Hot off the presses, Sony is releasing PSOne games for Android.

The press release can be read here.

Initial PR translation.

"We are releasing a PSOne emulator for Android devices, however, your phone must meet a particular criteria (Read DRM) for us to allow you to run our applications. On top of which, you will need to download content directly from us in a vague yet-to-define manner. We are also cracking out our old PSOne dev kits so software houses can make new games for the platform."

You know, they could of done this 10 years ago when the bought Gamestation from Connectix, or when Bleem was making Bleemcast. They only find out *now* that emulation might open up new markets. On the flip side, the "No Emulation" rule for IPhone apps makes me giggle. LoL....Apple?

This explains how the PSP2 (or NGP?) will run PS1 games. Nice.
