Welcome to the Island of Ibiza!

Test Drive Unlimited 2 (TDU2) is a fantastic racing game developed by Eden Games and published by Atari. It will be the sequel to Test Drive Unlimited and the tenth game in the series. The game is available right now on Steam across the EU and US (possibly RoW too) and should be in the stores within the next few days for EU (consoles). Note that when first starting the game on Steam you must link your acount to the Atari website for scores and such I would think.


Additions
  • Oahu (island of the first game) is unlockable after reaching level 10. Completely redone for the new engine
  • Brand new physics engine , cars affected by rain, it washes off the body too
  • Lambo's are out sadly, something to do with licensing costs
  • SUV's are in as are off road races
  • Full day/night cycle (as oppposed to the weird semi-night of the first game)
  • Dynamic weather
  • Vehicle damage, finally. (first game only allowed regular traffic to be damaged)
  • 60 Levels to achieve in the storyline mode (done by purchasing cars, winning races, buying house and clothes, discovering roads and finding car wrecks)
  • Vinyl editor (similar to Forza apparently)
  • You can now have different headlight modes, turn signals and put your roof down! Loving it.
  • Exclusive club cars any member of c lub can drive
  • unlockable showroom vehicles by findin car wrecks
  • Motorcycles are out sadly, may come back as dlc (they left that open)
  • You can now walk around outside of your vehicle in certain areas (shops, home)

Multiplayer additions
  • 32 players in freeroam
  • 32 players can walk around the shops
  • you can ride as a passenger in your friends car, if he wants to show you a shortcut or something else he's found

*Unfortunately last minute licensing events beyond Atari's control mean the 458 is not available on the X360 version of the game. An exclusive car not found on other versions of the game has taken its place (official detail to come later). Atari are really sorry about the communication error that meant this didn't get pointed out sooner.

Aston Martin, Audi, Dodge, Lotus, Mercedes and more. Yeah there's no official list apparently. Lambo's are definitely out as are motorbikes sadly. The latter has been talked about as being added in later in DLC. SUV's are a new addition too for off road racing and general hijinks.

Vehicles have cosmetic damage, does not affect handling. Rain however does. Its fully dynamic apparently. Its a good thing you can bring the roof back u pthen. Along with the roof up/down feature you can also have various headlight modes and use turn signals.

    Well I may as well kick off this thread a bit:

    I quite enjoyed TDU1. My only complaint about it was frankly horrendous handling for damn near all the cars. Apart from that though the idea of a totally explorable island with races in built onto it was great, and the dealerships and the in car view was an added plus.

    So basically, if TDU2 has improved the car handling and tidied up the game in general, it should probably be a hit!

    I was hoping for worldwide release on the 8th. A little disappointed admittedly. That said the inclusion of suvs and more interactivity within the cars makes me a happy bunny.

    we should definitely f form a club. Missed out on that last time round.

    Eh, it's coming out on Thursday in Australia which is the typical release date for 90% of games, so it's not too long to wait.

    See, this right here, this is the kind of stuff I want from an open world driving game. I don't even care if there are any races, just give me more stuff like this.

    The lack of Lamborghini is a bummer as it's always been my favorite make, but I guess I can make do with Ferrari.

    I'm not going to miss the motorcycles too much as I only really used them for running the loop of Oahu. Having the old island as part of the new game and not dlc is nice as well.

    Atari will release TDU2 Casino Online on the same day as Test Drive Unlimited 2, which can be downloaded on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace. TDU2 Casino Online includes casino games like poker, roulette, and slots. The player will have a chance to unlock exclusive cars (Audi R8 Spyder and Spyker C8 Aileron) while playing these casino games.

    TDU2 Casino Online will also include a track for player to try out the exclusive cars that were won. All prizes and cars won in the casino can be carried over into Test Drive Unlimited 2.

    TDU2 Casino Online is also available as a Pre-order bonus at select retailers.

    I really hope the Driving Force GT wheel is supported as that will make the game even sweeter.

    Amazon apparently has delivered my 360 copy today. Do I need to start a 360 club? I suppose I can take on that mantle. What should our name be (if we can name it)?

    Also I had no idea you could ride in the same car as someone else; that's pretty slick.

    Its similar to what Rockstar did with the social networking. You can view all the stats on the Atari website basically.

    Do you have to link it in the game? Because so far I see nowhere to do it on the website. I tried to put in my CD-KEY in my account but it didn't like it. In hindsight, I think I was on the page to put in keys for pre-order bonuses.

    I'm still not sure if I've actually "linked" my Steam copy to my Atari account, since I had to recover my Atari password and then SHAZAM I'm logged into the Atari site and there doesn't seem to be any place to specifically do that.

    Anyway on a non-retarded note: that eurogamer review has practically the first 10-15 minutes of gameplay. Good stuff, seems like the first but better.

    Alright updated the OP to add multiplayer details for Steam group and the 360 section, need more gamer tags for that one though.

    Also, I'm opening the Steam Group for now so you guys can join and then this sunday I'll lock it up as the game will have been released everywhere.

    Finally finished downloading, fired it up, activated with my Steam CD key, got to the Atari log-in screen, put in my info, have been staring at a black screen with swirly loading dots for the past five minutes.

    I am slightly concerned by what this portends.
