Stickynote doodle at work that I expanded on- Didn't really feel like doing anything different than my normal shit, just sort of fucking around. Senseless doodles.
You know, I read some of Homestuck when it was still in early days and it was amusing, but all the fanart I've seen of it since then makes me terrified to find out what's become of it.
Personally, I liked the first half better because I sort of hate reading the chat logs. But like any anime fandom, the extrapolated fandom hardly represents the comic. The trolls just look like emo kids, and some of the elements sort of lend itself to jumping off points.
Its been a while since something I just kinda liked became a thing that teenagers obsess over, it sort of interests me as to what elements are being latched onto.
Theres some muddyness to the skintones though - if you added some saturation in the transition from the light to the shadow, I think the skin would read better. You already have that going on in some places like the shins and knees, but you should carry it through elsewhere.
That's really cool Iruka! Although, I think some strange things might be happening with her left hand.
Also Homestuck has changed quite a bit since it started, but the transition makes sense and goes over such a long time that you barely even notice it. Plus it's still excellent.

The act of drawing hair specifically...
wakkawa - think you could draw long hair from scratch on your stream sometime? (And record it obviously)
I swear, no matter how many times I draw hair I never get any wiser
I started out with some Dave's Bro, Cal, and an old guy who walked by
Did some reading from Dynamic Figure Drawing and did the first guy from the book, building up from all the shapes.
Did some more doodles, with the beard guy being inspired by the other guy drawing next to me. He was not as rough or as tumble, but his beard and stache were pretty great.

First thing is, figure centered in a perfectly square box usually makes for a pretty dull composition, unless you have a very very specific and good reason to do it. Look at Wakkawa's DeviantArt, and you'll have a hard time turning up perfectly square compositions, because most of the time squares just aren't as dynamic or interesting as rectangles.
Second thing is about edgework and value, and is something overlooked by a lot of people jumping into painting. I know this probably isn't how Wakkawa handles painting specifically, but I'm doing this in greyscale to show that this is general drawing issue and not a painting issue, and because it's a lot easier to explain and a lot easier for people to practice this point, without throwing the whole confusion of color picking into the mix right away.
Definitely going to apply that stuffs. Or try to. EDIT:
Definitely see a difference. Gonna work the face/hands later tonight after I do some errands. It also answers a lot of questions with my process that makes my work look very very sloppy no matter how much time I put into them. I really neglect soft brushes.
Still gotta practice practice practice to get the same look you do.
