Everything in the Unreal3 engine looks like a wet sack of oranges, but nobody seems to complain (except me, natch).

isn't that a failure of art direction rather than the game engine? batman looked good but commissioner gordon looked like he washed out of the gears academy

i mean, mass effect 2 is on unreal engine 3, even

Bioware has a horrible time with their character animations. Everyone always looks 200% creepy, and the dialogue never fits right with the character's facial expressions. It's extremely jarring.

I can't think of any way to get a little cash; with the exception of getting an actual job which requires a car (which isn't feasible at the moment). My mother is a photographer, and at my age my brother was able to become an assistant shooter and 'rake in the dough' ($200 for a 5-hour wedding).

No such opportunity exists for me, and she really hasn't tried to come up with a anything, either. I can't do manual labor stuff around the yard or anything, because that just falls into the category of "rent-paying" chores. I've considered using my ability to edit photos to help her, but she doesn't trust me to do a sufficient job.

In the words of the whiniest bitch in the universe; Luke Skywalker: "It just isn't fair".

    Any suggestions?

there's an excellent opportunity for broke young people such as yourself behind Olive Garden

(try and find small commissions for artwork?)

I've considered commissions, but then I realized that I fucking suck and I can't possibly sell this nonsense to people. It'd either turn out poorly, or I'd spend 200 hours on a 3-hour drawing.

I'll try the Olive Garden option.
    No I won't.

    EDIT: AH! TOTP!

I saw The National play on Saturday night. I was made happy.

Also, how the hell does this work:
These are hand painted reproductions of an original painting I did of my D&D character Jim Darkmagic. ... The piece has been reproduced with Oil paint on canvas. It is 20" high x 16" wide and Includes hanging materials. Only 500 of these exist and of those only about 490 will be sold.

FIVE HUNDRED?? I'm imagining a warehouse full of enslaved children, all painting away...

i agree, but e was referring to people's appearance, not the way they move

unless UE3 has a particularly orangey-way it renders animations

You see, this is just plain discrimination.

Bethesda has an equal-opportunity digital actor policy. They make their games using mostly severely disfigured digital people who otherwise have no chance to be in the spotlight.

Learn to be more tolerant, people.

Hey I didn't complain. I was able to make races that weren't even represented in the game, a goblin from an elf for example!
But it was still incredibly annoying to have all my sneak attempts blown away because of my highly illuminated head.
