that was why I was willing to accept something in lieu of a goalie. Garon's good, but he's not a real #1 goaltender. If we were playing clutch and grab like last year then we could probably ride Garon hard, but Arniel's system has a tendency to create some odd-man rushes the other way from time to time. I could probably live with that if our blue line didn't play out of position when it was even. I like Arniel and I like our offense (mostly anyway, guys tend to just watch Nash play too often), and on paper I like our defense, but we have too many stationary, shut-down guys and not enough good skaters/passers back there.
boxing day! I woke up stupidly late to catch the last two periods of the world juniors. Canada beat Russia today 6-3, with a goal off the face off 23 seconds before the game ended.
Dan Cleary's out for at least a month with a fractured ankle. Now is apparently the portion of the Wings season when everyone who can score a goal gets hurt.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

It's okay, Kris Draper is back and scoring goals again......:rotate:
Hopefully this injury bug doesnt stick around Detroit for too long like it did last year.
I felt bad when Horichuk got traded. How am I going to feel if Salo comes back and Bieska gets traded?
edit: I want to add, Jeff Tambellini is like, my favorite guy. Vancovuer really lucked out. We missed out on all his awkward years, signed him for minimum dollars, and now he's playing like a man possessed. Local BC Kid, grew up as a Canucks fan, desperately wants to keep playing there. He's still living in a Hotel, in case he gets sent back down again...
Oh man, I lost to the Grizzlies by less than a point this week
edit: and I have Spezza! Dammit!
If it's any consolation, I should note that I totally forgot that the NHL started again tonight and I left two players on the bench for 10 points total. So I would've won by 10.9 points rather than 0.9 points :P
Was it a hit from behind worth a two minute penalty? Yes.
Did he lose an edge and fall awkwardly into the boards? Yes.
He lost an edge specifically because of Letang though. You can try to reason it away all you want. Maybe it wasn't malicious, but it wasn't incidental.
Thornton doesn't have a history of dirty hits and was issued a game misconduct and suspended because Perron wasn't looking where he was going and ran into him
Letang intentionally boards Spezza, causes injury, and only receives 2 minutes
Motherfucking shitty-discipline d-men leave Mikko motherfucking Koivu ALONE directly in front of the net for what felt like an eternity (actually about 7 seconds, but still that's fucking forever) and he takes his sweet fucking time to deke Mason like 6 fucking times and nets it with 1.5 left in the fucking period.

There you go. That explains everything.
Garon is good. team in front of him didn't show up at all.. He got pulled out of mercy.
Iginla has a no-trade clause. He does not want to leave Calgary.
Regardless of the mismanagement of the Sutters, this is a great hockey town.
Have I mentioned recently how bullshit a stat that is?
Of course in this case it is pretty indicative of how poorly the Sharks' top line has been playing
Give Couture the C I say!

Close week.
Unfortunate place to lose an edge.
Semi-on-topic: Just won a pair of tix to the Canada game at the world juniors for tomorrow!

Exactly why it will not be anything more than a 2min penalty.

Ridiculous
The Gill hit from a few years ago for example.
It's even worse when superstars get away with murder and yet grinders get called out on the most innocent of plays.
Pissed.
Yeah
He actually got suspended for boarding last season and averages about 70 PIMs a season. Please at least try to make sense in your Ovechkin bashing.
