I could have done without the lady. I mean, come on Cos, the only women coming to see the movie were either dragged there by their dumbass boyfriends, or lesbians. Go the Road to Perdition route and straight up declare "no gurlz alowed."

Open Range had Robert Duvall and Michael Gambon in it, which is as good a reason to see a film as anything

Look, I don't know how lucky ned pepper was in this movie, but I can tell you that he probably wasn't as good as Robert Duvall.

Matt Damon is a million times better than Glen Campbell, though, so maybe it's a wash.

I got in because the girlfriend's female roommate is a promoter and had a few extra tickets

they both came in saying "I hate westerns" and left saying "damn that was a good movie"

I am about 1/3 of the way through the book the miniseries was based on

it's so dang ol' good. it won a pulitzer! how often does that happen for a western?

since I saw the series first I can't see anybody but tommy lee jones and robert duvall as the two leads. they could not have been better casted

Oh man, Birthday/Christmas. How much has that cut into your haul over the years?

Actually not too much. My parents were always very good about bestowing an appropriate amount of loot each day. And for a while, we even did a half-birthday thing in June to even things out. Probably the most annoying aspect of it is just the logistics of throwing a party 3 days before Christmas - everyone's busy with family stuff and all that.

Anyway, I hope this movie actually comes out on the 22nd in my town! IMDB tells me it will, so that's a good sign.

Also chalk up one more in the Jeff Bridges Fan Club over here. He's great. I think the most recent thing I saw him in was Crazy Heart, which I really enjoyed.

This is much closer to a lot of their other work than No Country; it's wittier, the characters are more comical, it's somewhat less violent

I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison, No Country was way out of the ordinary for them.
