Just 'Hey, we're grabbing the best fighters from Earth, and making them fight demons'. And it was the best game-to-movie adaptation ever.

Amen, hands down my favorite VG-> Movie adaptation.

But honestly, I'm re-playing Uncharted 2 now, why mess with this? It's perfect as is, imagine this just being a high action movie with this plot? It would be like 2hrs of the beginning of Casino Royale but with Nathan Fillion wise cracking. God damn I would pay to see that movie 40x.

    But

You already have Uncharted 2 to play

I don't have to imagine a high action movie with that plot, Uncharted 2 is a high action movie with that plot, except you get to shoot dudes yourself

An Uncharted movie is completely redundant

I completely agree with UV, there's no point to the Uncharted movie. There are plenty of movies LIKE Uncharted, from which Uncharted takes notes/gives nods. Also there's no way a movie could pull off as many impressive set pieces as Uncharted 2, the budget would have to be tremendous.

I'm replaying the game at the moment on hard (I played through on Easy first time as my other half was watching and it's frustrating to hold up the plot if I get stuck for 20minutes) and I can honestly say, in my opinion, it's the best game I've ever played. I put in about 4 hours and in that time I've been chased by a tank, had a firefight in a collapsing building, run across rooftops being chased by a helicopter and jumped from train carriage to train carriage (amongst other things).

    It's absolutely astounding.

I would like a movie rendition so I can sit back and watch it for 2.5hrs and be entertained. The game sucks up 15hrs of my life every time I put it in.

I'm playing on Hard as well, and I have to say it's Hard without being cheap. (Though, that last fight may drive me insane) Oddly enough, playing this after playing Vanquish has made me better. I'm trying new things. Like the guys in full armor; I used to always just hide and run and go for head shots. Now I shoot them in the leg, let them see me, then go behind cover and get around them and snap their necks.

    Fantastic. Great characters and action.

I've been doing that on this play through too! Makes things much easier. The train still dominated me for a while though. Generally when I tried a different approach though, it worked.

That said I can't STAND the bullet sponge guy on the train. He survived a direct hit from two grenades and a shot gun blast to the face.

So yeah, I'm late with this series. But better late than never right?

Picked up Uncharted 1 and 2 today for $50.00 used. They run like champs.

Holy cow these games are pretty.

However, I find myself adjusting to the fact that Drake is not nearly as good at Parkour as Ezio or Altiar. :P

Wahlberg was terrible in The Departed

He was there to break up all the tension of that film (because goddamn, it was tense enough to be overbearing) by showing up and just throwing out a string of curses

That's not good acting. There's pretty much no way that can be fucked up.

I'm not crazy about Boogie Nights either but I think that's more PTA's fault. I'd really like to see The Fighter before I make my final judgment on Marky Mark.

Everything you just said is wrong. He was nominated for an Oscar for The Departed, and every single person besides you thought he was one of the high points.

I love Marky Mark, he just makes quite a few suspect film decisions (like Kristen Bell and a number of other actors/actresses I like).

The Uncharted movie story is a far bigger concern, especially de Niro playing Drake's dad or whatever.

For a while I was playing Uncharted 2 online pretty consistently. There's still a pretty sizeable community, and it's a fun game. It's much faster paced than a Gears or other cover based shooters so I'm entertained. I just wished for more weapon variety.

    Beat Uncharted.

While an action packed ride, several aspects of the game left me rather frustrated.

First of all, throwing me into the middle of a gun battle, without the slightest idea of where enemies are spawning from or where there is good cover, is stupid. Period. Dying a dozen times because you do not know the *exact* sequence of who to target or where to run to is stupid. Being flanked from the opposite direction of a sector you just cleared is also, you guessed it, stupid.

I know this was done to pad the game's length a bit, but being forced to memorize spawn patterns and enemy locations is not indicative of a good gunplay system. I never really felt like I had a choice in combat. It came down to hitting that guy above with the laser sight, that other guy with the grenade launcher to the left, and blowing away those two cocksuckers who just dropped over a wall to your right.

In short, while a fun game with good characters, I don't think I missed too much by waiting for the price drop.

Are you referring to #1 because I felt that #2 cleaned up these areas a lot. Just the fact that I was able to beat the sequel on crushing compared to having the game rob me of my innocence...violently, was for me indication of improvement. Or rather I didn't feel like I HAD to perform a specific sequence (and perfectly) in order to move forward.

I think it's Far Cry syndrome.

Far Cry starts out with an awesome difficulty curve, just like Uncharted. Through about half of the game, the difficulty is just right, the enviroments are interesting, and everything is wonderful. (And the 'special enemies' this time around are much better than Trigens were).

The designers run out of gameplay variety and resort to spamming insta-kill snipers and ENEMIES EVERYWHERE troop rushes to keep things 'interesting'.

Edit: Yes Evil Monkey, I'm refering to the first game. Taking a bit of a break before UC2.

Still the way the game can patch on the fly without having to go through a certification process is something all games should look into doing. Most of those synch hours were small little adjustments they had made over the entire life of the online game. Most games out there don't have the volume of input from the online games or the capability to make on the fly adjustments like that.

    Just reporting back,

Definitely enjoying Uncharted 2 more than its predecessor. I just made it to the warn torn village, and 90% of the combat complaints I had in the original seem to have been fixed. Drake can take more than a few paper cuts before keeling over, and melee/enemy placement seems more fair.

Oh yeah, and holy shit this game is pretty.

What I liked about Uncharted 1's situation was that it felt like a Puzzle Shooter.

And it also made you feel really badass eventually.

    Eventually being the key word.

Like, after you'd play a section enough times, you'd be able to just dash through the early portions of it, feeling like a pro in areas that had previously killed you. I loved learning the spawns and then being able to run and gun and melee whereas previously I had to duck and hide and take potshots.

But then again, I never even bothered to try playing it on hard. :P

On hard I'd DEFINITELY agree, on Medium I never had much of an issue with the firefights. Did you use melee at all? Charging at someone shooting, then punching/kicking them in the face to finish them off was awesome.

As has been said though, the sequel is definitely better in this regard (there are still a couple of places where I got bored of waves of enemies though).

It was mostly the areas like that fucking monestary courtyard where not only could you be flanked from every concievabal side, but you had no idea where the enemies were coming from. I made it through the last two big firefight sequences (before the boat which was pure trial and error) on luck.

I gave up on melee after trying to take down a final shotgun guy after a wave and getting potted after one shot.

Nearly to the end of UC2,

By far a superior game, not just by the increase in scope, but in focus as well. Everything that was sketchy in the first game was removed, while the long, and at times boring stretches of *just shooting* has been shaken up considerably. I loved the addition of more banter between characters. The hotel shoot out, train and jeep to jeep combat are amongst the most viscreal gaming I've ever played on PS3.

I still find myself screaming, "WHY WON'T YOU JUST DIE!" at heavy guards though. A clip of 30 M-4 rounds to the head should kill any living thing on Earth.
