Man if I teach this thing any more Canadian personalities it's going to be wearing a toque and plaid jacket and popping out of a stubby beer bottle soon.
Just for shits and giggles I went with Jim Kirk. Akinator narrowed it down to "starship captains from Star Trek who are white and not bald" in 7 or 8 questions and then proceeded to ask all kinds of weird shit, such as "is your character a manga artist? for the remaining 12 questions. In the end it guessed Kirk, of course.

Strange.
I'm pretty sure it'll always ask at least 20 questions, so if it's sure it starts asking random shit where it doesn't know the answer for that character, to build up the database.
EDIT: er, nevermind, it just got the kid from Limbo in 15 questions.
Aioua on
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Yeah, this was my interpretation, too. Either it's throwing out very strange corner-case answers (possibly entered by trolls) or it's just looking for free information once it knows what I'm guessing.
I don't think it always ask 20 questions. But you can almost see the moment it guesses and starts to toy with you.
"Does she lead a group?" "Does she fight for love and justice?" (Sailor Moon)
"Does she kill people?" "Is she isreali?" NCIS character
I think it's just randomly trying to gather more data (or verify existing data) on the person since it think's it knows who it is. Hit 'last games' real fast after you're done and click on their name in the list. You can see which questions were 'new' for that character if the expected response was "?"
I'm consistently impressed at how I can tread the boundaries of what I think it ought to be able to guess and still I end up staring at the correct answer a few seconds later.
I mean, I could pick someone really obscure and go with it--but that wouldn't be much fun.
I just played Norman Borlaug and it took two tries--first guess was Carl Sagan.
Edward Teach and Dirk the Daring were both guessed by him. It's so fucking weird/cool when it starts making such specific questions as "Does he have a distinguishing feature on his face?"
Ahahaha it got Sollux yesssss. While guessing Sollux, after determining he was a glasses wearing, bipedal, non-white horned male, it asked if he was associated with horses.

I was doing Karkat. I knew it had it when it asked "Does your character get angry easily?"
Guessed correctly in twenty questions: Barton Fink, Dream of the Endless, Max Cohen (Pi), Wayne Coyne
It guessed incorrectly when I was thinking of Jan Švankmajer and Salvador Dali, in both cases giving me people I've never heard of.
The one for Dali must have been relatively close, though, as he could be chosen from the list.
I chose to show forgiveness and think of Wayne twice. The first time it incorrectly guessed Justin Timberlake, because I was asked if Wayne Coyne has "ever been in movies" and answered "yes" for Christmas on Mars. After that, acting became the main focus and the previous questions concerning being a musician were mostly forgotten.
Failed to guess False King, Maneater and octopus guard from Demon's Souls. I thought he was getting close to Maneater when he was asking about green skin, wings and a tail.

I would rather we pretend that Piers Anthony never existed.
a LOT of pornstars in this thing.
Everytime I stump it, like half the options at the end are pornstars.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
And that's how you can tell this thing is on the internet .
I never finish anyth
It gets midget porn stars the first time but not blond ones.
If you are ever up against this skynet style remember that.
ooooh I have to try skynet.
damn it, first try with some twisted artistic painting of skynet even.
I think he was confused by my answering that he had appeared in several popular video games--which he has (Civilization series; perhaps others).
A sentiment apparently shared by Akinator.

"Does he wear a headband"
"Does he ride an animal?"
"Is he from Fire Emblem?" I go craappp
"Guy!"
...OK....

Anyone want to beta read a paranormal mystery novella? Here's your chance.
stream
"He'll never get Hourman!"
"Does he only have superpowers for one hour at a time?"
"Oh fuck you."

So far I've only added 1 character to the list.
YES, IT'S FUCKING BLACKBEARD.
Is your character a goblin? ...
Edit:
Ahahaha it got Sollux yesssss. While guessing Sollux, after determining he was a glasses wearing, bipedal, non-white horned male, it asked if he was associated with horses.
How in the fuck.

First guess: Norm Spellman (from Avatar)
Second guess: Trollface (internet)
Third guess: Your own character (Your Original Character)
Then it said my ideal wife is Ashley Alexandra Dupré, the prostitute who exposed Eliot Spitzer.
Ok, whatever, fine, fuck you. I'm done with this.
It got it.
Weird, it said that the expected answer to "Has your character killed humans?" is "no, when I answered "probably."
I mean he was a WWI vet that had been a POW and wounded more than once, I think an outright "no" is a stretch.
I was doing Karkat. I knew it had it when it asked "Does your character get angry easily?"
Took it 40 to get Rosencrantz. I was wondering which one of the two it would pick.
EDIT: Wow, Gorwen from Through the Dragon's Eye in 20 questions, which is a British educational serial from 1989.
