    I'm kind of mixed.

On one hand, I think the new setting is too grimdark.

On the other hand...it probably means no more driving missions.

    So conflicted.

They had damn well better have the drilling vehicle from Total Recall like in RF1. An underground setting with destructible terrain begs for it.

It'd be pointless since there's no destructible terrain.

I just concluded the interview, and I didn't sign any NDA's, so I think I'm legally in the clear. I'll give you some updates once I've finished transcribing the interview.

New trailer for Red Faction: Armageddon

    RF:A Trailer

There's definitely a slightly creepy "uh-oh, I'm not alone down here" atmosphere. I'm looking forward to this. Roll on May.

    Holy shit.

    That actually looks good.

And not just in a whoa, that's a funky playground kinda way.

I liked the walker crashing through a structure. I'd love the enemies to use destructible environments.

Is it the middle of May yet?

Because having read this Hands-on on RF: Armageddon, I really want it to be the middle of May right about now.

    RF:A Demo

Perhaps I should look into some form of hibernation to help the time pass more quickly.

    Holy shit

    The Magnet Gun looks AWESOME.

So does the Plasma Beam and the Singularity Cannon and well every gun looks great.

I had qualms about going back to linearity, but not anymore. That video just washed those concerns away.

I really hope the marketing department can shake the negative perceptions of this game, because you can tell Volition put some love into that and it deserves to sell.

Singularity gun looks pretty cool, like the charges from RF:G but useful.

RF:G, BC2, and Crysis to an extent have made me feel quite BLAH about games that don't let you blow structures up. If I'm going to play a game with static environments, I will just play Counterstrike or Doom.

The commercial for Armegeddon should have Henry Rollins standing on top of a building, looking at the camera, asking the audience, Do you want to kill with guns (show tiny rainbow soldiers shooting each other with pistols, 20 stories down) Or do you want to kill with the power of SIR ISSAC NEWTON? (hit detonator, run off building, hit jetpack and fly to next building while first building falls onto tiny soldiers) RED FACTION ARMAGEDDON! KILLING! WITH PHYSICS!

I wonder if there will be landmines, or something similar. Set up a location, then magnet gun a big enemy to it.

Magnet mines would be sweet. Place the one you want to be the trap, and the other one supplies the "load". The enemy walks past the first one and sets it off, gets crushed from random direction by tons of concrete and steel.

Remote mines are in for sure. The last game had trip mines, so I'd expect an upgraded version.

I'd imagine so. One of the weapons available to you in RF:G was a proximity mine, so I'd be surprised if RF:A doesn't have 'em.

    Edit: Beaten.

Guerrilla came with the THQ pack I bought in December. Except I can't seem to get this game to look half decent and run well. I'm running an i7, 6 gigs of memory and a 1 gig nvidia... Shit is just not making sense.

I really wanted to check this out because I was in love with Red Faction 1, played through that game like 8 or 9 times back in the day on my GF3 Ti500.

I had the same issue on a similar rig. One of the advanced graphical options made it run like shit. I can't remember what it was though. Maybe one of the lighting options.

Its not so much the lack of open world that has me disinterested, its the unscary aliens and the uninteresting premise they've presented so far (or at least Ive personally not found it appealing).

Is it a full game or an expansion pack or something?

Thanks, but I'll end up just googling this when I have time. I'm backlogged to hell. I was putting this ahead of a few other games, but will have to revisit later.

It's a terrific sandbox game - and especially worth it considering you can find it online for like $15.

Can't say I'm particularly thrilled with how the new one is turning out though.
