Hmm, well then. What about an assassin type character? Murderer and Thief For Hire? Heh.
This could be done pretty easily, really. Just find a class with good access to Espionage skills, and maybe Mechanical skills.

Prowl, Pick Locks (or Locksmith), Sniper, Climb, Hand to Hand: Assassin/Martial Arts, W.P. Energy Rifles, W.P. Knife makes for an effective wetwork guy. Beyond that, the rest of the skills will help you specialize (maybe you disguise yourself to get close to the target, or arrange elaborate explosive traps for them instead), or shore up your ability to work in that field effectively (boxing, fencing, running, languages, surveillance, etc). Then all you need is a suit of light armor that doesn't make much noise, a nice long range energy rifle, a clear shot and a cred chip.

There are even some classes built around this very thing. Tech-Ninja, Spy, Headhunter Assassin, etc are all different takes on this with different focuses.

Tons of assassins; there are even character classes specifically designed for hunting down other specific character types. There aren't many 'rogues' per say... in fact, off of the top of my head, I can't think of any dedicated thieves or rogues.
City Rats, especially the variants in the bionics handbook, do the thief role very well.

So, what are everyones favorite wierd ass things in the Source books?

For me, the asgardian section of Pantheons dimension book takes the cake. First off, you have Asgardian dwarves who can take an RCC that gives them 2 rune weapons and litterally no skills of any kindO_o; they couldn't even speak technically. Then, theres the asgardian giants who don't have a PB attribute... which doesn't mean that they are ugly (ugly races just have very low PB) but rather are perpetually invisible (or so I presume).

Good lord, this was a brutal process of character creation. Sigh, but the fluff and art are so awesome!

I don't know how well an Ex-Coalition Spec. Forces guy will fit in, but I always found the imagery of the CS stuff awesome. Consider him disillusioned with the Coalition, seeing as how he was an immigrant from Free Quebec in the first place. One day, his superiors sent him out into the wild on a mission to meet with some hired mercs and bring vital intel on the siege of Tolkeen (or whatever) and Mason never came back.

    When I think "dragonborg", I think this;

    dragonborg2.jpg

so we might be on different wavelengths.

Though I'm pretty sure any supernatural creature with M.D. regeneration can't have bionics (or any other kind of implant).

There were techno-wizard bionics in... Canada(?) I believe. I think those were limited to discrete augmentation (single limbs) though.

No one said the were-dragonborg had to be full conversion, just a few limbs, also he could be cursed to not regenerate somehow, there has to be something in some book. Okay I'll stop, but I think that character is doable with the game as it is written...

My character is just the weatherman/ Medical doctor/emergency rations/weaver/vampire and evil and magic radar, a valuable commodity on a pirate (air?)ship.

But... what limbs would be enough to be considered dragonborg?

Even with wings, claws, and a tail you look more like a gargoyle than a dragon. A dragonhead is important!

...I guess you could have a fanged helm that shoots fire? But then why wouldn't partial conversions just cover their fleshy parts with armor anyway?

CHAPTER 1 : BAH! THE MIDWEST!

MISSION ONE - THE LEVERAGE OF JOHNNY CLANKSWAGGER

21:00 HOURS, END OF THE LINE SMUGGLER'S STOP - ILLINOIS

    It's been a beauty of a year.

With the outbreak of war between the Coalition, Quebec and Tolkeen, the bulk of the imperial security forces have either been sent to the front or reeled all the way back to Chi Town to ensure a total lockdown. Only the 'leftovers' have remained on law enforcement patrol; mostly small clusters of rookies with outdated equipment.

Absent any CS watchkeepers, the market floodgates have been blown right off their hinges. It seems like you can buy or sell just about anything right now; even the exotic slave stock & weaponry from Atlantis might find it's way to you if you can lay down a high enough bid.

The End of the Line has become a major center for illegal trade & shenanigans over the last four months or so within this new (and likely only temporary) climate, and that's why you've found yourself here. Maybe you're here as a buyer, maybe you're here as a seller, maybe you're looking for work, maybe you're looking for entertainment, maybe you're looking for relaxation, maybe you're trying to serve as some impromptu lawman (or woman) to keep the chaos at least somewhat contained; maybe you're new to the place, maybe this is your home away from home.

Whatever your purpose at the End of the Line or your acquaintanceship with it, though, there's hardly any mistaking the sputtering, smoke-belching sight of Johnny Clankswagger as he rolls into the establishment; even if you've never heard his name before tonight, the large posters hung on nearly every wall depicting the tattered cloak & tricorn adorned heavy 'borg and stating in bold print, 'JOHNNY CLANKSWAGGER : SMASH YOUR BOTTLE ON HIM AND YOUR NEXT 5 DRINKS ARE ON THE HOUSE' ought to clue you in to his local notoriety.

And sure enough, the bottles, mugs and bottles are flying from each table more or less as soon as the machine comes into their line of sight.

"What're the big plans tonight, Johnny? Gonna fly off to the moon and look for buried treasure up there, instead?"

"I thought he'd be a pile of smoking slag by now for sure..."

The 'borg maneuvers itself into the approximate center of the establishment, ignoring the insults & glass projectiles shattering against it's frame (except to re-adjust it's hat whenever it gets knocked askew).

    OOC: It begins!

I'll give everyone a chance to make an introductory post & have a bit of social fun (just enough so that we can all get a sense of each character's flavor), and then I'll just dive right into things.

Diemos is wearing a suit of Dead Boy armor, sans helmet. He instead sports a pair of sunglasses atop his head. The missing mask betrays short black hair, light skin, and ridiculously dilated pupils. He has an earth-toned zarape draped across one shoulder. Besides a knife that sits sheathed on his belt, he appears unarmed.

He stands at the counter near the till, trying to avoid the alternate sprays of glass and fermentation coming from the center of the room, and bangs his fist on the bar between a defaced psi-stalker helmet and a closed leather bag, trying to get service over the roar.

"Have you ever tried to subdue an animated coca tree? Surrounded by culebras that could swallow a man whole? I need at least 1000 credits for this blow!"

Waiting for service, his glance passes over Johnny Clankswagger in complete indifference, until his gaze settles on a D-Bee he stares at in complete disdain.

OOC taking the first opportunity to sell some of my black market starting goods. He's carrying his plasma pistol conceiled in a holster behind the zarape. Like I said, first time. SO if there's some sort of standard protocol I break let me know.
