there's also the issue that there are still trace amounts of phosphorous left from when they did the experiment and it doesn't necessarily mean they could survive or evolve in an environment without phosphorous blah blah blah
Never said it's not neat, just trying to keep people grounded in reality after reading silly articles like the Gizmodo one claiming that this "changes everything!"

Yeah, you guys covered that subject fairly exstensively. The implications alone are fuckin astounding, but maybe only for hardcore biology nerds and sci-fi writers. Imagine if we could find the key to altering our own dna to allow for exploration in such an alien environment. Kinda far out, but only a possible application.
So apparently the military has had an unmanned spacecraft floating above our heads for the last 9 months. This thing knew it's time was up and landed all by itself. Not too shabby at all. Here ya go.

Yeah, I remember that thing launching, and then the news just......stopped. they were highly successful at keeping this one under wraps. Which is amazing for a vehicle of this nature and capabilities. It's like the global hawk in space. I could speculate its purpose to be something akin to a technology scavenger. Or possibly just an empty drone. Sure would like to see those cargo doors open.
I heard a thing about a space plane the other day on the radio, it sounded pretty cool.

Yeah, I remember a couple of projects along the lines of the x-33 or x-34 or something where they were gonna put a scramjet in a shuttle-like platform for a cheap reusable launch vehicle that could take off from a runway. Maybe its mission changed. Ahg i'll look it up later. My resources are limited atm.

I went to the Griffith Observatory Saturday. Space is just so effin' cool. Reminded me of being a kid and looking at pictures of space and fuck, my wee mind being blown away.
just plain thinking about the sun, what it is, how it works, but ultimately how fucking big it is, is goddamn terrifying sometimes
