Hi everybody!

This is a thread to talk about the wonderfuls tuff coming out over at Boom studios.

http://www.boom-studios.net/

BOOM is currently best known for publishing Disney comics, such as the recent revivals of Darkwing Duck, the soon to come Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, and the Incredibles. They are also the home for Stan Lee's 3 upcoming series, Soldier Zero, Starborn, and Traveler.

IRREDEEMABLE and INCORRUPTIBLE are both fun books, in different ways.

Busiek's DRACULA: COMPANY OF MONSTERS is a solid comic with an interesting hook on Dracula.

DARKWING DUCK is like a slightly aged-up version of the cartoon, so if you liked the cartoon as a kid, you'll probably like the comic.

The 28 DAYS LATER ongoing is a solid zombie book.

Mark Waid should talk Kesel and Grummett into relaunching SECTION ZERO at Boom, and he should talk Busiek and Immomen into bringing back Superstar (I know they just re-released a hardcover of Shockrockets at IDW), and Busiek and Pacheco into bringing back Arrowsmith.

I keep reading Irredeemable, despite constantly waffling back and forth on whether I like it. I feel like it's a series that's destined to get dragged out way, way too long.

Its only four issues in (#4 comes out this Wednesday) - here's an 11 page preview of the first issue:

    http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=6005

There are three parallel stories going on in the book - modern day corporate espionage, modern day monster hunters, and past adventures of Dracula. Its all good stuff. I mean, it's Busiek.

They kind of turned the book on its head with issue #19 -
I'm curious as to how long Waid will leave the Plutonian at the mercy of the Vespa.

In retrospect, I think the first 12 issues of the series read better in one helping, instead of in monthly installments. Some of that was probably due to the universe building that had to be done, but I feel like I've gotten a much more satisfactory reading experience with each of the last 4-5 issues.

I read Irredeemable in trade format right now and I like it. I want to read Incorruptible as well but I wish the trades were a bit cheaper at only 4 issues per book.

I stopped getting Irredeemable after a while, it was good but I couldn't keep up interest. Incorruptible, however, is grand. Just some sweet writing and cool ass scenes. Also it tends to be a little less morbid than Irredeemable.

I'm just happy they finally started releasing the Farscape collections in trade paperback. The hardcovers were far too expensive.

I'm in for the long haul on the Farscape series as long as they continue in tpb.

I've got an Amazon gift card I could use to get both Incorruptible trades I guess, along with Irredeamable volume 4.

They pop up every now and then, I don't think they ever had an ongoing.

Also Dracula is a great book.

I wish they would do another Hexed series and release it digitally like the first. Great comic and looks swell on my iPad.

Just read Irredeamable volume 5 and I loved it. I don't get people complaining about how nothing happens in the book, plenty of major league shit happens in this volume.

Boom! also did the absolutely mind-blowingly awesome Fall of Cthulhu series. Just read those recently. Amazing. Definitely worth a look if you have even a cursory interest in Lovecraft.

For nostalgia alone I'm gonna need to get me a copy of Rescue Rangers. God I loved the RR crew when I was a kid. Monetary Jack, you sly devil you!

    Sometimes,
    Some Crimes,
    Go slipping through the cracks,
    But these two gumshoes,
    Are picking up the slack!

I've had somewhat reoccurring (maybe once every few years, but I remember them) nightmares about the Koo-Koo Cola cult episode from Rescue Rangers, ever since I saw that episode. So.....over twenty years ago? I'm not even sure of what exactly freaked me out about that episode.

How fast does BOOM! get their trades out? Because the first Darkwing Duck trade is out already but I'm thinking ahead for the Rescue Rangers and whether to get it in singles or trade.
