I will throw you on the land and hurl you on the open field. I will let all the birds of the air settle on you and all the beasts of the earth gorge themselves on you. I will spread your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains. I will drench the land with your flowing blood all the way to the mountains, and the ravines will be filled with your flesh. - Ezekiel 32: 4-6
I wish there was a way to have the bw sounds in sc2, probe and science vessel deaths were so satisfying.
This may or may not work. The post explaining how to do this was posted in a thread 3 months after Blizzard supposedly made this impossible. I assume this is a new work around that hasn't been patched out. You probably want to do more research before actually doing this. I'm stupid and don't understand any of it.

It's still possible to do this, although it takes a little more work. I'm going to post a little guide here. You can replace any sound in the game using this method. For fun, my first project was replacing nuke sounds with "REAVER REAVER REAVER", Day9's scream, and "terrible, terrible damage", viewable here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HluLJaDy0qI
Do this all at your own risk. Editing MPQ's requires some competence with computers and is probably against the ToU/EULA. I'm not responsible for whatever happens to you, your account, or your installation.
Preparation
1) Open your SC2 folder.
2) Navigate to Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod.
3) CTRL+Click enUS.SC2Assets and base.SC2Assets.
4) Copy and paste them to a safe folder (this'll take a few minutes). (note: this step is to ensure that should anything go wrong with your editing, you will have the original MPQ files to work with. Also, I'm not sure how patching will affect this, so it's probably a good idea to swap the original MPQs back before applying a patch.
6) Prepare any sound files you want to use in the swap. If your file has the wrong extension, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) is a great free tool you can use to easily record and edit audio files (you'll also probably need it to raise the volume on your audio since otherwise it's too quiet ingame).
I'll be writing the rest of the guide to walk you through applying the SC1 sound patch found at the beginning of this thread.
Editing
1) Fire up your MPQ editor and navigate to Liberty.SC2Mod\base.SC2Assets. Navigate in the side bar to Assets\Sounds\Protoss\Archon.
2) Open the sound pack. Navigate to Assets\Sounds\Protoss\Archon.
3) Drag all the files from the folder to the MPQ editor. If you did it right, a popup saying "Rules for adding files to MPQ" should appear. Just click OK. Afterwards, click "Yes All" (the old files are being overwritten).
4) Repeat for all the other files. Everything in the Assets\... directory is in base.SC2Assets. Once you're done with that, close it in the editor (it automatically saves). Everything in the LocalizedData folder is handled in enUS.SC2Assets (or the appropriate languageCOUNTRY combination for your localized copy).
5) Be sure not to launch SC2 until you have completely closed your MPQ editor. If you've done it correctly, the sounds should be swapped.
6) If you want to use your own files not included in the sound pack, be aware that in order for the swap to work, the replacement sound file must have the same name and extension as the original one. This means .mp3's won't work where .ogg's are needed, etc. If you need help on this, go ahead and post in the this thread or PM me or whatever.
Hope you all enjoy! I've been running SC1 sounds for about a day and it's so nice to hear the old marine guns again.
He's not in GSL I don't think, but he is fucking hilarious. Upon request he will karaoke pop music in his stream. A day or two ago he sang Poker Face, last night it was Fireworks. And he's pretty good. At singing and Starcraft, really.
Haha that's fine, working on your wall is small in comparison to the leaps and bounds you've made with actually doing the build in general
:^:
I've been looking for another super solid build to work on, that focuses a little more heavily on either mech (like thors and tanks), or air units (namely banshees or ravens).
Just knowing I have the option of doing TWO builds really well may help me do a very basic 'If I see (A) at opponents base, I can do (B) build' scout, and work from there.
Watching you guys play, and watching GSL and the like, it seems like much of what you all do is more 'freeform', since you guys have nailed down mechanics extremely well. Sure, everyone supply blocks once and a while, or has a bad night, but I'm still blown away watching replays of the Plat/Diamond/Masters players here.
I even like kpop and I hate that look they're all doing now with like 1950s America.
The song that they're doing promos for is pretty annoying.

seguer wants to watch me get beat
I had a bad attack and when I knew colossus were coming I just felt very uncomfortable. I thought upgrades and marauders might save me but it just didn't work out. I think he had 3 robos at one point
vikings would obviously have helped me but I didn't start getting them early due to busting his robo bay, and once it became really necessary I was concerning myself with medivacs and, well, I guess just ignoring them. I -did- kill a lot of colossus but obviously vikings would have helped if I hadn't lost my army so manytimes. I kept having to replenish medivacs too. my own sloppiness.
when I went for his third and didn't take it out it was over. maybe before then I haven't watched, but that's how I felt after the game a half hour ago.
edit - iirc my opening was sloppy but that's sorta secondary, just want to point it out

This game. I just watched the replay and at one point I had 3 scvs to his 30 probes.

iowa was the quarterback and when HE was on the team
I am here, though, watching GSL
I have to be at work in like, five hours
ffffffffffuu---
It actually is coming ALOT smoother, and I can even keep my camera on my scout with auto-follow, and maintain the macro portions of the build :^:
I still stumble on making the correct wall, though, and I can see that costing me a few games to sloppy bronze cheese
PoltPrime ragging on the Gorilla Terran, saying he's not that good?
stupid zergs not always fast expanding, how dare they not play into my hands.
damn masters players outmacroing me
damn... other zerg that I beat... or something

Everything is so fast

With lobbies its easier to just mess around, testing things.
For example, I never use hallucinate on the ladder but the first time it got Streltsy really badly
This is what you guys were talking about with the kpops this time around? Ahahahahaha.
Oh I guess they're pop stars? Man. I've spent a little bit of time in Korea but I still think they're weird.
EDIT: Kinda creepy more than cute.
