never read Cicero, but our Philosophy department at my alma mater had a policy of "start with Aristotle, work forward, if you don't scrub out by the time you get through industrial-era thought, you're ready to write your thesis on it"

But I already have a backlog!
I got a free Quran that I've been meaning to read.
And a book on ethics and metaethics.
And a book about Ibn Battuta.
And some introductory Kant!

Nah. A book about Ibn Battuta. The Rihla would've been way too dense to assign for a class (finishing up a Middle East history class). The Adventures of Ibn Battuta by Ross E. Dunn. I only need to read the first 160 pages for my final, but I figure I bought it so I might as well finish it.

I just finished up The Crusades Through Arab Eyes by Amin Maalouf and really enjoyed it. I'd like to learn more about Salah al-Din.
Any amount of bandwidth Anon could take up would not compare to what Amazon deals with every day
They tried this same shit with tumblr
I'm not even sure if they affected it at all because that site already goes down so much
It's not 2004 anymore, you can't do lasting damage through DDOS
Don't think I have to tell anyone here that all they're doing is idle dickwaving, and when they do manage something halfway important its something terrible that makes their side look awful (ie: Palin's credit card numbers)

google, amazon, ebay, facebook and the like deal with so many customers a day that a "ddos" attack by 4000 people only shows up as a blip on their traffic if they look really closely..

Query!
So, do ddos's that originate from social groups like this one look different from someone firing up a botnet? Or is it pretty much the same thing? I have it in my head that this sort of attack would prolly be much weaker.

I do not have to be mad at you
His stubbornness is something I marvel
basically, if you hear a US Senator say something about legal theory during a confirmation hearing
assume the opposite is true
you will be, if not correct, at least on the right track
That is a big mistake that a lot of people make
"The life of the law has not been logic; it has been experience." is the most obvious and best quote about law of all time.
I can dig on strict constructionism
You need people like Thomas and Scalia
You need their side
You want them on that panel
You need them on that panel
And we did a ton of stuff on applicability of the Geneva Conventions.
And a lot with torture. Natural Law Theory. The idea of international law.
Interesting class, even if I did super poorly.

thomas is a strict constructionist who wants to be proactive, but feels compelled to maintain status quo
scalia is mostly just a fascist
nah
It works even better when I doublepost
Positivism and natural law theory were probably my favorite parts of that class.
Though I've continually wondered where NLT is derived from. Or if it can be derived from multiple schools of thought.
