yeah, i take cast iron forgings and turn them in a lathe and get uranium rods
you could probably win a nobel prize for that
or at least take that skill on the road and make some money before each audience dies of radiation poisoning

Last week me and a coworker took over an area of customer service - we're the only ones doing all the phone calls/emails/behind the scenes work for an entire product. We are completely revamping how it gets worked. I have a new boss, new desk in the corporate building, and a lot more personal accountability...
This week the coworkers is on vacation and it's just me...it could go really well or be bat shit crazy. I'm hoping with the holiday that it will be mellow and I can just listen to my iPod and answer emails.
I'm working on alchemy on the side. One day, lead will become gold and it will be nothing but hookers and blow.
but if you do figure out how to turn lead into gold, gold will lose most of its value
I just want to point out that we can basically manufacture diamonds right now and that doesn't stop shit.
Well the diamonds that are manufactured are used for industrial stuff, and are much cheaper than natural diamond. Also the whole gem diamond industry is a huge price-fixing scam.

labs are growing gem-quality colorless diamonds now
not just the tool grade manufactured shit

Ding ding ding ding.
Now apply that to the thing you said.

It doesn't stop shit because people think they're not as valuable as diamonds from the ground, even though they are often more perfect and can be told apart by the fact they are flawless.

basically, people are stupid
And synthetic diamonds are not widely available for consumer use in jewelry and since only a handful of places have them they can cost just as much if not more than natural diamonds. Until synthetic diamonds become more common the price on natural diamonds isn't going to budge.
yo voc i think i am going to join you at the pool during this chill out while being unemployed stretch, cool? let me just put on my don'tgiveashit shades.
My job has drained me of any remaining creative energy. I'm dreading going to work this week, and if it weren't for the upcoming holidays I would probably quit tomorrow.
Anyone got tips for someone looking to get into technical writing?
diamonds are basically one of the worst things, ever
hey, break the bank and buy your fiancee a diamond, its tradition
it's valuable!
why? we said so!
btw it was mined in sierra leone by starving africans who will never come close to having enough money to even buy a collared shirt

Your last job was way cooler than mine was.
On the upside, in ATL you will have a pool in our development in which to chill.
Move to Atlanta with us Vermi. Get a job at the aquarium! They probably have mammals too and you have worked with mammals!
My younger sister (out of the two who are both older than me) had me take some tests on data entry and typing speed.
Turns out I can hit over 10k keystrokes per hour with 100% accuracy on alphanumeric data entry, and also reach over 120 WPM (again, with 100% accuracy)
This is with zero work-related experience at the keyboard.
I've been applying like crazy and haven't heard anything back yet. Is a week the right amount of time to send a follow-up e-mail to places that you applied directly to?
I haven't heard anything back from the recruiter where the interviewer didn't bother to turn up, and another recruiter that was supposed to get back to me the next day is now nearly a week late. It's really demoralising. At this point I'd love to just have a flat-out rejection than not know.
I just don't get it. I'm good at what I do, have great reports from my boss and clients I've worked with, but places just don't give me a second glance. Can my CV be that bad?

I have to be unemployed for three weeks at the start of december, which is also (in a WONDERFUL coincidence) when I'm leaving my current flat. I still have nowhere permanent to live and can't even get anywhere until I get my pay riiiight at the end of the month. Looks like I'm sleeping on sofas/staying with my mum for a while. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

i have been unemployed since august it is terrible
That sucks Beasteh. At least round here we have a nice jobcentre with people who are mostly really looking to help you out. Still full of people signing on who really don't care about being there, but I've been to worse places.
Also, if you're still looking for cool places to volunteer try local museums and stuff. We have loads of excellent volunteers where I work, you'll likely learn a lot and there tend to be a bunch of good looking and usually really smart student type girls around, which is always a nice thing.
I only mention because when I was unemployed, the place I work at would have been an amazing find, and these places always need volunteers cos people tend to not think about them when they think of places to give their time at.
Also if you find a place even slightly similar to mine, you can put a WHOLE bunch of things on the ole CV. For example on an average day I'll teach kids (usually full on school groups), deal with the public, work on the shop, train newer volunteers and a whole bunch of other things.
Just a thought, and remember, chin up

less newspaper clippings on the walls, if they caught a hot chip there would be trouble
otherwise, yeah close enough
I wouldn't turn all the lead into gold, and I wouldn't share the secret.
What are you, some kind of alchemy noob?

God I'm blind in the morning. I read that as "I have never tasted my typing seed."
9 months of rejection letters + emails and signing on in a small room with unwashed chavs every single fucking week
i ended up volunteering at a local old peoples home just to have something to do
Moving on Friday and I'm so excited. I also passed both my driving tests and just need to send off for the permits and I can be on the road.
I also get paid on thursday which I badly need cause I'm overdrawn at the moment
