Deelock's Fine Art and Illustration (NSFW)

Hey everybody!

It's been a while since I shared any of my recent stuff. I've been extremely busy and I finally found a chance to photograph some still lifes, figure drawings and illustrations from school.

Working while going to school full time is doable but definitely kicking my ass. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Damn Dee, everything in this thread is bloody fantastic. I refuse to believe those are five-minute studies.

The contrast in this one is like whoa. I think it's my favourite thing in the thread.

    Although...

Something about the perspective in this one seems a tiny bit off, although it may just be me. It feels like the columns should be slightly more angled.

Dee, I REALLY like the last picture you uploaded, especially because I always have a hard time with city backgrounds like that (....backgrounds in general, actually........and perspective *cough*). It's really pleasing to the eye and imaginative.

The one before that, with the monster, while it's good, some things need to be cleaned up. I feel like the contour lines around the people are hurting the piece, because no where else (that I can see) has contour lines, so maybe ease up on that a bit (That's me just being super nitpicky about shit). ALSO, the monster looks like he'd have stump legs, or would be on his knees, and looks a bit silly. The detail on the face is excellent though! I loves me some monsters, so that's super awesome.

Other than that, your improvements are astounding, and you should be really proud of yourself!

Also, feel special. I've decided to post more around these parts after taking a rather long hiatus, and your my first crit (besides the doodle thread)!

I totally agree about everything you said about the monster piece, I really don't think that I planned it out nearly enough, I just really liked the monster :P

Thanks sub! You should post more!

Self portraits are really difficult for me. I know it's silly but I've always been very self conscious about my appearance. Anyone will tell you that I'm a confident person and I know that I'm intelligent and a good artist but looking at myself in the mirror is hard for me sometimes. I'm trying to make things better for myself, this project was a bit of a catalyst for this new push, but it seems like whatever weight I lose always comes back.

I guess I'm telling you guys this to just get it off my chest. Our project for last week in my figure drawing class was a self portrait. It was hard enough to take reference pictures but then having to wade through them and pick one that sucked the least to spend hours looking at as drawing material was suck.

Well, enough of self-deprecation and depression time. Here it is!
