Should work on the last two and Lincoln a lot more but carpal tunnel keeps me wary and I'd rather not post these Sunday since I was already a day behind last week. Getting a better hang of working with different values though - makes me further realize how little I know about working with color.
Growing a little wary of digital media... think I'll step back and do some serious life drawing this week.
Well now, Digital painting is hard. But I think i'm starting to get a handle on it.
Just putting values down is easy. But adding Hue is difficult.
Adding hue to values seems to dull the picture. But trying to find a color palette without mixing paint seems to make the painting to... contrasty. I dunno.
I bought that James Gurney book on color. Hopefully I can glean the info from the book well enough.
Anyways,
my Doodles
And Yes, I'm painfully aware about how awful the hands are. Anatomy extremeties will be the goal for next week.
Gonna be in Georgia over the weekend with no technology, so posting some ugly smudgy doodles two days early.

It's Saturday where I am (for another 3 minutes) so I'm posting up this week stuff, I used this week to do a single piece, the first page of my story based comic strip-y/crappy manga-y thing. There's no speech bubbles, or indeed panel lines, on it yet as this thread is more for the art than that sort of stuff I think:
I'll probably try and do a page a week and hopefully I'll improve as I do so...
The mermaid chick at the end is a WIP though for a friend. I'm going to finish the outline, then throw it in PS for some paint trials. (Going to do some colored pencils on a copy too...we'll see.)
Now I get to go enjoy everyone's posts which is really why I come here.
Kind of a hodgepodge this week. Been meaning to study from Loomis for a long time so going to do so in order of publication. Never really studied from artbooks so it's a little hard to stay focused. Really need to find an anatomy book - another thing to occupy time and provide a worthwhile subject to draw.
Another off-line weekend. In spite of Mondays bein' Mondays, they do lead me back to the internet. My sweet, sweet internet. How I missed you.
As you may remember from last time, our somewhat-chewed hero was escaping a mob of stick figures on foot. Although the drawing was a bit rough, the point was that there were more monsters than bullets, so off he goes:
February 13th
February 14th
February 15th
February 16th
February 17th
February 18th
Well, that sure was a lot of monologue.
Meanwhile, our steampunk story is still continuing, just at 1/6 the speed of the above:
As you may recall, our industrious heroine had just saved a military officer from a smoking quarantined barracks, only to learn that the assailants had targeted all of said officer's commands. Presumably including the zeppelin modification commission that she had accepted.
February 19th
Another late entry, but I have a note from my doctor. The weird thing about getting a laparoscopic cholecystectomy is that I thought I would lose weight. Instead, I've gained almost ten pounds. I wonder if they shoved a brick in there when I wasn't looking.
As you may remember from last time, our hero turned out to be a post-apocalyptic DJ, uniting and inspiring a diffuse assortment of walled-in survivors. Unfortunately, he'd also been bitten. Let's see how that works out for him:
February 20th
February 21st
February 22nd
February 23rd
And we'll stop the story there for now, leaving you in suspense for next week's final page.
Did a couple space station sketches for a sci-fi story I'm working on. Some asteroids, some beer, some yakkity-yak. The usual space stuff:
February 24th
February 25th
And lastly, another page from the steampunk story, where our Heroine has leadfooted it back to her burning factory. No one seems terribly worried about it.
February 26th
Next Week: enough of the lettering. Getting back to sketching.
Sorry I wasn't able to post last week - I suffered a concussion Sunday before last and the docs weren't letting me the computer to rest my brain. So here's for last week and this week.
Fixed the H-Scroll issue from last post; didn't appear as an issue on my monitor so I didn't notice it. Thank you for mentioning it.
First two are a bad oekaki and a self-portrait that desperately needs additional time. Can't say I've had a concussion or anything like that - just have been having motivational problems this week.
Going to go through Loomis a little more diligently next week - barely halfway through his first book at the moment. My goal is two sketchbook pages per study - I want to move onto his other books soon!
As you may remember from last time, I was sketching three stories. Let's close one of those out now. But first! Adventures in spaaaaace:
February 27th
February 28st
March 1st
March 2nd
March 3rd
Now, here's the end of the post-apocalyptic story. Where our protaginist was trying to figure out what the right thing to do. Turns out the right thing to do:
March 4th
And another steampunk story page, where our Heroine cleared the dock, only for the floor of her factory to inexplicably erupt:
March 5th
Next Week: a little more space, a little more steam.

This is kinda late I'm afraid, and also kinda rushed for a variety of reasons. Anyhow it's the next page of my comic thing, still sans speech bubbles or context of any kind.
Probably be pretty busy this week and next too, but hopefully I'll still find time to draw (crapily)

So most of these are just horrible doodles.

Next Week: continuing stories
And here they are...
Possibly a little NSFW for violence, and it might be a little on the large side, just give me a shout if it needs to be shrunk/spoilered:
So yeah, not a lot of artistic development over last week, but hopefully the more I do the better I'll get...
Shall be working out of Loomis for the next few weeks / months. Should probably do more than a page a day but this seems a decent starting pace.
As you may remember from last time, our hero turned out to be a post-apocalyptic DJ, uniting and inspiring a diffuse assortment of walled-in survivors. Unfortunately, he'd also been bitten. Let's see how that works out for him:
