For those who haven't seen it yet, Red Letter Media posted their Star Wars Episode 3 review. Hosted by the wonderfully creepy and borderline-insane Mr. Plinkett, it carefully dissects why Episode 3 is not the saviour of the prequels it is claimed to be.

Here's the link, dunno if they'll pop up on Youtube or not.

"But GreasyKidsStuff, who is this guy? And why does he talk so weird?"

Mr. Plinkett, as he calls himself, is a pizza roll-loving creepy guy who kidnaps kids and reviews films. His Phantom Menace review became immensely popular last year and created a huge amount of buzz for the other films to be reviewed in the same manner. One year later we finally have the third film!

    His Phantom Menace review became popular last year? I mean, I know we like to wait until DVD releases before we really judge movies or whatever, but, what?

    His reviews are in-depth deconstructions of nearly everything that has ever annoyed you about the movies. They are nearly as long as the movie that's being reviewed and make extensive use of clips from the movie. They really couldn't be done without having the DVD on hand.

    If you have the time to spare, watch the episode 1 review. If you don't feel at least marginally entertained (or at the least more entertained then if you watched the actual movie), I'll send you a pizza roll.

    guys you should watch the Red Letter Media review of the new Star Trek

    it's pretty different from the Star Wars reviews (mostly because he actually likes the movie for what it is, which is a whiz-bang popcorn movie) although he does do the nitpicky type stuff he does in the Star Wars reviews

    but more importantly, he actually goes at length on a pretty insightful bit of ranting about Star Trek, science fiction in general, and the way sci-fi has changed.

    it's pretty fascinating stuff interspersed with ranting about his cat and dead ex-wife

    Yes well this guy is really really good.

    It's hilarious (the whole murder thing etc) and really insightful. Like he says stuff and I go "Oooh yeah I didn't even realize that bothered me so much, but it's true."

    what, like the "hurr breaking out of the review to talk about how i keep some woman in my basement" shit? that's pretty awful and is the only bad thing about the series. it is too bad that there's so much of it, but it doesn't even come close to outweighing how fantastic the rest of it is, so these are still one of my favorite things on the internet.

    in his phantom menace review he talks about a test to see if a character is memorable or not, where you ask people to describe a character without talking about what they look like or what their job is

    watching people fucking blank on the Phantom Menace's characters is pretty stunning

    Happy to be of service.

    And yeah, I think the murderer-subplot is kind of necessary. In Episode II it got a bit ridiculous because he kinda develops this relationship with the girl, but in the first one it was really well done. And the really quick cuts to random shit really helps break it up.

    he also can't help but take another couple potshots at the Star Wars prequels in it

    he actually says "Star Trek is a better Star Wars movie than the Star Wars prequels"

    I think his Star Trek review is also something where he cited some crazy percentage of movies made in the past five years to be remakes or reimaginings.
