into whiny brats over the holiday events. My personal philosophy is you should do the holidays because you enjoy doing them. I was doing them long before there were achievements in the game because I actually liked the events. But now everyone feels entitled and complains. It's just a shame. At least now that we've gone like two full years some of that has died down as people actually got their fruity proto-drakes :P Plus I'm sure people being able to buy the skill in Cata will help *loads* with that
It literally never ceases to amaze me how absolutely enthralled people are by achievements. You're spending hours of your life toiling away for an achievement that (in most cases) awards you absolutely nothing, in the context of a game where you spend hours a week raiding for intangible pixels with slightly better stats attached to them.
Now of course, to each his own etc etc... but stressing over achievements just strikes me as being beyond the pale.

It's less about being enthralled for me than it is a compulsion to fill in checkboxes :P I hate empty checkboxes with the burning passion of a thousand suns. Also I enjoy the challenge
That being said, I don't need things handed to me like some people. I will only complain about stuff I consider legitamently unfair/broken (*cough*WSG rep*cough*)
That was a comment on the vacuousness of the achievement system overall, not just people stressing about it. Should've been more clear.

I can't stand to see those boxes greyed out. Not when they could be shiny and full of color. I get OCD over achievements. Of course then I log in and see some druid with 11330 achievement points (I shit you not) and it messes with my mind so much.
On one hand, I'm OCD about achievements and I feel incomplete if I don't have them all. I mean, I don't care if I don't have them all, as long as it's still an attainable goal that I'm working towards because then I have the knowledge that one day I'll have them all. On the other hand, I get discouraged that I will never want to play enough to get that many achievements, taking into account all of the bullshit rep grinds and weekly raid lockouts that hardcap the amount of attempts you have at certain achievements.
The part the messes with me so much is that I look down on this druid like "Holy shit, he must be the saddest, loneliest person in the world to have played enough to get all of those achievements. Like, no friends no job sad." Then I realize, wait a minute, that's exactly what I'm going for when I grind out those cheevs as well. Then I just feel bad all around.

Yeah, the ability queue can't be turned off because it's designed to fix an exploit.
What will come later is:
1) a slider to set how far ahead it lets you queue abilities so you can adjust it to your latency
2) a fix to how the queue works so that you can over-write abilities already in the queue

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Every day I log into WoW, queue for Horseman, do the cooking and fishing dailies, queue for hToC for seals, do the Troll Patrol dailies in Zul'drak, queue for the daily heroic, do all the argent tournament dailies (for seals) and then run Sethykk Halls to fight Anzu. This is about two, two and a half hours worth of work. On top of this, I need to get the lead out and farm up my Steamwheedle rep before cata comes out, and a bunch of other general achievements (40 reps, 100 mounts, critter achievements, book achievements, dungeon achievements.) I honestly couldn't explain to you why I'm bothering to do this.
I just played two hours of Team Fortress 2 to get the new holiday achievements and items, and I hardly play that game at all these days, and I suck something fierce on top of that. I'm putting off picking up the new Castlevania game and Borderlands: GotY edition so I can do Dead Rising 2 achievements(Which i never get around to because I'm busy with WoW), and I was originally planning on setting aside this weekend to play Gears of War 2 because it's 31x XP and is likely the best shot I have of getting near Level 100 and the level 100 achievement.
This is pants-on-head moronic. I really need to get a new hobby and reevaluate my life.
None of it has a point. Your victory over Dracula in Castlevania will be just as significant as your obscure achievement in WoW. Which is not even remotely fucking significant. They're goddamn video games.
So long as you enjoy it, more power to you. Unless you've become all creepy and obsessive about it.

Except beating the game is a challenge of skill. (Well, in theory. Depends on how well designed the game is.) in addition to experiencing a story (which I tend to enjoy in games more than most people I know.)
All that crap I listed above? It isn't about skill, for the most part. It's about time. It's just a load of time sinks with little to no reward. If I beat Castlevania I get to find out what happens at the end. If I get 40 exalted reputations in WoW.. I, uh.. have 40 exalted reputations in wow. Oh, and a title I guess.
And I really don't enjoy it. I tolerate it. I tolerate the tedium of it.
I just don't know how to give it up, because I KNOW three or six or nine months down the line, I'll be a moron and go "Jee, I really wish I had that achievement now. I feel bad because I had the chance to fill in a notch on some board that doesn't matter, and now when I play the game I feel incomplete. I need to break myself of this. But again, I'm not sure I can. If I, say, don't do those Troll Patrol dailies, every day I don't do them is a decrease in the chance that I will get the "Awesome" badge. Every day it it's a 1 in 500 chance and I have to do it every day to have the highest probability for it to drop. It's not even that great of an item. It just amuses me enough that I spend the 10 minutes every day doing dailies I am UTTERLY sick of. I'm also sick to shit of jousting. I joust in hToC, I joust in the Argent Tournament, and I joust at Icecrown citadel. Every. Fucking. Day. But I gotta farm those seals, so I can buy those mounts an get closer to that 100 mount achievement! Every day I don't do it means it's a day I have to do it later!
The worst part is, I can't escape this shit. These fucking achievements have infected everything. All Xbox games have them, all Playstation games have them, all Blizzard games have them now, and all Valve games have them and they even have a system that allows developers on Steam to add achievements as well.... Fuck, even some Nintendo games have this shit. (Metroid Prime Trilogy was lousy with them. They were even needed to unlock stuff.)

So, if I should make a DK on a new server to make money with, what would be the best course of action?
My plan as of now is to pick flowers/mine while queuing for randoms, but if anyone has any other ideas on how to do it I'd like to hear them.
You could try Herbalism/Inscription. Glyphs are still selling quite good and low level Darkmoon cards have spiked in demand on my server (tons of people going for Insane).
Anyway: If you're Horde, go Tauren DK for the faster herbing.
That was a comment on the vacuousness of the achievement system overall, not just people stressing about it. Should've been more clear.
There was actually a pretty cool article in game informer last month about how gamerscore and achievements are turning into the new standard by which gamers are measured, but it also talked about how the stuff is designed to compel certain types of people to play the games in a way that can be unhealthy. I liked reading it, but it didn't sting me because I don't care about that stuff.

Even online food ordering sites have achievement points now.
Are there any racial changes in Cata other than new classes for different races and the introduction of worgen+goblin? Are there any changes to racial abilities, that sort of thing?

They said they planned on it, but so far I don't think much has happened outside of killing perception.

Thanks. Another question that just came to mind concerning racials - has there been any move to reconcile the fact that horde have more mounts than alliance due to the lack of a worgen mount? I mean they could even just give the other alliance races an extra mount and it would even out - no? How hard could it be to throw a new color palette on existing models.

There were some racial changes. Off the top of my head:
Tauren herbalism bonus now also makes them herb faster.
Dwarves got Archeology bonus (more items) instead of Treasure Finding.
The Human PvP trinket got nerfed to 3 minutes CD.
In the latest beta patch all the "less chance to be hit by spells" racials were nerfed to resistance.
Didn't they change all the resistance racials to % to miss because +resist scaled pretty horribly, making them terrible racials in the first place? And now they'e changed them back.
Also, you know how fishing has three spots during the cast bar where it may catch a fish? Since the patch, has anyone else been having the last spot (which is the one I get 90% of the time because my luck in this game is absolute shit) be way to close to the end of the cast bar? Meaning that if you don't click it the second that it bobs, the cast bar goes away and you lose your chance to click it at all?
It can be gotten around by the fact that if it doesn't bob during the first two spots you know it will bob at the third and can pre-click it just before it gets to the end, but that means I actually have to pay attention to my fishing bar and makes fishing even more annoying than usual.
Lastly, has there been any word on what they're going to do with mages who renamed their water elementals? I can't imagine they'll let them keep the names, but can't find any blue response on it anywhere.
Holy hell I just went from 52 to 53 because of two random battleground ABs... I guess I know which way to level now.
Also is the lv 60 pvp gear still outclassed by early outland stuff? Because it would be pretty cool to hit outland in full warlord just for the ridiculous factor of it. Otherwise I'll just save it up and grab some brutal when I hit 70 or just say fuck it and stockpile till 85.
i'm impressed somebody reads all of the lore and pays attention to the story lines in game. I'm sure I've seen the guy he's talked about, done quests with or for the guy and yet ... no clue who he is.

Yes, the fishing thing is annoying.
Also, the Tauren herbalism bonus is just awesome. I recently moved my druid from one server to another and faction changed, and ohmygod I'm like some kind of flower-picking ninja.
