The "I want one!" button, instead of a simple "BUY" button is what does it, I think.

It's not a question of if you're willing to purchase the item, just simply, do you want it?

I always love these, even though I almost never buy anything.

And I did manage to get a BoC once, but let's say it wasn't just a clever name.

    What did you get?

I've never bought anything from a woot off, but I did buy some cordless phones on a regular woot day once.
I got what looks like a digital camcorder case (which I use for my DS/PSP stuff now), an insulated beverage mug, two mini ballpoint pens and what appeared to be a CD press kit for some brand of prescription medication.

I got an insulated beverage mug too . . . along with a day planner and a USB security key that prevents access to a computer if it's not plugged in. Also a really neat whistle that has lights all over it. I tossed everything but the mug and the whistle.

Do Roombas actually work well? Or do they just kind of putz around and not clean anything? I've never seen one in action.

The robotic bits of it work really well. I saw one of the head guys at iRobot (the makers of roomba) give a lecture on the practical applications of robotics in everyday life at a robotics thing I went to a few years ago. He showed off the roombas autonomous stuff and it was pretty awesome. It stayed within an IR barrier, could locate its charging dock and charge itself, had bump sensors to keep from getting caught on stuff (sounds easy to do but try building a robot that doesn't get stuck and see how hard it is to get a design that easily frees itself) and had bump sensors that would keep it from rolling off stairs.

As for the vacuum cleaner part, I couldn't really tell you much about that. He said it was just as much cleaning power as a Dyson standing vacuum and that all the whirlwind-window stuff in the Dyson was pretty much just for show.

That mp3 player looks pretty tempting at $99. Closest on the interwebs I can find is about $150, for the same size.

But I don't leave a place where I don't have music playing. So I'll pass on this one..

I have too many areas a Roomba shouldn't go, and too many game cords it would eat.
