I'd say it applies to all of them. Maybe they don't have their own individual game stores, but again, you're asking them to live with having a big fat Sony logo on their phone that shunts money to Sony. Besides, we've yet to have cell phone manufacturers ever enter into partnerships like this (beyond Sony Ericcson, of course).

I'm sure it would go down better with the other cell phone makers if Sony cut them in on a piece of the action, but that's not generally how Sony works.

Cut them in on a piece of the action? That's not how any business works, except the most desperate.

Um... that's how a LOT of businesses work. You want to partner up? Then share the profits. Besides, we're talking about an industry that inspired the term "moneyhat."
So you've changed your story? It no longer matters if they're even competing in that area, they'll just hate having a Sony logo on their phone? So you DO think it comes down to pettiness? Again, I think you're wrong. Why would Samsung give a rats ass if Sony's making money selling software on their phones? The same Sony that happens to be Samsung's biggest customer.

No, my story's still the same, not sure why you're having a hard time grasping it. Yes, having a "Sony" logo within their phone encourages business to their competitors, besides the fact that it siphons money to Sony even if they don't have a competing game app. It's not pettiness, it's simply not encouraging people to give money to your direct competitors if you can at all help it. For instance, a Sony Vaio can't do without Microsoft Windows because there's really no alternative. And HTC doesn't need Suite in any shape or form.
As for having a Sony logo on their phones, it's not Sony, it's "PlayStation".

Which is very strongly linked to Sony.
Regardless, continuing this argument is pointless, especially when I'm about to post the new thread.

So basically, you're saying "I win?" Very classy. Like I've said before, the best way to drop the argument isn't to make 47 additional points and then say to drop it, it's to say "let's just drop it" and leave it at that.

So we know there's a NGP game by Kojima. There's already 2 MGS games coming, Rising and Snake Eater for 3DS.

Could it be that Zone of the Enders is back?!

I really like MGS, but even I know its time for ZOE.

I don't think having a stalking argument will inform you how Sony is going to get suite on no sony phones. The fact that it is an android app should make it self explanatory how it would work. Much like my magazine apps, kindle/kobo apps on iPad but with games.

Well, no, it doesn't. Is it an app that can be downloaded, or an app that has to be pre-installed on each machine? We really don't know at this point, and I think both approaches have their potential advantages/problems and affects on app sales and the encouragement of development on Suite.

Thanks (to you and Rehab). The complete lack of direct feed videos or even screens made it pretty hard to do much but I tried to find some decent videos at least.

Speaking of which, I'm really interested to see more Gravity Daze. The art style made me think it was a RPG but then they pulled out the crazy Bayonetta-esque gravity. Looks cool.

That is a remarkably pretty machine, and I'm glad they didn't go with the Go-esque flip up design.

I have no doubt that Sony will price it at like $400 and sit there wondering why it isn't flying off the shelves, however.
I will still buy one because I love my PSP, and I'll be buying Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on PSN when it hits the US, for the PSN backward compatibility

I'm guessing that near app is supposed to help you find co-op buddies. I think it is a neat idea but it's predicated on the ubiquaity of the PSP in japan, where even women with headphones are playing pink psp's on commuter trains. near would show you what she's playing and you could then switch to that game and through the psp ask to join her. Or maybe join the 3 junior high kids playing phantasy star 2 at macdonalds. MGS style stranger co-op won't work even with tools the ngs has, given that the tools are solving psp issues in japan where it's really ubiquitous.

I mean for me in Nz hardly any one has a psp and if they do the likely hood of them having the same game is vanishingly small. I have one friend at work with a psp and monster hunter, we've never managed to play, mostly because I think monster hunter is not to his taste.

Ah, looks about the same size as a DS/3DS cartridge. Can anyone guess the capcacity based on the size? With the currently technology, 16GB wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility, right?

I guess that means that the thing on the bottom left of the back of the unit is probably where the memory cards will go.

edit: If we're making guesses at the cost, I'll go with two launch SKUs, at $350 and $400.

If you're still hoping for MS Pro Duo support, don't hold your breath. Sony's stopped using it on everything else, it's very likely that the PSP2 is going to be using M2 as well (or possibly even a newer format)

Considering over here the psp3000 and the psp go are now 319 nzd I'm hoping it's an indication that Sony is going with the old price techqniue used with the ps one and under cut their competition. Or at the very least match the 3DS price

After some soul-searching, I've decided based on absolutely nothing that Sony will likely price their new thing at $350.00

I mean, the PS3 itself is going for 299.99, right?

Considering over here the psp3000 and the psp go are now 319 nzd I'm hoping it's an indication that Sony is going with the old price techqniue used with the ps one and under cut their competition. Or at the very least match the 3DS price

    This is a good joke

I would have laughed at it if it didn't make me sad

So maybe that actually makes it not such a good joke, I'm not sure

I wonder how soon they'll get around to making the touchscreen UI not look like a bad newgrounds flash game.

    Probably never

Judging by the XMB, UI design is not their strong suit

A lot of people like the XMB mind you, and I'm really hoping that it's still an UI choice

Yeah i'm sad the XMB is going, it wasn't the greatest UI imaginable but it was leagues above what microsoft and nintendo have imho

The XMB has it's issues (mostly just the sheer amount of stuff in each list), but at least it's aesthetically pleasing.

The circular glossy balls just look like something a Web 2.0!!!!1!!one undergrad in 2006 would throw together with Photoshop; completely opposed to the whole ultra-modern thing Sony usually goes with.

The Playstation suite stuff sounds fantastic if it is indeed going to be stuff that'll appear on 2.3+ android phones too.

Not knowing what XMB stands for, I couldn't help reading it as "Xbox Media . . . something that starts with B."

So we know there's a NGP game by Kojima. There's already 2 MGS games coming, Rising and Snake Eater for 3DS.

Could it be that Zone of the Enders is back?!

I really like MGS, but even I know its time for ZOE.

Hahah. That's kind of a speculative ass-pull, but I hope to hell you're right. ZoE is awesome.
