Right now I have the fucking camera for a light and it's absolutely fucking terrible.
It is yes. It would have been cool as part of a puzzle but it fails miserably as a light source. The cigarette lighter is the best IMO.
Very true. The game can get very annoying with the broken glass, so you should keep it on you whenever possible. There's only one part where using it is dangerous, and I'm pretty sure that you can pick up a flashlight right before it.

Which part was that? I may well have picked up the flashlight at that point not out of strategy but just to see what it was like. :P

If I remember correctly, it's when you get to choose which way to go.
Of course, if you like Saw for some baffling reason you should just go watch the better films it ripped off instead.
If there's another several part horror film series with all sorts of crazy twists with big reveals at the end of each then I'd love to know about it.
The "torture porn" is not why I love Saw, I like it best when people escape the traps.
Saw is a blend of Cube, Seven and The Abominable Doctor Phibes, with stupid twists crammed in and all ability to hold a camera even halfway competently removed.
Just go watch those three. They're all much better.
I'm picking up a Wii next week, and I was wondering if there were any horror games for the system. The only two I know of are Silent Hill and Fatal Frame, and one of those isn't available in the US as far as I know.
There's also Cursed Mountain, although I don't think it's really all that scary. I guess it's more spooky than scary? I can't really describe it. It's pretty good though. Too bad the box art is shit.

Am I the only one who never finds a game scary? I played Penumbra for a little, and it wasn't scary at all, unless "I can't see shit" somehow translates to scary...
I got to the part where there was some dog walking around in the dark. I ran up to him and tried to whap it with the pipe I had. It killed me. I think I stopped playing after that.
Galactic Civilizations 2: Twilight of the Arnor gave me some dread when a few weeks after a massive political movement stole 8 of my planets and carved a new empire in the galaxy, the dread lords returned.
I think so. The first one is a real gem; short, not very complex, but a cool story and great atmosphere. The second one expands on every gameplay concept, ultimately making it the better game, but it is really out there in terms of plot. Some of it works, some of it doesn't, but it's still very creative and different from most games. Also FUCKING BEAR
Both are severely underrated, in my opinion.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
if you don't know anything about the first condemned going in then it will scare the living shit out of you at a few points
the second one is really too goofy to be creepy, but it has more adrenaline-pumping BOO! moments
Forensics on corpse in locker using cell-phone camera... zoom in on corpse with camera.... corpse suddenly turns heads and screeches. I scream, the main character screams, everybody screams.

So I played Condemned 2 and got bored shortly after the bear (which was admittedly fucking epic). Is Condemned 1 better/more atmospheric/better forensic shit in a way that makes it worth playing anyway?

You go through Condemned 1 with your character not knowing what the fuck is going on, but a lot of crazies popping out and attacking you, hell...
there's a point where you go through an entire house... dark, quiet... until you see a man with no skin running towards you... you panic, take the super-tazer and cringe when you see him twitching repeatedly as he dies.

I am aware of the "WTF" factor, but how does the gameplay/forensics/story compare?
Edit: Just noticed Skull's post. Excellent. I may grab it on the cheap.
Again, Condemned 2 expanded on pretty much every gameplay concept, all of which were incredibly basic in 1. I think 2 is by far the better game in terms of variety and combat, but the first one is more atmospheric and has better pacing overall.
Basically, I think 2 reaches greater heights than 1, but 1 is way more consistent in its quality. Both are worth playing, though.

Condemned the original is a flawed but great title that shows the game's concept has some legs. Mostly the game is too repetitive, the tactics you learn within the first twenty minuets will last you almost the entire game. The atmosphere is pretty great.
Condemned 2 is better in some important ways. The gameplay is better, more even, and evolves at a better clip. Some of the "new things" the game tries out don't work particularly well (why do you spend so much time with a gun in a game that's focused on punching hobos?), but its better gameplay than 1. It isn't all roses however, because..
(kind of spoiler)
The plot gets really really dumb about halfway through the game, around the same spot the gameplay takes a gigantic shit in your lap. Fighting for your life against crazed, half-alive vagrants is scary and new and neat and now you're fighting special forces dudes with machineguns using machineguns so its a crappy shooter hooray but no, wait, it gets worse:
seriously this stuff is actual spoilers
So apparently you have a super ninja secret power to scream at people and make them explode. So the first half of the game is a cautious, creepy horror game and the second half you're running around being chased by generic special forces guys while you use your ninja magical powers to make their heads explode. Which all ties in to some stupid bullshit plot about how the president uses magic voice powers to control the world and you're the only guy who can stop him or some shit, apparently you're now a bad dude and hopefully Condemned 3 has co-op and is actually just a big joke for the release of BAD DUDES 2: BADDER DUDES.
